Yeah but at 8ft with a large stick or boom they might smash the camera :p

@reeves1985 how high would you mount then? I was thinking of mounting it at about 15 feet high. I have a flat roof at 8 feet high and i also want to monitor the flat roof.

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Lying in bed got me thinking.. Do i really need the recessed dome, or is the ipc-hdw5231r-z, placed below my soffit, not enough? I just want to see who is approaching my house (and which dog shits in my front yard).. I don't think i need PTZ in front of the house.

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Oh cool so that would be also my offset. And with auto tracking and 24/7 recording you would definately see people approaching. Thnx @nayr ! Would you also go for option 2 in my case?

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

How can i test this? I have absolutely no idea.. If i see the video by @nayr in this thread about the auto-tracking i wonder how far from his front door he has mounted his cam... That would make me decide if i go for this cam.

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

Well the reason i have it at the current position (right) is that my door has its hinges on the left, so by placing the cam in the right corner, i can have it face directly towards the street and the faces of people who walk onto my porch. And i would also use ZWave to trigger certain presets btw.

Dahua Starlight Recessed Dome PTZ (SD52C225U-HNI)

So the good news is that both @hmjgriffon and @nayr seem to scout the threads i have my eye on. I am now wondering if would have the ipc-hdw5231r-z or the one discussed in this thread, the sd52c225u. Here is the situation; Option 1: Setup the "ipc-hdw5231r-z" and have it look at my front...

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

How would i need to set it (and on which sites) if i have this cam and the SD59 PTZ?; what do i fill in? I bought 2x WD Purple, 4TB to put in my NAS (i also learned i don't need RAID) I think based on the readings on this site 15fps is more then enough; 24/7 recording; H264 with VBR?

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

@reeves1985 i got it. The way i am going to set it up is using the PTZ set to my gate (entry point backyard) but also enable (ZWave) motion detection to trigger certain PTZ presets. Not 'zooming around'.

@reeves1985 you mean 2 cams on one spot (e.g. backyard)?

Blue Iris hardware - NEED HELP :)

Ok i cut the cord and went for a new NUC (i7) to be my new HTPC, the old one (Core i5-4250U) will be the Blue Iris server (if it can't cope i will have the i7 do it). Now all i need is some advice for my cam situation.. Anybody?

Blue Iris hardware - NEED HELP :)

So i got a "Intel NUC D54250WYK" would that run Blue Iris? It has a Intel Core i5-4250U and 16gb ram.

Review-I'll be the guinea pig for the new SD59225U-HNI PTZ.

Well i would be only using it for this cam and a cam which i monitor up front, so i only need 2 (or 4 max) ports. I don't need POE either since i am always more of separation of concerns and powering the cams directly. This runs Linux right? Means it doesn't run Blue Iris software? And the 5208...

Blue Iris hardware - NEED HELP :)

Ok this is maybe a very stupid question for most of you, but i have currently one Foscam FI9900P cam and recently bought an SD59225U-HNI. My wife just told me there was another break-in in the neighborhood last night so it is time to setup my SD59225U-HNI cam (which is still in the box it came...

Does the PFA120 also mount to this cornermount PFA151? And if so, does the 120 attach to the back of the cornermount or to the front? E.g. is it: Cam -> 151 -> 120 -> wall (Or) Cam -> 120 -> 151 -> wall ?

First PTZ cam - what would you advise?

    Bought this: sourcingmap® AC 24V /DC24V Step-Down to DC 12V 3A 36W: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics And: Dahua PFA120 Wallmount base Now all i need is add a network cable :)
  26. Gilles0181

First PTZ cam - what would you advise?

@nayr thanks. Problem is that the advised splitter is very cheap, but adding shipping makes it expensive. Same goes for the wind "socks" you are using..

First PTZ cam - what would you advise?

@nayr ordered the mic. Which power option has your preference?

First PTZ cam - what would you advise?

I don't know what BlueIris is (need to research that since i read that a lot here) but i don't have any cams with mic yet so i'll have to get something new for this.

First PTZ cam - what would you advise?

So basically i have these options, either run a 24V power supply + (plain) Ethernet to the cam and split the power towards the microphone, like explained perfectly in the review thread of the microphone. Or power the PTZ via POE using either one of these Gigabit POE injectors: - Ubiquiti PoE...
