Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

Ok, I need to re-do this test tonight (HFW1831E is still flip-flopping between day/night profiles) because after I was done setting the parameters, the 1831E switched to color, so I wasn't able to get my 1AM static recording (with ALL the parameters the same). However, I did manage to get some...

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

If I don't get behind schedule at work, I will have it up tonight and post the results tomorrow. I have been unable to see any definitive results on which sensor it uses. You can scroll up the page to see the photos of the sensor and PCB itself (no branding or model numbers). Does anyone know...

Yes!! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! All problems w/ interface have been fixed! (Can now adjust sliders w/ out them getting "stuck" on the mouse cursor) @EMPIRETECANDY The firmware that the camera shipped w/ is 2.622.0000000.4.R, Build Date: 2018-04-29. I will set this back up and get some...

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

Yes, I've been swamped w/ work, but managed to get some night shots to do an interesting comparison. The short answer is that this camera has MUCH better optics than the Pro Series 8MP (I tested this against the $240 5831R-ZE and it meets or exceeds it's performance, even w/ it's poor bitrate)...

Newbie Help needed for Night time LPR

You're in the recorders web UI, which will not let you adjust shutter speeds. You need to access the camera directly. Option 1: Plug the camera into the same router/switch that your computer is plugged into. Download ONVIF Device Manager ONVIF Device Manager and install. It will show you the...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

I'm not sure I would say it's "better" , but it produces nearly identical image quality for a much cheaper price by dropping some of the features that a lot of people don't need.

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

Should have it up this week. Was left running the store w/ my brother-in-law for the week while others were on vacation so I didn't have time to "play" lol :-)

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

Agreed. The only saving grace here is the H.265, and even then, I'm only running this at like 4-7fps. Not sure how much would be lost by running higher fps because, for ID purposes, it doesn't matter. Maybe they'll increase the bit-rate w/ a firmware update. I have the 5MP "H.265 Lite" camera...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

They are the best you can get for the money. I honestly don't know why you would need the 5231 if the goal is simply outstanding security footage at night. Plus the "Mickey Mouse" arrangement of lens and IR lights (to Me) is more preferable for cleaning and aesthetics.

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

So far, I'm liking this camera more than the "Pro Series" 8MP. Although it only has a max Bitrate of 8192kbps and they have a stupid glitch w/ the WebUI (settings sliders and an "IR Light" option that does nothing....) This does provide a better image than the other fixed focus 8MP that I had...

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

This wouldn't be too bad but it's $350 https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/6321 I'll keep posting updates here as I get this mounted outdoors and possibly get firmware updated. (very wonky out of the gate). I'm not sure if this is actually 1/1.8" Sensor, but it's at least...

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

So far it performs (image quality) on par w/ the Pro series 8MP cameras. However I'm having an issue w/ the LED's not turning on so I'm withholding my review until I can verify w/ Andy whether or not the unit is defective. Un-like the 5MP H.265 Lite cameras, it has a Max bandwidth of...

    Review-Dahua IPC-HDW2231RP-ZS Starlight Camera-Varifocal

Awesome! this firmware also works great on the IPC-HDW2531R-ZS. Thanks @EMPIRETECANDY ! :-) Dahua still does not have official firmware for this camera on their website.

    Dahua IPC-HDBW4831E-ASE thoughts?

According to pretty much everyone here, that's a no-go. Even messing w/ Modded firmware could lead to a situation where the camera no longer works w/ the NVR due to a firmware update. For me, it's just not worth the hassle, and the security risk.

Dahua 4k Starlight with 1/2 sensor (CVI only for now)

That's the Vari-focal version, but others on the forums have advised against purchasing from Alibaba because it excludes the shipping price and is generally geared toward bulk purchases. Just e-mail @EMPIRETECANDY to see if he's got some in stock. He'll give you a good price and he ships...

This does indeed fix the Day/Night switch issue. I tested this by putting a bag over the camera and it switched to my Night Profile and back to my Day profile after I removed it. If you're having issues w/ it switching back and forth at the dusk/twilight moment, change the day/night...

Dahua IPC-HDW5231R-Z IR settings and Profiles

Day/Night switch is now fixed: 20180523 Firmware for DH_IPC-HX5X3X-Rhea However, it still does not allow you to set a different IR setting during "Day" and "Night". Here's my $.02 though. It doesn't really matter, because the IR doesn't come on when in "Day" mode anyways. So when it does come...

Advantages of the new 5631 versus 4631?

ePOE Cams will also work with Regular NVR and PoE Switches, just at normal speeds and distances. I'm using several w/ a Reolink NVR and PoE injector (standard) and it works fine. You will not get ePoE length cable runs and speeds is the only caveat.

Advantages of the new 5631 versus 4631?

The 5631R-ZE is a Vari-focal Zoom model: https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/14291 whereas the 4631EM-ASE is a Fixed Lens that you have to select your focal length when ordering: https://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/productDetail/14271 You'll get slightly better optics in...
