    I soldered cat5e wire to the cam wires, shrink wrapped them, then used a punch down female connector. For 4&5, 7&8 I just looped the wire back to the second connection. I used this type of connector...

    Fluke meter set too continuity. Pin to wire, pin to wire, etc... Then I cut the connector open which confirmed the testing. They had bridged 4&5, 7&8 with solder combining the tabs.

    I got mine fixed...WooHoo If anyone is interested... Pin 1 = Violet 2 = Brown 3 = White 4 & 5 = Blue (same wire) 6 = Green 7 & 8 = Yellow (same wire)

    I found the problem with mine, completely my fault. The seal at the top of the junction box wasn't sealed & got water in the box & connection. The connector is shot. I'm going to replace it and see if it comes back alive. Going to need a female connector, any suggestions as to where to get one...

    With some help I think we may have figured it out. Set the ip of the cam to the NVR address 192.168.188.xxx Set the gateway address to 192.168.188.1, This is where the problem lies I think as I was setting it to 192.168.1.xxx In the NVR set the channel to manual.     New development. Its online through the router. I put in the 192.168.1.72 and its seeing it through the router in the NVR. Even the PTZ controls work.

    I'm very open to suggestions so don't feel like you may insult me ;) I'm a complete rookie at this stuff and may be doing something extremely simple wrong. Michael BTW: The cams work perfectly fine hook to the router, logged in through firefox.

    Ok, back to work at this.... In the NVR.. I have attempted to hook into 7, 8 & 16th channel. Some observations: When I put the channel in manual mode the camera is still being power by poe, confusing. Also the NVR has port 8554 but the camera has 554, do I need to change the camera to 8554?

    Awesome, glad its working. I on the other hand am at a complete loss, I have tried everything port configuration, protocols that I can think of to no avail. I must be missing something simple but can't see it. Oh well, if it was easy everyone one would be doing it. Michael
