    Motion everywhere... :(

I don’t know, but I personally haven’t had problems with IVS (tripwire and intrusion box) not working. I don’t use face detection. My issue is that my IPC-T5241-AS-PV is supposed to be able to filter out humans only, but is none the less triggered by cats and deer causing false alarms.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW1230S Lite series 2mp turret.

Has there been any firmware upgrades to this camera @EMPIRETECANDY? I'm still on 2.622.0000000.9.R, Build Date: 2018-01-31 and it seems from Firmware that there is a DH_IPC-HX2(1)XXX-Edison_EngSpnFrn_P_V2.680.0000000.7.R.190911.zip update available from them. I've downloaded that, but can't get...

API for event stream (such as motion detection)

I adapted the work of @johnnyletrois into AblazeWoland/dahua-ivs-watcher, you can check out the code on how to poll (IVS) events there. If you figure out how to do PushPoint notifications in e.g. Python, I think quite a few people here and elsewhere would appreciate if you published the code. I...

    Motion everywhere... :(

What I like about Surveillance Station is that I don’t have to dedicate a separate computer that runs Windows. If you want an out-of-the-box solution, Blue Iris may be the way to go - to the extent surveillance in general and Dahua is out-of-the-box at all. I’d say it’s not, really. For my...

    Motion everywhere... :(

What kind of IVS are you using? My limited experience taught me that tripwires really work as tripwires, if anything at all moves over the lines, it triggers. Intrusion boxes work better for me. It probably depends on your scene/field of vision.

Hey @thansen, did you see the last post of this thread? Synology Community There Synology mention "around early next year", but it's worrying that you had a newer reply where they seem even less clear on the timeframe.

    Motion everywhere... :(

Sounds like a working workaround, good! Me, I want to avoid gDMSS and keep as much as possible within Synology, but that requires the script. It’s probably easier to get started the way you did.
  8. The North Face

    Motion everywhere... :(

You’re absolutely right. It would indeed be pretty easy for Synology to add rudimentary IVS event notification support. I guess a problem for Synology is that they would have to tell users that if they configure IVS events at the camera itself (which requires reading here or watching YouTube)...

    Motion everywhere... :(

You have to remember the only safe way to get IVS working with either Dahua or Hikvision is to get a NVR from the same supplier. And even then you’ll run into problems as seen in numerous threads, because the NVR still requires you to configure some things directly on the camera. Not always...

    Motion everywhere... :(

Yes, that is the correct script. It does require some basic experience with Linux and Python to get started. I put some comments in the code as well since I published it as a quick hack rather than aiming for it to be well documented. Please contribute if you feel up to it!

    Motion everywhere... :(

Just to add as I wasn’t clear in my post above: I have IVS working with Synology Surveillance Station with a separate polling script, that sends detected events to Synology who starts recording and pushes notifications. Works great more or less, being the workaround that it is. The only big...

    Motion everywhere... :(

My experience is that if you don’t find your Dahua camera model among those that Surveillance Station offers - which is a good chance since Dahua has a trillion models - pick something close to it in terms of specs. That might work better than the GENERIC ONVIF profile. Also don’t expect to get...

    Motion everywhere... :(

I have exactly the same setup as you. Check out the last page of this thread: Trigger blue iris with IVS?. You might be able to get the script running on your Synology, but I use a RPi so Synology updates don’t mess up my custom scripts and configurations.

    Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam

Thank you for the info @aristobrat! Fingers crossed. How would we learn about this update’s release? Edit: realized you linked a thread. Now watching Andy’s posts in that forum!

    Dahua - active deterrence

I’d recommend reading the last few pages of Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam if you’re interested in the Active Deterrence part. It works, but the “AI” also sounds the alarm on deer and cats even though the Human/People filter is enabled, at least of out the box, for me...

So @NOAMattD, did you get around to use the IVS watcher script I uploaded?

    IVS calibration - vertical?

I’m reading the IVS calibration guide over at IVS/Global Setup - Dahua Wiki and there’s one thing I don’t understand in the instructions. After calibrating the vertical reference lines, you’re supposed to calibrate the horizontal one (with “weight verification”, as it happens). In the guide...

    Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam

This is so weird to me. I wonder if the AI functionality - whatever that is in reality - didn’t make it into this part of the IVS. At the same time, detecting a person vs an animal is one of the easiest AI cases out there. I’m not a huge fan of companies overselling their products and this one...

    Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam

What are your experiences with the AI IVS functions of this camera, specifically People Detection? I have Human as Effective object enabled, but both Tripwire and Intrusion Box triggers on cats as well as deer. Maybe I have to do the whole calibration thing, but I thought AI would spot the...

    Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam

Re the value for money as mentioned above, I think these cameras really do require a Dahua NVR (or Blue Iris?) to perform as indicated in the spec sheets. If you're running them off their own hardware (default settings; i.e. 1920x1080p, 25 fps, VBR, plus IVS enabled), at least my camera is very...

    Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam

Right, I'm running all those functions directly on the camera rather than on a NVR. That probably doesn't help the camera load. I just noticed I had left "Motion Detection" on in the camera and turned it off. Let's see how this plays out, but at least the ping replies went from ~300 ms every...

    Review-OEM IPC-T5241H-AS-PV 2mp AI active deterrence cam

Has anyone purchased this camera? I have and got it delivered by Andy some four weeks ago. Unfortunately I have a lot of problems with disconnects. The camera just stops responding on the http port for a minute or so, then responds again. This happens several times per hour. It’s not a...

    Trigger blue iris with IVS?

@NOAMattD I’ll get it uploaded to GitHub. Since my last post in the thread I have got push notifications to work as well, but the push is on External Event and it’s not linked to a recording like Motion detection is. Works pretty good though. Beware that I’ll likely not write documentation due...

How to view Dahua cameras without browser plugins

Same. The below goes for MacOS Mojave: Just received my T5241-AS-PV from Andy and was surprised to see that every function including IVS seems to work without a plugin in Chrome. The only exception is People Counting that prompts me to download a plugin, redirecting to NACL in the Chrome web...

How Can I Easily Playback SD Card Recordings?

Sorry, I confused DS118 with DS119j. The j model is lower end/budget but very capable imho. I’m upgrading to a DS118 because I need more processor power without paying too much. At hardware prices above the DS118 I would go cloud based instead of on-premise. I have considered doing the same as...

How Can I Easily Playback SD Card Recordings?

If it’s not a problem moving away from the RPi, I would consider a Synology DS118j with Surveillance Station. Has an app that works great. The DS118j is $100 + a HDD. I’m using its predecessor DS115j with a single Dahua camera while using it as NAS with a bunch of servers on it. That takes it to...
