    Advice on POE Switches

Idk what the network infrastructure is or what it will look like given this isn't for home use but you may want to take this into consideration when you choose your switch, especially in terms of security and vlans if you plan on going down that route.

Help With First Camera Soffit Install?

Yes, eyeball is another term for turret. The adapter will work with the camera or you can install a pfa130e junction box after the adapter then attach the camera to the pfa130e. I have 2x3 electrical junction boxes that hold my cat6 and I will be using the adapter (pfa200g) then pf130e then...

Camera selection for specific location. Would a PTZ be suitable here?

As far as I understand the 130 doesn't bolt directly to a standard single gang junction box. If I'm wrong then it will save me from using the adapter.

Camera selection for specific location. Would a PTZ be suitable here?

You're right. What I meant was the pfa130. I keep getting all the jb models mixed up. As for the pfa200g, while it's only rated for indoor use it will be good enough for my application. The cat6 is in a junction box that is recessed up and into the soffit. As long as I have the cat6...

Camera selection for specific location. Would a PTZ be suitable here?

My soffits are 9ft above. I plan on mounting a pfa200g to the junction box, then a pfa137 to that then a 5442 to the bottom of the pfa137. The camera will be around 8.5ft off the ground when all is said and done. It may not be the best but it's as good as it will get given my restrictions.

Camera selection for specific location. Would a PTZ be suitable here?

Thanks for this, it's the info I was looking for. I have no experience with PTZ and was trying to figure out if it would work like I wanted to but it's clear that it will not. I'll stick with the turrets for now on either side of the garage door in the soffits. I have another junction box...

Camera selection for specific location. Would a PTZ be suitable here?

I'm in the process of selecting cameras for my new place and am looking for feedback on a camera for this specific location. I was thinking of getting two 5442s to cover the driveway but am wondering if a ptz would be better suited for this specific location. There's another junction box with...

    Dahua mounting questions

The jb housing the cat 6 is recessed in the soffit. I'd attach this adapter to it then another pfa130 or whatever to that then mount the camera. This would allow me to mount the camera a couple of inches lower than if directly attached to the soffit.

    Dahua mounting questions

A standard single gang junction box. That's where my cat6 was run to during construction as per code.

    Dahua mounting questions

Do you know if I can mount this adapter, then mount a junction box such as a pfa130 or 137 to it then mount a camera to the junction box?

Green hat looking for some recommendations.

Thanks for the replies folks. I really appreciate you taking the time to write out such thorough responses. We usually park in the garage and on the driveway. My work truck is too big to fit in the garage. We had an 8ft tall garage door installed which is why the soffits are at 9ft. Multiple...

Green hat looking for some recommendations.

There's only 1 way into my yard. I have a nest hello camera that covers it from down low and this will cover it from above. That being said I will have 4 cameras that cover the way into the yard.

Green hat looking for some recommendations.

I just measured, it's 9ft. After the junction box and the camera mounted probably closer to 8.5ft. I need a camera for the backyard as well, placed at a similar height so I might grab a 5442 fixed for now as I don't have a massive yard and that will allow me to tinker with it and learn BI...

Green hat looking for some recommendations.

After lurking for a while I figured it was time to make my first post. I'm looking for some turret style camera recommendations for my driveway. They will be mounted in the soffits using PFA130 junction boxes where the arrows are in the picture and will be PoE as I have Cat6 drops at each...
