    4MP using H.265 codec

Couldn't you say the same about MPEG-2 vs H.264? H.264 uses less hard drive but it requires more CPU cycles so let's stick with less sophisticated compression algos.

    Questions re: Area of Interest

Thanks - the way that this camera is mounted the left 1/4 of the screen will have lots of motion from tree leaves/branches so I wanted to exclude it from the motion trigger area - and from the video recording as there is no point in recording a tree branch 4' from the camera.

    Questions re: Area of Interest

On one of my cameras I am using the Area of Interest feature and the image is cropped to the AoI as I desire. Does this also mean that only motion within the AoI will trigger? Or will motion within the camera's frame of view but outside of the AoI trigger an alert. One other strange thing is...

Suggested POE injector for single camera

I have some locations where I have a 5 or 8 port switch in the room that then goes back to my main switch in my basement. So I need PoE injectors or switches spread around my house but in most instances I will only be powering one camera. The only other devices what I have that use PoE are...

Connect Blue Iris video streams to SageTV

So if cam1 is the camera shortname and 192.168.1.98 is the IP address of the BI server and 81 is the BI port then is the exact URL rtsp://192.168.1.98/h264/cam1 or is it http://192.168.1.98:81/h264/cam1 or is it something else?

Suggested POE injector for single camera

I am looking at buying some cameras and I likely will need some individual PoE injectors. Is this BV-Tech injector suitable for a Dahua Starlight camera and is C$9 a good price? BV Tech POE-100H 19W High Power 10/100Mbps PoE Injector, IEEE 802.3af Compliant: Amazon.ca: Camera & Photo

Connect Blue Iris video streams to SageTV

Yes, I am pretty sure that you can with the Generic Pipe encoder that was recently written to allow the capture of various types of streams. What is the URL or rtsp:// identifier I would use?

    Blue Iris is awesome!

I am a very new user and I just bought my license of BI. I have only scratched the surface so far and have probably only used 5-10% of the functionality but I have to say the BI is awesome! It allowed me to set up a system with various IP cams that I have bought over the years and get them...

Connect Blue Iris video streams to SageTV

I use SageTV for my home video needs and have SageTV extenders at all of the TVs in my house (it seems like that there are a few others that use both systems as well). SageTV is now open source and one of the developers has written code to allow it to capture most types of generic video feeds...

    Help identifying inexpensive 1080P Cam

Instructions are for losers! What did you use for a power injector for PoE? Or do you have a PoE switch? Do you think the camera is worth it for the price?

should i set up cameras with static or dhcp?

How do you set names? Using a hosts file?

should i set up cameras with static or dhcp?

One advantage with DHCP reservations is that you should have less of an issue with IP address conflicts as the DHCP server should not assign the same IP to two different devices. Another advantage to DHCP, although it doesn't really apply to cameras, is that you can do the DHCP reservations...

    Blue Iris - Website update

Because until I found this ipcamtalk website it seemed to me that Blue Iris may be dormant. The website seems to show lots of updates from 2014 onwards but it seems to stop as at Aug 2016. Going from the official BI website could lead one to think that BI is no longer being actively...

    Blue Iris - Website update

Maybe I am looking in the wrong place but the transition seems to be the last bit of activity on the BI website. The website seems to have stopped getting updates in Aug 2016. But haven't there been software updates since then? Recent News on the website talks about version 4.3.7. But on...

OS question - Docker for unRAID Linux?

Hi, I am considering purchasing BI to use to monitor my home as I have several IP Cameras, mainly D-Link and Foscam, that I am assuming can be used with BI. One question regarding the BI server software. It appears that it is only for Windows. I have recently set up a server running unRAID...
