    Noob set up question

I have the WS-POE-8-48v60w paired with a gigabit switch I picked up for $10 - so for $50 I have enough POE 802.3af for 5 cameras at 15w each or more realistically 7 or 8 at 7w each. PTZ may need to jump up to 802.3at standard which is 25 w each. But as it is, it works well.

    Hikvision NAS NFS format problem

tello - which nas? Most of us have have good luck with smaller shares and separate shares. For the cameras I beleive the shares need to be separate and dedicated for each camera. For exmaple, I have a 500gb share running now on freenas. I was able to get it up to 900gb with no issue (only...

    Hikvision and FreeNAS - works

thanks bp and nayer. - the nas will serve as a backup for pics and such, camera files and ripped blue rays and other media.. non ecc makes it a hell of a lot cheaper. Looking at under $350 for non ecc - over $550 with ecc. Both mini itx and without HDD's bp - what are the specs on your nas...

good points.. didnt realize it was closed until I jumped in without looking - saw the 3 disk version was free didnt realize you had to buy a key for more. The support forums dont really get into that. its definitely easier than freenas, but it does a lot less. already switched back to...

hikvision mobile apps - ivms-4500 / ezviz only work on wifi, not mobile network

thats my point.. if the phone is on wifi.. doesnt matter where.. office, public.. wherever.. it works. As soon as the phone connects to the mobile network (ie.. verizon 4g) it doesn't work. If the phone is on my work network, its no different then being on the mobile network. I could see if...

hikvision mobile apps - ivms-4500 / ezviz only work on wifi, not mobile network

So far everything is working well with my camera except for mobile apps on the cellular network. If I am on any wifi network, local or work or even public, the mobile apps work just fine. If I am on verizon's 4g mobile network, I get a connection error. Even on cellular, I can log in to the...

Solving some NFS issues on Hikvision cameras

I took an old 80gb hard drive and added it to my windows 7 system - formatted it as NTFS, added 1 folder, shared it and low and behold it works as a SMB share. Not sure why it works and why freenas does not. No matter what I shared, the "Test" button in the software was always accurate even...

Solving some NFS issues on Hikvision cameras

Thanks! I did not partition anything. I simply created a shared folder under the root on each drive, and created a user called camera with admin permissions. I will look into hanewin in the short term and may also look into partitioning the drive into a smaller one. My goal was to build a...
