    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Wow that looks great! Thanks for sharing that pic @looney2ns from the 5442. That's definitely usable in an entryway and doesn't have the close focus issue of the 4KX. I'm wondering how that would look at at night with the front lights on without IR in both color and b/w? Is that this camera in...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

& @EMPIRETECANDY Here was a capture directly from the camera that I posted earlier: https://ipcamtalk.com/attachments/20221019_122501-png.143174/ I can't get a reasonably in-focus image for anything closer than about 10'. I'm not really sure how the "close focus distance" that you mentioned...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

This is the 2.8 - the wide view for covering passerbys no more than 20' in front of the building, as well as an entryway and 10' x 8 vestibule. This wouldn't be purposed for an overview camera for a yard, etc.

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

I went through adjusting these settings, completely disabling NR, etc. No dice:(. Even with the better image @EMPIRETECANDY posted, it looks like Dahua has got the focus set so that this camera would be unusable in the likes of entryways, corridors, or anywhere besides in a position as an...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

@wittaj You tipped me off - the screenshots I grabbed were to show that I was choosing the main stream. I did a screenshot earlier from the web interface's button to generate a camera generated screenshot and the anti-aliasing is no where's near as extreme (attached). You can still see some...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

@EMPIRETECANDY I did 2 hard resets last night with the reset button on the camera. I can try to grab a ladder and get the camera higher. I noticed on page 16, @looney2ns pictures also showed the extreme anti-aliasing effect where you really notice it around the roofs of the houses off to the...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

The top picture is with the exposure set back at 50 / 100 (I had set it to 14 to reduce the overexposure). The bottom picture is with the codec set to H264 with 10240 bitrate.

@Wildcat_1 & @CCTVCam The top is the a screenshot from the 4KT, the bottom is a screenshot from the Reolink RLC-811A. Also notice the anti-aliasing effect on the fence around the edges of the image with the Dahua. The sign is 7 feet away from the cameras lenses measure with a tape measure...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

Thanks - your crisp images vs my blurry ones up close gives me hope that I can swap this camera out and mine was from a batch where the focus wasn't set properly at the factory, but I'll posts some pics tomorrow for validation. Now that the sun has set, i see the low light capability of this...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

So when I walked out of the office I took another look around. The branch that appeared as just a see-through blur on the Dahua but clear on the Reolink was actually on a different tree that was about 5' out. Taking a look at the close focus distance spec that was posted in the beginning of this...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

@Wildcat_1 I just applied the 9/22 firmware so I'll test that before trying to figure out an exchange on this camera, or whether to just get 5442s which seem to be vetted more. I guess I was trying to fool myself into thinking I didn't end up with one with a focus issue - I've been playing...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

I just picked up this camera today and am super sad:(:(. I saw the posts about focus issues, and it sounds like I have one of the duds? Everything is out of focus. There's a tree about 20 ft from where I have the camera placed, and the focus is so bad, the branches hanging off of it look like...

Comparision of ReoLink RLC-811A vs Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI, etc for Human/Person AI Detection and More

@wittaj Thanks for the info on IVS. Thinking it through a little more, I'd like to have one IVS rule to have a region that I get push notifications from and recording (close to the building) and another region where I just get recording (out in the street / sidewalk area). It sounds like...

Comparision of ReoLink RLC-811A vs Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI, etc for Human/Person AI Detection and More

@wittaj & @looney2ns I'm trying to decide between the 5442 and 4K/X then. In the front, there are 3 100W led fixtures, and no more than 20 feet distance that I need to cover for ID purposes. With what you said above @wittaj with that 1/1.2 sensor and some lights in front of the building...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

@looney2ns Can you please point me to the threads you mentioned that test and compare the AI performance between brands, and how this camera in this thread performs? That would be very much appreciated! I spent quite a while searching and came up empty handed. There are threads that say how AI...

Awesome video lol! I think if it's 3am perpetrators are going to think everyone is sleeping and not paying attention, but audio could be a game changer. Not sure why he said "PLEASE" when he told them to leave the area lol. This is why I'd like at least some ability to talk back, tinny sounding...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

For sure good to know about the AI in Amcrest vs. Dahua. My plan with the Hik would be to either leave the white LEDs on, or just leave them off. There's not a chance I would use the strobe. Leaving them on would be fine for the rear. I had a neighbor that had their camera set to turn on LEDs on...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

@EMPIRETECANDY I'm pretty sure all Dahua cameras in the same classification would share the same human and vehicle detection code, as it would be too difficult to maintain different code for different cameras. It's also advertised as an important selling point for most camera systems these days...

Comparision of ReoLink RLC-811A vs Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI, etc for Human/Person AI Detection and More

Thanks everyone for all the help here! Decisions, decisions, but I'm definitely going with a turret with a 1/1.2" sensor to start. It's between the Hikvision and the Dahua. These models were exceedingly difficult to look up and find documentation on given my specs. Does anyone know if you buy...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HDW5849H-ASE-LED / IPC-Color4K-T - 2.8mm Turret

I've been thinking about purchasing this camera, or the competing Hikvision model camera (DS-2CD2387G2-LSU/SL), but I haven't seen anyone that's done a comparisons of the human and vehicle detection of Dahua vs other brands, or any at all for that matter. Am I the only person out there that has...

Comparision of ReoLink RLC-811A vs Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI, etc for Human/Person AI Detection and More

@wittaj -good points. There will be white light from around front, but I'm not sure how much of a difference that will make. Maybe with Dahua having a 1/1.2 sensor, it will be what I need. So I'm thinking I'm going to start with one of the Dahua with the adjustable warm light. If the human and...

@Mike A. I was looking at the 5842T here: https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/97217 It would be great to go without needing white light or IR. The 5842T has a 1/1.8 sensor, where as the other Dahua...

@wittaj I get what you're saying about DETECT vs IDENTIFY and probably need to spend a little more time thinking this through. I have planned for 4 cameras up front and 2 in the rear. Up front, 2 will be mounted about 15' high and further back, and the other 2 will be about 7' high and closer...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

@dubber I just came across your post as I just compared the human and vehicle detection between a Reolink RL-811A and an Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI (link below) and came across this Dahua review thread searching on the Dahua N85EFN2 (US model #). With Amcrest being made by Dahua, I am now HIGHLY...

Comparision of ReoLink RLC-811A vs Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI, etc for Human/Person AI Detection and More

So I'm pretty frustrated with my options at the moment because there simply isn't much in the line of test comparisons that anyone has published online for AI detection between Dahua, Amcrest, Hikvision, and Reolink besides my test between Amcrest and Reolink above. With Amcrest being Dahua, and...

Comparision of ReoLink RLC-811A vs Amcrest IP8M-2796EW-AI, etc for Human/Person AI Detection and More

That's interesting that with Amcrest being Dahua, there would be such a performance difference with the AI detection. In my searches, I had come across several people who had swapped out their firmware to Dahua and back to Amcrest, and didn't see anyone mention AI performance. So, it will be...
