Amcrest IP5M-T1179E freezing after 3 days using 2020-12-30 firmware

Back around Jan/Feb 2021 I bought several Amcrest IP5M-T1179E cameras to replace older IP2M-844E 1080P Amcrest domes. After running the new cameras for several months and comparing them to similar cameras from another vendor I decided to buy a few more. I bought the new ones 1 or 2 at a time...

Search a single camera over several weeks

Thanks for your response. What you described is a "binary search". That is the method that I used. As it turned out, I was the one who moved the object - inside to protect it from the winter weather.

Search a single camera over several weeks

Something disappeared from a place where I keep it under cover outside. I suspect a yard worker may have taken it. Problem is, it could have happened any time over the last three months. Is there an efficient way to review long periods of activity from a single camera? The camera is triggered...

    Unattended hidden BI server

Also, I have BI running as a service, so it comes back up automatically if a reboot occurs.

    Unattended hidden BI server

My server and switch are plugged into a UPS that will give me about 15 mins runtime. Outages longer than that are very rare where I live (12-year old community). The room is in otherwise "dead space" under the stairway. I cut an access panel in the drywall in my workshop which, conveniently...

    Unattended hidden BI server

I've been running BI for about four years and have grown from about 8 cameras to more than 20 currently. I had been using an i7 processor laptop but had to move to a server to support all of the cameras. I decided to locate the server and POE switch in a small, hidden room and manage BI...

UI3 repeated timeouts with BI 5

Well, since no one replied to my original post, I concluded that it was likely a situation that was unique to my setup and not commonly seen. After much more troubleshooting, I narrowed it down to the Ethernet card on my server PC. I updated the driver, but no luck. I happened to have another...

Windows 10 Update Causing Strange Camera Behavior In BI5

For the most part, and for the price, I've been pretty satisfied with them. The bad cable termination was my own fault. Here's a screen shot...

Camera image continually shifting light levels at night

I was only having the problem at night in B&W mode. During the day, the image was rock-steady.

Windows 10 Update Causing Strange Camera Behavior In BI5

Hmmm... the 2nd ReoLink cam may in fact have a cable termination problem. I was just playing around with it and caused it to lose contact with the Cisco switch by wiggling the RJ45. I'm going to cut off that RJ and re-terminate the cable.

Windows 10 Update Causing Strange Camera Behavior In BI5

And the other laptops are a mix of manufacturers, models, cpus, etc. - not much in common other than Win 10.

Windows 10 Update Causing Strange Camera Behavior In BI5

You could be right about that with the BI server, but on my other laptops I have observed strange behavior probably dozens of times and only when an update was pending.

Windows 10 Update Causing Strange Camera Behavior In BI5

I have two ReoLink 5MP "eyeball" cams monitoring my front door. They were installed within a few weeks of each other as upgrades from some Amcrest 1080P "eyeball" cams. They've been working reliably for several months now, until yesterday. One of the cameras was offline in BI, but I could...

Camera image continually shifting light levels at night

I had a problem for a year or more that I finally solved. An Amcrest "eyeball" camera on one side of my house would continually "go darker" and then lighten up cyclically at night. The cycle time was 2-3 minutes IIRC. I tried swapping with other cameras of the same type, but the problem...

UI3 repeated timeouts with BI 5

A few more thoughts... All of the cameras are triggered only by motion detection. During the day, usually only 1 to 4 cameras are recording at any time, and only for 15-30 secs per trigger typically. At night, triggers are rare, but the timeouts still occur. The baseline CPU usage for BI5...

UI3 repeated timeouts with BI 5

I upgraded BI from v4 to v5 a few weeks ago. I like the new interface and nearly everything seems to be working, but I'm getting repeated timeouts using remote access from UI3. I've been using UI3 with v4 since it was released and rarely have had a problem with timeouts. I can't think of...

All camera images freezing but BI 5 admin otherwise running OK

Ha Ha, I was just browsing the main BI forum and saw that there has already been discussion on this topic. I searched before I posted, but somehow missed those earlier threads.

All camera images freezing but BI 5 admin otherwise running OK

That was it!! Thanks! I totally missed that. Still getting used to the new interface, which I really like. Maybe that button should be made a little harder to hit by accident, though?

All camera images freezing but BI 5 admin otherwise running OK

I've been running BI 4 with about 20 cameras for several years, so I'm pretty familiar with it. A few weeks ago, I upgraded to BI 5. Things seemed to be working ok until yesterday, when I noticed that all of the camera views on the main screen were frozen. I didn't even notice at first...

How to review one camera over multiple days

Thanks to all who replied. "in the clips list, click the camera icon to select "selected camera only" then click on that camera...only the clips for that camera will display in the list and on the timeline." I figured that out a while after I posted the question. Works pretty well, but I am...

How to review one camera over multiple days

I'm running 10 cameras. I want to search for an event that occurred some time in the last 10 days. The event occurred in the view of a specific camera, so I want to search just that camera. Is there a way to do that? (this is my first post to the forum, so apologies if I'm bending any forum...

Windows 10 error immediately on BI startup

I got it working! In the config window of the camera's internal software there are two separate H.264 definitions. I had turned one of them off. Just experimenting, but got me in trouble this time. Thanks again for your help! Now I'm going to read up on RTSP and H.264

Windows 10 error immediately on BI startup

I know nothing about RTSP. I'll need to do some reading. I think I screwed things up by messing around with the H.264 definition in the camera config window. Not sure how it should be set, but I may try resetting the camera to factory defaults and go from there. I've been experimenting with...

Windows 10 error immediately on BI startup

If you don't mind giving a little more advice, here's what's happening... Panasonic WV-SC385 is defined but the display window shows SC385 No Signal Camera works fine using Panasonic browser interface in IE 11 IP address in IE is 192.168.1.193 - same as in BI (port 80) Make and Model for camera...

I was already done before I saw your message to back it up first. Did you mean the registry? Or the Blue Iris config?

Windows 10 error immediately on BI startup

Just did it. Piece 'o cake, and it worked! Thanks again. Now... on to fix the original problem - the camera was working earlier, but then stopped for unknown reasons. Five other cameras (Amcrest POE) working ok. The camera I'm having trouble with is a Panasonic WV-SC385 PTZ.

Windows 10 error immediately on BI startup

Thanks for the tip. Can't say I'm comfortable editing the registry, but I'll give it a try. I'm actually an old IT guy, but pretty much obsolete now.

Windows 10 error immediately on BI startup

Apparently I copied an invalid IP address into the IP field when setting up a new camera. I've had this camera working before (earlier today and yesterday), but had been fine-tuning some parameters. Now I get an error window: "Blue Iris Video Security and Webcam software has stopped working" as...
