I've looked through the majority of it and it's definitely beneficial to read.

    Color Setting on on 2231?

Thanks for the suggestions and feedback on your firmware updating experiences. I haven't compared the firmware versions of my last batch, but I've compared others before and noticed that they sometimes came with different versions. That could very well be the reason why just the one has a mic...

True and I agree, was just making a point on how far IP cams have come since! You definitely pay for what you get.

Thanks and good discussion. This site "n3wb" user has now graduated to level "Young grasshopper" and is always learning new things!

    Color Setting on on 2231?

Even if they can't be upgraded, these cams were inexpensive enough to buy large batches of them at a time for what I use to pay or less for just one IP camera back in the 2005-2010 time frame. I think I paid around $750 for the last outdoor rated dome Toshiba camera in 2010 or 2011! It is now...

    Color Setting on on 2231?

Yes, the specs do say 2 IR LEDs but there is not enough contrast between them and the black areas to clearly make them out. I figured they would be just as visible at night (red glow) as the reflective background IR bulbs on the other models.

In this image you can see the lens in the middle of the clear glass area, a light sensor next to it, and a mic hole below the glass. Many of the lenses on Dahau cams are surrounded by a piece of dark foam making it look bigger than it is and the IR lights have a reflective background. The dark...

    Color Setting on on 2231?

I wonder if the latest models with the dark glass face have less noticeable red glowing IR lights in the dark. If anyone knows, please chime in. It's nice to not learn some things via trial and error!

Good to know about Andy, thanks. Playing with and tweaking the settings definitely can't hurt.

    Color Setting on on 2231?

I ordered many of mine via Aliexpress years ago (starting in the 2012-13 time frame) before I was aware of the ones available from Andy/Empire Tech, but would definitely consider him with any future purchases. knock on wood, I only had one cam with a built win mic that didn't work well (in a...

    Color Setting on on 2231?

trook, if loaded with the wrong firmware as fenderman mentioned, were you able to update it? I've purchased many of my cams from multiple Aliexpress venders and they say that updating the firmware is not possible so I haven't actually tried nor had a reason to yet either. It looks like the...

    Color Setting on on 2231?

I have about 4 different dahua camera models as well and they do seem to have slightly different white balance/color output as well. Although, I wouldn't say it's enough to be much of an issue so I haven't tried tweaking the white balance and related settings too much as well. Having many...

Recordings not getting deleted or archived

h_2_o, In case you didn't see it above, I edited my initial posting with my fix and have also pasted it below. "Once I moved the db back to the c: drive and then selected repair db it worked like it should and resumed normal archiving / deleting space management behaviors..." Did you get...

Recordings not getting deleted or archived

This thread has had many views but no comments yet and I pretty much figured it out myself, but at least it might help others with similar issues or questions. As equipment / service prices come down and ISP speeds increase, the way systems get built and such will definitely change over time.

Recordings not getting deleted or archived

The system definitely appears to work best with the db on the c: / SSD drive so I'll keep it there. Other site members such as PSPCommOp have said: "Also, I recently learned this but when you set up BI, keep the software files on the SSD AND the database files there too. Everything else should...

Recordings not getting deleted or archived

After rebuilding my system due to the SSD failing (the SSD controller possibly failed from getting too warm causing it to not be seen by the system), I attempted to use the rebuilt system with the bi db on the d drive (a 3 TB WD purple drive where the bi recordings are stored and is also in the...

    Vehicle speed determination from video

Good idea. I have at least one neighbor with a bird house, but I'm not aware that he has a camera in it and haven't noticed any glowing red lights either! It would certainly provide a good aerial view.

    Vehicle speed determination from video

Most of my current cameras are in the $200 or less range and mounting anything high up or by itself becomes a lightening rod in addition to being more noticeable. I do have plans to purchase higher resolution cameras at some point and install them in areas closer to the road to provide better...

    Vehicle speed determination from video

I currently have an un-utilized raspberry pi 2 & 3 I've tinkered with and those are interesting projects that could be a possibility so I may consider them in possible future projects. Although and at least in the near future, I would still prefer to utilize a s/w based solution that could be...

    Vehicle speed determination from video

Any updates on this? I am also very interested in this as others have mentioned. I currently pretty much only further investigate (manually review footage from two ip cams with a road view) individuals I witness repeatedly driving like a bat out of hell and what not, so something such as this...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

The AliExpress vendor I purchased it from sent me this link when I asked them about the latest updates available. https://www.dropbox.com/s/dl00qlbs5niqclo/The%20latest%20Anseer%20Mini%20IPC%20Software.zip?dl=0 The last time I tried to access it, a message stating that too much traffic was...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

The incorrect Google Chrome translation of the returned word "litter" was throwing me off a little there! In the previous posting #932 I added a screen shot of the CMS interface where the menu is missing the option of "Device config". Maybe the camera is not responding correctly and just needs...

Thanks for the tips on the resetting method. I certainly now won't waste time trying to look for a reset button that doesn't exist! I won't be able to work on it for a bout a week and a half but will certainly read / respond to any postings when time allows. As recommended, I may reset the...

Even if I can't change things such as FPS, I-frame, etc. I would at least like to be able to enable / disable or tweak the onscreen "CAM01" label, date time stamp, and such.
