    Streaming Profile settings

What do you use for your streaming profile settings (I assume they are used both for the web interface and mobile apps)? I've tried various settings but still get some choppiness and irregularities. My CPU never gets busy, so I think its more of a settings issue.

You might try rebooting your router, I had a similar issue years ago that was a DHCP lease issue.

Cameras 1 hour behind until I login

When you logged in they synced time with your desktop PC (its an option under date and time settings). Check the date and time settings, you might have the time zone wrong there, so when it hits the ntp server it gets the wrong time

    Object movement with make time

Hmm, so maybe I have to reduce make time since some of my zones are fairly narrow. Hopefully someone chimes in who has experimented with this enough to have a definitive answer...

    Object movement with make time

I just setup one camera with 3 non-overlapping zones and am using object movement (A-B, A-C, B-C) between any 2 zones to trigger recording. I'm not sure how "make time" applies here, if I'm set to 1.0 second, do I need 1 second of motion moving between zones, or in each zone, or something else??

    Wall bracket mounting questions

I installed a Dahua camera on cedar clapboards using a PFB203W waterproof bracket. Make a 3/8" hole to get cable out and then put plumbers putty in the hole to seal it. Just screwed the mounting plate to clapboards, and then mounted the bracket to the plate, no caulking. Was that a mistake...

I have a IPC-HDW5231R-Z and cannot get cam to see the micro SD card

Swap the card with another card that is known to work. Also, I had an issue with the SD card holder in one Dahua camera, it wasn't staying solidly in the closed position. Making a gentle bend in the spring clips fixed that.

Camera with IR emitter, triggers at night in rain

I recently installed my first Dahua turret (a 5231) and tried using it with the IR emitters at night. Works amazing, except that I cannot find settings that aren't motion triggered in rain. It looks like rain falling near the lens (highlighted by IR light) is enough to set it off. Any...

Dahua Side Mounting On Wall Using PFB203W?

I literally just installed a Dahua turret (replacing an old, wireless bullet) using the PFB203W. I had the same debate, but opted for the junction box because it looks better (in my opinion), and is more resistant to water issues (cable size hole as mentioned above, vs 3/4"). Plenty of room in...

Test Run Video Through Motion Detection question

Long time user and I'm working on tweaking a camera setup, but I seem to have confused myself with the test run feature. When I run a video through test run it starts highlighting motion with a green box and it eventually becomes a red box (both boxes around moving objects), at which point the...

    Starlight or not

I am mounting an eyeball Dahua camera by my garage. It will be about 8' high, roughly 2 feet below a twin floodlight fixture (76w halogen bulbs, could switch them to LED but have not). Trying to decide if I should go with a 2mp starlight camera, or a higher resolution non-starlight (only...

    New Dahua, how to install

Purchased my first Dahua, an IPC-HDW4231EMP-ASE. I found the Dahua config tool, and connection the camera to POE ethernet. But I cannot find the camera on the network. First, i don't see a power light on the camera, am I missing something? Second, is there a way to find the camera other...

Indoor POE dome camera with built in basic NVR

They do have their alarm code, but they rotate personnel and accidentally set off the alarm (way too frequently) so we receive a call. The cleaners won't answer the office phone, so we'd like to quickly be able to see what's going on in the office to decide how to respond. You'd think our...

Indoor POE dome camera with built in basic NVR

We've had an issue in my office with the cleaners regularly setting off the front door alarm. I use Blue Iris at home very successfully, but don't want to do that at the office. Just looking for a dome camera that we can mount on a ceiling tile and point towards the front door. We already...

    Hardware Acceleration crashes my camera

I run BI 4.7.4.3 on an i7-4770 with 16 gb memory, SSD and 1tb hard drive (retired desktop from work, it was free!), with 20mb of cameras (7 total). I tried experimenting with QS/HA on 1 camera (Amcrest 4mb, POE), and it seemed to crash the connection, I would get frequent no signals in the...

    URGENT: Blue Iris Troubleshooting

Pardon the interruption, bit I would suggest starting by disabling all but a few cameras, get those to work, then gradually adding in others until either all is well or you find a stumbling block.

What is causing some cameras to have "no signal"?

I had this issue off and on for 2 years, and thought it was a BI issue. Turned out that a Netgear router that I was using in Access Point mode was doing some bad stuff (I think DHCP related) and when I put it back into Router mode, turned off DHCP, and moved Internet into a LAN port it went...

Worth upgrading from i7-940 to i7-4770

So I made the switch today, it was very easy. IdI estimate I'm saving 125 Watts of power. Turns out the boot drive is an SSD, so I used the original 1tb sata drive for clip storage. And I found an nvidia video card in there too, which I pulled out. Even setup remote desktop so I'm running...

Setup replacement system, how do I move over clips

Thanks. It took all of 20 minutes to get the new one running. I did remember to un-register the old one, thanks to many posts here. Power savings is way over 100 watts. Crazy. What do you suggest I use to remote in to control the new server as a headless unit?

Worth upgrading from i7-940 to i7-4770

I have 7 cameras, a total of 16mp of video. Currently run BI4 on an old i7-940 and while it runs great (stays at 10-20% CPU), I know its an energy hog. I can get a free i7-4770 with 8gb of memory (getting retired in my office). I think this would support H264 decoding on the motherboard, and...

    Connecting through VPN

Here's the summary of what I did (last night!) 1. Turn on OpenVPN in your router. This includes setting up a user name and password and then generating a config file that you will share with any device you want to connect via the VPN. 2. Install an OpenVPN app on your phone, and use the user...
