Which is better amcrest or lorex?

@Myotape22 , on the plus side you can add two cams to your NVR later. I think people like the look of the mini-bullets even though they have the smaller sensor. Probably because people are comparing them to Arlo cams.

Which is better amcrest or lorex?

I guess the new style are the "mini bullets" with the 1/2.8". I have the E891AB-E with 8MP/4K 1/1.8” CMOS (https://www.lorextechnology.com/downloads/ip-cameras/E891AB/E891AB_Series_Spec_Sheet_R1.pdf)

Which is better amcrest or lorex?

Others have tried unsuccessfully (Help needed, Is it (possible) to load Dahua firmware on lorex lnb9272s ???). I'd be keen to try to upgrade them if someone finds a working firmware for Lorex E891AB (aka IPC-HFW1841EN-PV).

Which is better amcrest or lorex?

Yes, somewhat. The DVR is dumbed down, but the cameras have more functionality if you configure them directly. I.e., you can setup a tripwire on the camera but not on the DVR. Unfortunately, both the DVR and cameras have the older firmware line which requires a browser plugin. Lorex basically...

    Dahua NVR rackmount question

I have a 4KS2 DVR. It’s sold and marketed at 1.5U. The depth is 17”, which meant my rack was too shallow. It’s a bit of a shame it’s not 1u and a bit shorter.

Which is better amcrest or lorex?

I have an 8 cam Lorex kit and now five cams from Andy. I think the kit is a great way to start out.

    Notification if car leaves

I have a camera in my garage and I trained an object detector on my two cars, garbage bin and tool bucket. The tool bucket is just a sanity check and if it’s not visible then the camera doesn’t change the state of the other objects. The cars and bin are both tied to virtual presence sensors in...

New to LPR? Considerations Before You Begin

Just something I wrote myself. The yolov3 default weights worked ok, but was too slow. You might be able to get something similar by using the cameras vehicle detector and snapshots. One advantage of my system is it crops the 4K image before sending it to SightHound. This improves things greatly.

    Camera software developer.

Sounds like you need an “IT guy” or if you want to pay more a “solutions architect”. It’s unlikely it’s economical to create or modify the camera firmware. Most innovation occurs off camera, but closely tied to it. Eventually, some of this tech is moved onto the camera, in a scaled down format...

    "Empower" NVR4216 firmware

I purchased a NVR4216 off ebay for $100. It fits 4HDD so should work fine. The firmware is English only and a bit dated. I've tried half the firmware files on Firmwares without success. It's not a major loss if I can't upgrade, but figured I'd try before configuring the unit. Device...

    Hidden Camera Help (Defensive)

Sorry, but you clearly are living with someone you don’t trust. Low tech is to have the webcams on your computer or tablet always recording. Easier on a tablet to have it record without a tally. Honestly, add a chime that rings when you open your door, and leave your door shut.

Which is better amcrest or lorex?

What do you want to use it for? Do you want to be able to id a thief or have nice views of your outside from inside the house. My Lorex cams look great during the day, but at night moving objects are just a blur. See my deer post for an example of a slow moving object. For Lorex you should be...

Which is better amcrest or lorex?

I’d suggest Amcrest for commercial and Lorex for home. Amcrest designs more features for businesses but costs a but more. For example, their cameras are installed with a vandal resistant torque wrench, while Lorex has simple Phillips screws. Most Amcrest firmware have SNMP while Lorex do not...

Documentation for the Dahua HTTP API?

I’ve been trying to figure out how to turn on/off the LEDs and siren on my cams. Being able to play a wav file would be super useful as well.

    Deer visits flowers, then garden

Had a deer visit last month, visible across 4 cams. I'm working on a object detector to give me alerts when animals come for an uninvited visit, and I marked up the frames with what it sees along with the probability. The clip is quite long, so I only include 1 frame per second. The better the...

Recommendations on a home ip camera setup

I have a Costco Lorex 8 4K cams, 2tb nvr. I purchased all for $700. Buying piecemeal is better but will cost you a lot more. It’s a great way to start. Only complaint is adding the 9th cam means you need another nvr

What is the differences between the IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED and IPC-T5442TM-AS? They seem the same except the one has the LEDs. Why is the one without more? Why have both, can't you just not use the LEDs? I'm thinking I'll get a few 5442 cams, just trying to figure out which ones.

Very small PoE Cam for bird feeder?

I saw this project today: I like their software but would want a hard wired cam. Maybe I could build my own with a doorbell cam.

I’ve had this same thought. An Illuminator and Poe splitter is more than many low end cams.

How do you really use your cams and what's your experience for those use cases? Non-professionals only

I use my eight Lorex cameras to alert me to wildlife, when a get a package delivered and when a person or video enters the property. I run my DVR headless in the attic and mostly rely on push notifications to my phone.

Hardware for Tennis Match video capture

Hardware for Tennis Match video capture

You could have a Raspberry Pi 4 for each monitor, which is not much different than a dedicated hardware decoder, except of course, you could run video analytics with the spare cpu cycles.

I am looking for recommendations for a WIFI Outdoor Solar 1080p camera

I’ve trained a model on Azure Custom Vision using snapshots from my own cams. I run it on a Jetson Nano. Seems it could be made into a BI plug-in or I could open a web service. Ultimately, I want the system to have active learning, so when you get an alert you mark if it was real or false and...

I am looking for recommendations for a WIFI Outdoor Solar 1080p camera

I have wired cameras for wildlife captures. I find unless the small critters are very close to the camera, the motion detector doesn’t trigger. I process the video through an AI model so I don’t use the motion detection. I know trail cams work for larger mammals but I don’t know if they will...

New to LPR? Considerations Before You Begin

In my system I first process the feed with an object detector. If it sees a vehicle, it crops the image and passes it to the sighthound api. It removes the problem of false alerts due to other movements.

    Long-distance camera limitation questions

I’m not at all an electrician, but when running cable to another building or location is there any requirement to have a neutral and ground?
