Thank you! So, I'll use something like EaseUS Partition Master to transfer everything from the original hard drive to the SSD, and then replace the original hard drive with this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B071KVB4F8/ Is that correct?

Alright. This is all overwhelming. I'll be glad when it's all set up correctly. I'm definitely looking forward to getting off of the NVR because that has been a huge annoyance.

I don't see any advantage of a traditional hard drive other than price and storage. Why not put everything on an SSD?

So far I've learned the clip database (motion recordings if I'm right) should go to the SSD. Clips and archiving within Blue Iris Options I haven't seen anything about the operating system on the SSD.

    Cheapest Computer for Blue Iris

Thank you. So, mainly I'm assuming it's more reliable for recording 24/7 since there aren't any moving parts. But I've read some people say to use one hard drive for motion and one for 24/7 recording. Why is that? I can't just use the SSD for everything camera related?

Thank you! What do you think about this computer? HP Pavilion Desktop Tower, Intel Core i7-7700 , 16GB Memory, 2TB Hard Drive, Windows 10 home, 570-p033w I was able to get it for $184 brand new! If that isn't good for this use I'll keep it for something else. What is an SSD needed for exactly?

Thank you. I'd like to be able to learn how to pick out my own system. I've been looking here: Choosing Hardware for Blue Iris | IP Cam Talk I don't understand exactly what specifications are necessary for six 4K cameras recording 24/7 and motion activated at 15 fps. There are so many...

    Cheapest Computer for Blue Iris

Thank you, but I'm looking for something that is refurbished by a Microsoft Registered Refurbisher and hopefully with a warranty from the seller if there's not a manufacturer warranty. That's why I've been looking at Discount Computer Depot on eBay. I'm open to purchasing from another company...

    Cheapest Computer for Blue Iris

I'd like to get alerts for motion and be able to skip to the motion too, in addition to the 24/7 recording. And I just want it to record in the best quality which is 4K but I'd be open to meeting certain cameras to a lower setting.

Do you think they would honor a price adjustment if it was purchased back when you first posted about it?

$400 is too much.. Is there a cheaper system that would be sufficient? I'd rather not stick with an NVR but $400, plus a better UPS, Blue Iris, it's all adding up.

    Getting started—advice needed!

I have the system mat200 linked above.. You can read some of my experience with the system so far within that link. I've also been concerned with getting them secure on the Internet. Personally, I trust companies like Nest Cam to handle the work for me, but I don't want to pay the amount of...

What happens when you open Smart PSS on Windows? I started the app and typed in my NVR's IP address and port and it connected.

Easiest Way to Secure Camera System

I've been on the same WiFi network, and have tried on more than one device and even used the Smart PSS app on a computer. They all find the NVR, but not any cameras. You mentioned a subnet.. I'm not familiar with that but the NVR and router should both be at default. Also you mentioned about...

I haven't figured out how to change the shutter speed yet. I actually set it to export the video in MP4 format and it played fine on my TV. I haven't tried it on anything else though.

FYI - Some local Costco B&M have a Lorex / Dahua OEM 4K 6x camera kit and 8 port NVR for $800

My guess is the interface is similar. I don't know if it's just this Lorex model that has all these bugs or if it's Dahua in general.. I've noticed the Smart PSS is buggy too, and I'm not sure if that's because of the NVR or if this company just isn't good at software. It's possible a firmware...

Thank you. Right now I'm trying to get Tiny Cam Monitor to work over our current network. Well, I was finally able to get Tiny Cam Monitor to connect to the NVR, but it's only showing me one video feed. It isn't bringing up any of the others. I've tried copying the same exact settings and typing in the camera's IP address but it won't connect. It accepted the password I set for the...
