    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E AI Varifocal Bullet

Oh perfect. This looks to be what I am looking for. It has the newest tech with regards to AI and vari-focal turret.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E AI Varifocal Bullet

Just looking on their website, the IPC-HDW2531T looks like it might be the latest vari-focal turrent at 5MP. Not trying to hijack the thread, so if need be I will start a new one.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E AI Varifocal Bullet

Crap, I guess I should pay more attention. I thought this was a turret. What is the next best varifocal turret that is comparable to this one?

Sweet, thanks for the input. I am the king of analysis paralysis.

    Review-Dahua IPC-HFW5241E-Z12E AI Varifocal Bullet

Overall, would you guys recommend this camera over the 5231? I am going to be outfitting my house with a brand new system and I like that this has the updated alerting.

    Good monitor for 16 cams?

What is a good 36"+ monitor that would show 16 channels pretty well? Anyone using something like that? I don't want to just buy a $150 model at Walmart.

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Yeah, that's what I was kinda thinking. Just was one of my concerns. Thanks!

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Nayr, with the IP turret you recommend, what should I do to thwart vandalism? Is it just a risk I take?

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Ahh, awesome. Thanks as always Nayr, I have to get my quote list together for EMPIRE.

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Wow, thanks for the pics bigred. Those are pretty close. They look amazing. Nayr, can you cluster the Tribrid DVRs? I noticed there weren't many 32 channel ones and I am already putting 14 cameras on the 16 channel, I need to have expand ability.

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

No idea, they don't break it down. I will look into the details tomorrow.

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Yeah, that's what I would normally do. In this warehouse environment, that may make it harder than normal as each cable is attached to the rafters the whole way to the camera. I will need to look at the quote for the camera system my current employer got. I believe they wanted to charge us like...

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Yeah, I completely understand that from a materials cost perspective, i.e. Cat6 plenum costs, but adding in the cost of labor, this is where it starts getting a little out of hand. Putting on your contractor hat for a minute, how much did you guys charge back when you worked for the startup to...

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

OK, so if I wanted IVS, what do you think about the coaxial to Ethernet products? Something like: Jet.com - Prices Drop As You Shop This was just the first thing I found on google, pretty sure there are better ones. But you get the idea.

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

Nayr, are both of those going to have the quality that the turret has? I know the turret has the motorized lens, which it looks like the dome you mentioned does also. In fact, most of the specs look very similar for the lens. I just want to get as close as I can to that turret if I am using...

    Couple of Questions about IPC-HDW5231R-Z

After reading a lot about the Starlights and nayr's review, I am sold. I am going to be putting up about 13 of these in a warehouse, but needed to know a couple of things. Most of them will go inside the warehouse and hang down from rafters. That is easy, but two of these are going outside...

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Wow, those are really cool. Never thought anything like that existed. Ethernet is so flexible (pun intended) it amazes me what you can do with it.

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

I am not sure if there is any connectivity between them yet. I should know tomorrow when I do the site survey. That will clear up a lot, but I have a lot more information to give to them because of this discussion. Haha, yeah, that is an interesting use case for the Ubiquitis. They are so...

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

When I say cheap, this is crazy. $80 for a device that can do 5Ghz and 150Mbps+ at a 15+km range. This is a whole new world for me! Amazon.com: Ubiquiti Nanostation NSM5, 5GHz, 802.11a/n Hi-power 20 dBm Minimum, 2x2 MIMO AirMax TDMA PoE Station: Computers & Accessories

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Ahh, makes sense. That Ubiquiti stiff is actually pretty cheap for what it does. Going to survey the site tomorrow, will update on what I find.

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Never really thought 5Ghz had that kind of range when you look at the difference in signal strength on residential wireless devices. 2.4 seems to have better strength, but limited bandwidth. Never really looked into the limitations of each frequency though. Might be some good bedtime reading....

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

I am actually still thinking about the design. With the PtP stuff from Ubiquti, I might go ahead and run all the cameras to a centralized NVR via the PtP links and PoE switches. Before that, I was going to just have mutiple NVRs at each building and then "cluster" them, which I am still not...

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. This could get involved. I have been hearing more and more about Ubiquiti. I have used their UniFi and was pretty happy.

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

OK, that is good. I don't mind using h.265. I don't plan on using IVS at all, so that should be okay. Hypothetical question. If these buildings did not have WAN connectivity (think apartment building complexes), what are my options? I do NOT want to use WiFi based on feedback around here. Are...

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Wow, that is a lot on the bitrate side. With VPN encryption overhead and camera bitrate, that will be hard to find on the upload side. Hopefully VBR is very efficient.

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Just H264. Lower framerate also, I suspect 15ish. Good idea on the SD cards, will definitely do that. Will the 5216 support that ANR feature?
  27. W

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Yes, they are. Standard WAN. I was thinking VPN also. What is sufficient bandwidth per camera at maximum resolution on the Dahua Starlights Turrets that you recommend, nayr?
  28. W

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Yes, each building will have sufficient WAN capabilities. They are completely separated WAN circuits with no inter connectivity between each other, that's why I was thinking MPLS or VPN.
  29. W

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

Sorry, I misspoke. I meant if the NVRs were located blocks away connected by different WAN connections.
  30. W

    Connecting multiple NVRs together

I have been eye-balling the Dahua 5216 NVRs and couldn't find any information about running multiple NVRs in a "cluster" so to speak. They have hot standby capabilities, but the use case for these would be multiple buildings that are separated by a block or two, but connected centrally. Short...
