    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Hmm that is interesting, I assume BI is encoding straight to disk?

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

I use a Kill-a-watt meter, but I have a beefy router I home built running a i5 4 core CPU. And Windows is Windows, it can be overly complex. I am not saying it will be a problem, but for the average user a purpose built appliance is more turn key. And yes you can run Windows for months on end...

    Backup UPS for NVR5416-4ks

First your UPS is only providing power when the main AC is off. Sure Pure Sine Wave is best, but costly. I have 8 UPSes in my home protecting my very expensive home theater, and many computers. I have been using CyberPower 1500VA models for years, long enough that I just swapped out the aging...

Optimizing Win 10 to Blue Iris

Will BI work with Quick Sync on a Windows 2016 Server?

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

My simple router is drawing 30 watts, so I can't see how a blue iris system supporting 9-10 cameras will draw that little, but since I don't use it I can't debate it much. As for managing Windows that depends, monthly patches, the risk that if it looses power can corrupt system (while not common...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

I was in the same position as you, and here is what swayed me. I love building my own solutions. I built my own VyOS router because I waned more flexibility that I could get in standard consumer routers without spending a fortune. It will depend on how many cameras you want to support, but when...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

OK, spent the day running some cat 5 for the NVR and my Netgear POE switch. I have a home made VyOS router with 4 ports. I have 2 ISPs load balanced then my main internal network and fired up the 4th port is now dedicated to my NVR and cameras. Once I get it all set up the camera VLAN will be...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Ywah, so far so good. My drive showed up so I have that installed. This thing is super quiet. Now to just get my cat 5 run and cameras to show up next week.

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Well Andy responded to my email that it is a new NVR and he suspects it happened in shipping, which is bunk since is touched up, but at least it works fine. I will now remain very suspicious of these goods going forward. The unit was in a sealed plastic bag so not sure how or when it happened...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Well I powered it up and got the wizard. Configured the NVR, now just to get my HDD and a camera set up.

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Here you go, 3 on the top cover in different places. Nothing major, but noticeable and made me think this might be used or something. Definitely has me suspicious especially since these are gray market to begin with and I was hesitant to order direct from Hong Kong. I have not powered it up yet...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Yeah I may email him, one I open it and put my drive in it tomorrow. 2 very obvious scratches in the top cover that were gone over with black touch up.

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Received my NVR5216 from Empire Tech today, anyone else seem to have scratches on the NVR cover that were obviously touched up. Makes me a tad skeptical about this now and I had just ordered $1200 worth of cameras on their way....

Firmware for newer dahua cams as well as detailed specs available here

I am a bit confused. I ordered some cams from Andy and I thought they would ship with NTSC firmware (I am in US), but he shipped them PAL. I am having trouble locating the NTSC English firmware for the below cameras, can someone point me in the right direction? IPC-HDBW4231E-AS IPC-HDBW4431E-AS...

    Some camera advice....

I want to thank everyone for the feedback so far. I have narrowed my list to the folloing cameras that I will use based on location. I was wondering if anyone had first hand expierience with any of these? Most of them are in the Eco-Savvy 3.0 line, but the specs look very impressive. According...

2017 Dahua Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5231R-ZE), ePoE, NEW!

So if I buy these ePoE cameras and stay under 100m are you saying I can use standard PoE/PoE+ switch?

    Some camera advice....

Thanks, I have been dealing with Andy and will likely get my cameras from him as well, which is why I want to get it right up front. I have been building my list and based on feedback defaulting to the turret for anything out in the sun and open. I do have a few places (under porch, soffit and...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

The 24 port Netgear is very quite, it has variable fans so with hardly any load they are very quite. I don't have much on the switch yet and it will be another 2 weeks before I get the rest of my cameras. Ambient temps in the room where it is are around 70. Reading the Amazon reviews one person...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

I ordered NVR5216-4KS2 from Andy, looking forward to getting it. Next to finalize some cameras. I have 2 Amcrest to test with for now. I am leaning toward a WD Purple 6TB drive. NExt to get started on running the pre-wiring.

    Some camera advice....

I am getting ready to order a NVR5216-4KS2 from @EMPIRETECANDY and wanted to get some advice abotu cameras. Normally I buy off Amazon where I have great return policy so with the thought that I need to get the cameras correct up front and have to live with them I thought I would ask the...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

First, I just stumbled across this forum as I was researching Dahua NVRs. Whata great wealth of info on this forum and I have been trying to read as many threads as I can, but it is hard to get at all the info I need. I am in the US and was looking at Amcrest (they OEM Dahua) and was not...

Will the Amcrest's at least work easily? I already picked up a few to test with placement and such.

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Thanks, just building my cam list and going with @EMPIRETECANDY, he is very responsive. Is anyone uses the non-POE NVR5216-4KS2 version with non Dahua cameras? I know Amcrest is Dahua OEMed, but may mix some Dahua, Amcrest and Reoloink (some places I care elss about, but want cheap coverage).

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

Hi, I am new to these forums. Please pardon my questions, but I have been reading as much as I can to figure this out. I have been looking at various brands and would up looking at Amcrest then found out about Dahua as the OEM. I like the Dahua NVR 4216 and 5216, but am confused. I see...
