    Chromecast working...!

I can say now using the new 3rd gen Chromecasts that the BI Android app casts quickly regardless of that 50Hz Mode setting. I have it switched that setting off now and it works great and the cams appear much faster than before with the old 1st gen devices. I did notice however, when I set up the...

    Chromecast working...!

Both my Chromecast (1st gen) devices took a firmware update this week (1.32.144770), after which casting from the Android app stopped working completely. I'm talking black screen on TV, not even a BI banner, and cams still showing on the app screen. Tried rebooting the BI server and using a...

Remoting to Blue Iris PC from different VLAN?

I looked into Jump Desktop a little further. I think it's the best solution I've ever heard of (admittedly have not ever looked around much). It can connect to the old private standard VNC and RDP hosts, uses encryption, can use Google account for auth, super-low bandwidth / fast interaction...

Remoting to Blue Iris PC from different VLAN?

Awesome to know about it. Thanks...! I used LogMeIn free version for many years and then it became not free, actually quite pricey. I had to quit using Team Viewer Quick Support for temp tech support sessions with customers (veterinarians with digital x-ray gear). It seemed like half of them...

Remoting to Blue Iris PC from different VLAN?

What @fenderman said. Run a web-based remote access program. If you don't want to pay for Team Viewer, there is another service called ConnectWise Control that still offers free accounts for small users Three hosts max, one connection at a time.

Stunnel can be a multi-host incoming router

I recently started using stunnel, which is the web proxy server supported by Blue Iris settings to provide an encrypted (HTTPS) incoming connection to the Blue Iris web server. My motivation for this was to enable the Android app Chromecast feature, which only worked for me with this HTTPS...

Possible to secure the BI web server?

How about that, learn something new every day. Thank you.

Possible to secure the BI web server?

Which I guess means installing a VPN client for Android or IOS that's made to play with whatever VPN you're using one the server?

Possible to secure the BI web server?

Would you be able to use the mobile app if the server is in a VPN?

Automated UI3 views to TV Chromecast

I still pretty new to BI (less than a year) and haven't even gotten to Blue Iris Tools yet. Could make a new career out all this stuff...

Automated UI3 views to TV Chromecast

I found a way to run UI3 fullscreen live cams or index on Chromecast from the Windows command line/batch files. Sessions can therefore be auto-triggered remotely from a BI alert or even a voice command agent like TriggerCMD. I'm using a github project called CATT (Cast All The Things) which...

Geofencing now reliable on my Android device

Oh... Weird it's there and not in Settings, ya know cuz it's a Setting and not Information hahaha. Handy to know about it, thanks.

Geofencing now reliable on my Android device

What reset button? I looked in the Android app settings and didn't find it. Actually I've been good with geofencing since getting a new Galaxy Note8, never worked on my Note5. I leave off any and all power-saving settings because the battery is fine all day and also Google Maps will keep...

Geofencing on Android not reliable unless opening the App

I have this version and geofencing still doesn't work in the background, you need to re-open the app. I have excluded the Blue Iris app from any power-saving control in the Samsung settings (Galaxy Note5) and tried it with no power saving at all on the phone, same result. I understand it...

Networking /Android app / making push notifications work

Yes, that's correct. The app and the browser connect to your Blue Iris server through the same address and port. You do need to have some port open if your want to use either the app or the browser from outside your LAN.

    Chromecast working...!

Dude, I got lucky. I was visiting my daughter and told her I was in the market for an all-in-one to replace my weak-ass i3 laptop in the kitchen phone nook where I keep the computer. I can't stand my current laptop's flat keyboard and low-res screen, and an all-in-one would have a big screen and...

Networking /Android app / making push notifications work

I don't know if this makes it more secure, but the only outside access to my network is port 443, which my router forwards to my PC port 443, which is an encrypted server proxy (Stunnel). Stunnel then forwards the connection to the Blue Iris server port on the same PC. Details on how to do that...

    Chromecast working...!

You're right I'm new to Blue Iris. A friend (abraxas11 up there in this thread) told me about it just this year when I was talking about the need for some kind of security camera(s). I think I impressed him (and myself) when I got it working. I found the the best notifications are SMTP->your...

    Chromecast working...!

I don't know why my firmware version would be out-of-date. I see it updating occasionally. Also I don't know how to tell which generation mine are. I have two they might be different.

    Chromecast working...!

There's someone else Chromecasting here? I thought I was special. :) I see your point about the log file, my Bingo moment was the first time the log file started without error, and then casting worked. If your's starts without error and still won't really cast then I get it now why we need a...

    Chromecast working...!

I honestly don't know how old mine are but I would guess around 2015. I'll have to install Google Home app (and go home) but I'll check it out. Did you try the spacing rule in the .pem file? This is straight from the horse's (stunnel's) mouth: stunnel TLS Proxy I too thought it was wrong and...

    Chromecast Not Working

I've had success, it requires a trusted signed SSL cert. It wasn't easy but it's cost-free. I wrote it up in the Android section as I don't know if the Chromecast feature was ever part of the IOS app: Chromecast working...!

I edited that filename mixup in step 3, thanks for catching it. The thing didn't work for me until I followed the spacing instructions, then it did. I learned about the spacing rules in stunnel's support FAQ I think. Anyway it works for me. I would note that the domain-cert.txt file contains...

Blue Iris Android app - notifications with image preview and how I got it working

I achieved this simply using the SMTP server settings in Blue Iris. With those settings BI will send an SMS or MMS (MMS includes a snapshot). You gotta give it your SMTP server Username and Password such as Gmail account, but there are other ways do do SMTP. Then you can give it your carrier's...
