How to: Standalone (headless; no NVR) Huisun Mini-PTZ installation

Correct, two wires: a signal and ground. You could technically cut the mic out wire, but its quite short, and doing so compromises the original wiring of the mic.

How to: Standalone (headless; no NVR) Huisun Mini-PTZ installation

Thanks @RicardoK and you are very welcome. That's a great idea to have an RCA plug. If you needed that functionality, you could purchase this unit, cut one of the female ends off, splice the bare wires into the terminal block, and then you would be able to use the original male/male cable I have...

5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

@atom - it appears as though the ingress of the cable assembly is sealed from the inside of the assembly with the use of some flexible caulking. Here are some pictures of the bullet unit disassembled. Mine is a 3.6mm lens. Tight on time this week but if ya'll want comparison shots against a 5mm...

How to: Standalone (headless; no NVR) Huisun Mini-PTZ installation

@avi6581 - the sound quality with the mic in this tutorial isnt anything to write home about but it does the job. I upgraded to the 'golf ball' mic and it is a bit better than the one I used in this tutorial. Both mics have a bit of environmental noise. Aside from filtering it out at the mic...

5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

I'm not a networking whiz, but I think I may be able to do some routing and VLAN magic to get the same client port on multiple clients to talk to different server ports on the same server. Good news is when I buy one, if we have an issue, we'll be in the same boat and can maybe put our heads...

5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

@atom - did you get a 3.6mm version? I'm trying to get it in bullet form because the turret isnt ip rated (if I'm not mistaken?)

5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

Shame the turret isnt IP rated for outdoor use. As soon as you give the green light on BI I'm picking a 3.6mm bullet up for quals. Thanks for being the guinea pig @klasipca!

    Do I need virus protection?

I've got all my machines behind a linksys wrt54gl router running dd-wrt, which is a linux iptables firewall. Only port 443 is forwarded through stunnel to the BI server. Been running similar setups like that for years and I swear by it, HTH

Caught in the act!! Huisun mini ptz 10x zoom

@reeves1985 - nice vid! I've got some car-oriented carhartts that look dirty in real life and look REALLY dirty in infrared. Something about IR makes me look like even more of a dirtbag ;) Question for you - are all four of your IR LEDs lighting up when you turn them up via the web UI? I think...

Automatically call presets / settings based on time of day

@hook3m: the huisun mini PTZ cam (to the best of my knowledge) does not have this functionality. However, Blue Iris software does (you can define calling presets on different cameras depending on your global and local camera schedules). If your goal is to have the mini PTZ call presets...

How to: Standalone (headless; no NVR) Huisun Mini-PTZ installation

Per request of @chewie, I'd like to share how I set up my Huisun Mini PTZ as a standalone surveillance unit. I liked the idea of using higher end IP camera hardware instead of consumer level analog cams, but didn't want all the overhead, complexity, and expense of enterprise infrastructure...

    Mini PTZ v1: Firmware Discussion

Re: Mini PTZ: Firmware discussion @klasipca - thanks for uploading the newer firmware. As an update, I've tested the new 'Park' feature, which is under configuration tab -> PTZ. The user manual briefly alludes to this feature on pg 36, but refers to it as 'IDLE'. I've verified that the...

Huisun mini ptz problems (plz help)

@dalepa - I haven't had time to fully troubleshoot but it does appear to be bandwidth related. I am using a series of different cisco switches to route traffic. The cam is competing for bandwidth on a crowded subnet along with other vlans and subnets. Its not the proper way to deploy a cam by...

Huisun mini ptz problems (plz help)

Thank you @reeves1985; I believe you may be correct it is bandwidth related, however I am able to reproduce the issue on the same wired LAN (100Mbps). Also please note that a workaround is to view substream data, however the intent is to resolve the issue within the main data stream (full...

Migrating HV cams from NVR subnet to LAN subnet

@carpii - thanks for posting this up, very helpful. Can you please confirm: 1. 'Status' field within DS-7608NI-E2/8P/A IP cam configuration interface reads 'Online' with D04 on 192.168.1.0/24 subnet? 2. No functionality of D04 has been lost as a result of having it on a non-NVR subnet?
