    Comcast/Xfinity Increases 20 million Internet customer's speed

I am not following the math. You are happy to pay 30 extra each month to have no contract, adding up to hundreds a year extra, but somehow friends got burned with a contract? Meaning they were somehow charged thousands (or way more than hundreds)?

    IPC-T5442 (4MP) vs. new IPC-Color4K-T?

This does not make sense to me, "armed by HS"? HS can modify BI and BI can update HS as to its current state, but HS does not "arm" BI. However I may be completely missing your question. For example, you can have HS tell BI to not send alerts during certain times of the day or based on the state...

    Comcast/Xfinity Increases 20 million Internet customer's speed

Comcast sent me a text 2 weeks ago letting me know that they upped my download speed from 300 to 500 for no apparent reason. But they charge me stupid amounts of money either way, so I think they are trying to avoid me moving to the competition. And they are correct.

What are the best wireless security camera without subscription service

This is confiusing. Maybe more info would be helpful. But in the meantime, I must repeat what @sebastiantombs said above “wireless and security are mutually exclusive terms”. Then I suggest several of these wonderful cameras...

What are the best wireless security camera without subscription service

what are you trying to accomplish? What OS are you using? What are your security goals? Did you know that wireless cams are easily taken offline without your permission? Is this for interior or exterior use? Is the subject of your concern far or close? Budget?

    IPC-T5442 (4MP) vs. new IPC-Color4K-T?

When I first got BI with AI up and running I was so happy, alerts were actionable, meaning that when I got an alert it was because a human was exiting the sidewalk and approaching the house. Same for the back yard, if they exit the open space and approach the house, I would get an alert. But...

    IPC-T5442 (4MP) vs. new IPC-Color4K-T?

Yep, I tied HomeSeer (home automation) with Blue Iris and it works well and reliably (over two years). For instance, I have a LUX meter tied into HomeSeer (HS) and it changes the three profiles on my Dahua camera (day/night/general) throughout the day based on how bright/dark it is. HS also...

Swann 4K Ultra HD is on sale cheap at Costco. Unfortunately, most Swann cameras are not ONVIF-compliant. Has anyone hacked this IPC?

Right up till the police tell you that the blurry night images are unusable to help them identify or find the perp. I guess the exception would be if they are installed in a well lit warehouse or used inside your house where it is well lit. Some people may live directly under an outside light...

Security. Its like putting a cheap lock on your front door. Great way to save money until someone tries to break in.

    Stolen Dahua NVR now online

When you are trying to logon to the NVR you are entering an IP or a Domain. You can enter that same info into a reverse lookup engine and learn some basic info about the owner/geographic location/etc It won’t give you an address but will provide some anecdotal info. In the end, as mentioned...

BI Questions: Push Notifications, Home Assistant Integration, Mobile App

So just to confirm, you need to have the facial recognition setup in BI like so: Then of course you must upload a photo. Best to change the default name to something useful - like "DAN" Then go into the AI tab for the camera in question and tell AI to look for "DAN": Then go into the alert...

What a great idea - garage roller door - wireless reed switch and door hinge

It is wireless. It connects to my z-wave network I opened the case and added a mercury bulb to convert it to a tilt sensor. There are contacts inside with screws that easily accept wires - which in this case was the wires from the bulb itself (bypassing the need for a magnet) Having said that...

What a great idea - garage roller door - wireless reed switch and door hinge

Only 4 years here! I use a z-wave switch that communicates with HomeSeer. I placed it at the angle shown so that I can open the door about 6 inches and it does not trigger. In the summer and at other times I like a breeze while in the garage but don't need it open all the way. Inside the switch...

Another simple interface question about the Android APP.

This is very subjective without any details on your part. I prefer the browser as I run a smart home and can load a specific camera or cameras programmatically to be shown on the tv. For example, the doorbell rings and I can see who is there. Not possible to target a specific camera stream with...

and THIS is why you do NOT let your Cameras on the internet.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm. This reply seems to just be using some garden variety buzz words and does not make a lot of sense. In essence are you trying to say that all security cameras contain 2 distinct web servers and only hackers can log onto the second server? Or are you saying there...

    New user, hello

As a fellow hacker I never say "not possible". But given your situation I, again, would not participate in such a solution with any of your work pc's without written permission. Such an arrangement (if you can even pull it off) without question falls into the bad practice zone. It is the very...

    New user, hello

Thanks for the info. Always helpful to explain things. Sounds like however you can get access is simply how it will be obtained. In the end you may have only a single way to access anyway. Due to the restrictions placed on you, I would just do what works. As far as placing software onto any of...
