    Here's a direct comparison Between an ACTUAL starlight (5231R-ZE), a cheap Chinese 4MP (4431R-Z), the Hikvision 2385 @ 4MP, and the Dahua N51BI23 @ 4MP. I've uploaded them in order of Best to worst (in my opinion). The 5MP "Starlight" seems to only capture detail in certain parts of the frame...

    With the Exception of the HIkvisions (which all, stupidly, have no gain controls) everything was set at 2560x1440 (4mp-ish), and 1/30 Shutter. Gain controls were @ 50, and all other settings were at their defaults.

    yes, I understand that. I have the third picture up there to show you the kind of distance I'm at at 12mm focal length with a parked vehicle. My problem is the crappy Swann PTZ won't allow fast enough shutter speeds to catch them MOVING. It just doesn't have enough low-light headroom.

    I have a 8mp (4830EM-AS) ordered, and 2mp (5231R-ZE) on the way from Andy as well as a new 5mp "Starlight" (N51BI23). Would you say that the night time performance is the same or similar between the 8mp vs. 6mp?
