JC IR Illuminator Wide Angle 160 Feet 6pcs LED Array Lights

Bought this from Amazon for $ 25 and a $ 9 - 2A power supply separately. Got it today. Okay for about 75 ft, not 160ft. Have my 2MP 4233 behind a window temporarily without IR at night. Used the JC IR light in the next room sitting on the window sill behind a fly screen (window open). I'm...

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

It's just temporary...mostly for learning. On gDMSS found on my phone while the alarm video is playing I can un-pinch the touch screen and the video zooms in. Found under Device manager, when you touch NVR, see the pictograms underneath, one is a computer screen with gear in it.. with it you...

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

I'm planning to have my entire roof replaced in late April/May. I don't want to have cameras installed with workers tearing the old roof off. I just got the NVR in January, and bought 2 cameras to test out if it would do what I needed. The cameras are sitting on my bedroom window sill looking...

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

Other thing I'm finding out, once I shut the NVR down, you can' t even play the OLD alarm videos on the phone that I've already seen. Reckon it stores them on the NVR.

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

The NVR camera system is hooked only to my home internet router. Yep - Remote viewing only used 100 MB of cell phone plan. I shut the internet (wireless) down on my phone while at home to make sure it went thru the cell 3G/4G plan. Videos do fine on the phone. On the gDMSS app "Device...

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

Push is working, sends short videos and pics. Beats Vtext. Only used 100 MB on the 3G/4G network so far testing it out. Have the streams on the NVR set to 720 P while I'm testing.

    Dahua Starlight Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-Z)

Could be defective..I found the silica bag in another of my Dahua cams. Wonder if it voids the warranty to take it out? After it absorbs moisture over a year, would you have to change it to keep the moisture protection? Seems kind of hokey..and too much of a variable.

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

Finally got gDMSS working on my 3G/4G cell network... Had the wrong address at first xxx.hopto.net instead of .org. I changed it to my Public WAN address that always comes up on the port checkers, with the port at 37777. It hasn't changed in the last 2 months anyway. Then entered the user...

Where are snapshots stored? (Dahua NVR)

Fastb - on the gDMSS Plus that I got working yesterday, it works at home when I activate wireless on my MotoG phone. Have it set up with NVR IP address 192.168.1.108 and NVR username & password. Doesn't work when I disable wireless on the phone, and operate phone solely on 3G/4G (cell...

Not impressed with Dahua NVR software

Would have to remember which channel goes with which view. Got my gDMSS live view to working (after I turned on my smartphone's WIFI). Will have to try it remotely on another network and also with 3G/4G cell signal.

    Network Security Primer

On Smartphone security, noticed my new Moto G Play with Android 6 doesn't have any anti-virus programs on it. After reading online suggestions for AVG, Avast, Sophos, etc I ran across one site that said you didn't really need a third party app, because Google/android had an internal app virus...

Would like to generate text message to smart phone when motion is triggered on an IP camera

My brother was sending me text messages with picture attachments, no problem. Just the NVR sending & mail/SMS arrangement will not.

Would like to generate text message to smart phone when motion is triggered on an IP camera

I have Verizon (and had a regular cell phone) and it will receive alarm notifications thru text messages using Vtext, but only the Start and Clear message, no alarm with picture attachment. I bought a MotoG Play 2 days ago and downloaded gDMSS (Google - Android). Have not set it up yet..

Not impressed with Dahua NVR software

nd Got a MotoG Play and went to search for gDMSS Pro. Found it on a site called APTOIDE. A search for gDMSS brings up gDMSS Plus & gDMSS HD (both by Dahua) on the Google Play site. Is gDMSS Pro a third party ap and is better than the others? Or just another name for Plus?

Need help with DDNS - Router - Cam setup

A double thanks to y'all. Came back from my brother. Could adjust the picture settings, stream rates, everything from his place. Wish some of those DDNS manuals would state "don't try this at home" :D

Need help with DDNS - Router - Cam setup

OOps I was doing the camera alone on the router for now in case I really screwed something up. I read single cameras can be viewed on the DDNS, and the menu seemed the same for the camera as NVR. I only have 2 cameras, using 1 to test this. nothing is permanently set up.

Need help with DDNS - Router - Cam setup

Question: I am at home on the laptop trying to test the Dahua DDNS & no-ip DDNS setups that I have previously entered. Will these work at home (to test) or does one have to go somewhere else (ie my brother's house) to test them (initially to see if they work)?

Need help with DDNS - Router - Cam setup

Thanks - looking at tutorials you sent. Do I enter the 8888 and 8844 (with dots) in both the camera & router? Did it for the camera so far. On the router the Lan config has the default gateway 192.168.1.1 in the primary and the public WAN in the secondary.

Thanks Fenderman..I bought a Moto G Play yesterday ($ 90) for that purpose, for some Dmss app. I'm trying to learn how to make the basic stuff work like it should, just to know it works and learn. I'm retired and was using a basic cell phone..still figuring out the Moto.

Just watched the video and redid the port forwarding. Zapped DMZ. Have 3 ports I'm supposed to use 8080 (since 80 is blocked), 37777 and 554. All show open by the port checker. Th cam IP is correct. I'm wondering if the Primary and secondary DNS addresses are okay between camera and...
