IPC-HDW4831-EM will not save motion detection

Fixed it, hard reset back to factory defaults and now everything works. Some darn quirky firmware.

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

Actually if you are covering 4 sides of a home, that burns 8 right away, then I have one in basement garage, one inside on front door and one outside front door, probably adding 1 more varifocal pointing to street on front of house, so will likely be 12. Longer term wife wants a bird feeder and...

Do you guys hide your cameras? Is it a deterrent or a capture mechanism

My wife asked for a front door camera. 11 cameras later my approach has been to place them to get best view, but my goal was to not make them obnoxious, but they are visible. Between visible cameras and my alarm company signs I hope the deterrent factor prevails over needing the video to hunt...

IPC-HDW4831-EM will not save motion detection

I thought I had a config in there, but can;t recall. It saves everything except Motion Detection info. Very odd. Going to do a hard reset on it today nd play around some more. I find the firmware in these cams a bit quirky. I have had to reboot a few when they get confused. Overall good cams...

IPC-HDW4831-EM will not save motion detection

So I have 8 cameras set up, all Eco-Savy 3.0 models of various MP sizes. I have one that when I setup Motion Detection it will not save the config. I have reset the camera and still will not save, sounds defective, but works in every other way. Any suggestions or do I need to warranty replace...

Dahua ePoE 6MP Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5631R-ZE)

I have some playing around to do and learn all the ins and outs of these cams and NVR. So if I do that with profiles will the sensor trigger day/night or I have to put them on a schedule? Trying to understand the manual with hundreds of pages of Chinese translated to English is difficult at...

I need WDR dueing the day, not sure if it stays enabled when camera switches to night.

Dahua ePoE 6MP Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5631R-ZE)

Thanks for the review. I have several of the new Eco-Savy cameras and wish this one were available before I ordered my Bullet equivalent as the Bullet is massive and a beast. Still working out how to get it neatly mounted on my soffit (yes I have seen the video with the metal bar, but the bullet...

    STARVIS vs Starlight ?

So I am still building out my system. I have a mix of 2MP Starlights, and then 4/6/8MP Starvis WDR capable cameras (all are in the Eco-Savy line) and a 6MP Varifocal. Only 1 Starlight is up and it is inside covering my foyer/front door. My initial observations are that MP matters for details...

    Dahua NVR 5216-16P-4KS2

If you buy from Andy mentioned on these forums the price difference will sway you to higher end model. I regret not ordering a 24 or 32 cam NVR since I am already at 11 cams.

    Max Bitrate

When I read the NVR5216 manual and play with bit rate settings I am finding that if I use VBR quality 6 and max out the bit rate to highest allowed the camera will send that bit rate even on an image that is static, seems odd as I would expect VBR to look at trying to maintain quality at lowest...

Dahua cams - moving my expenditure up a notch

The GS724TP V2 does support PoE+. I picked up one recently. Verify you purchase the V2, far more flexible. https://www.netgear.com/images/datasheet/switches/GS724TPv2.pdf

When to use an 8mp camera

Thanks, the issue is not a day/night thing as it is indoors. I need to find time to run some test, but seems to be at night when IR is on and if I walk by and trip IVS the camera seems to be going back and forth between total darkness and visible image. I am not sure if there is just enough...

When to use an 8mp camera

I am kind of mixed. I like the resolution of the 8MP cameras and to me if the IR pattern were better I would be happier. To me if my yard is pitch black I don’t see that the Starlight would buy me much except when moonlight might be decent. I have some more testing to do, it I a, thinking the...

    Dahua ePoE vs PoE

The ePOE cameras support normal POE as all my cameras are ePOE and I have them powers by a Netgear POE switch.

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Dumb question the non-POE 5216/5232 differences. Is the only difference the ability to handle 16 additional cameras, is the quad core CPU an main board the same and strictly a software thing? Is there any more processing power to the 32 camera version? I ask becasue I will wind up with 12-14...

General question regarding IVS and MD event recording and the related files.

So I have had my 5216 a few weeks now and several cameras. I a, getting the hang of the NVR and camera settings. Under storage and schedule I have all channels set for General, MD and IVS for 7x24 and I have pre-record set to 30 seconds on all channels. I am pretty sure I know what the answer is...

    Dahua NVR not recording Events

Also on NVR under Smart Plan make sure IVS is selected if you want IVS events. I have found the MD and IVS quirky at eims and sometime I find it best to web direct to camera to get it properly configured then make sure the Storage Schedule is set t record MD or IVS as needed. By default I have...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

So I have 6 cameras hooked up, 2 are 8MP, 2 are 6MP and 1 is 4MP. To save space I set the 8MP cameras to encode with H265+ and notice that now when I switch back from say playback to the 9 image screen that it takes from 5-10 seconds for the 8MP cameras to show back up, I suspect it load to...

    Conceal/NVR ????

My NVR is on a TV which both are on a UPS and the NVR is buried in the media cabinet. With my obvious cameras and already system signs if they want something in my home vs. moving on they will get it. some of this is more a deterrent than anything else. Besides they don’t know you have an NVR...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

I like that it prevents double writing and easier than them bookmarking large files.
  23. K

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

So this is a dumb question, when it does MD and I have 7x24 normal recording is it just bookmarking info or it generates a duplicate file for the MD time frame?
  24. K

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Yup, just checked and all channels show 7x24 for record and MD. Very odd. I think once I get all my cameras up I may factory rest everything and start from scratch, maybe too much tinkering around.

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

So on a separate note I have my 5216 for a few weeks now and really enjoying it. I have 3 of my 9 cameras mounted. 1 is defective and waiting on Andy to handle that one as well as the 3 back ordered cameras which appear to be in now. One thing I am struggling with is the quirky web interface. I...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

So I noticed on the US site there is V3.215.0000000.4.R.180119, can we use that or should we use that on the International version 5216?

Flash International Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 with US firmware?

I have an international 5216 non-POE NVR and am running 3.215.0000000.3, Build Date: 2017-12-11 When I go to the US site I see a V3.215.0000000.4.R.180119 should and or can I flash my international with the US version? All my cameras are Dahua International, but curious as the US version seems...

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

That is a very good point. I bring all my cat 5 to to a Netgear managed switch in my basement then the NVR can be anywhere. I ran a cat 5 to the family room and the NVR is in the TV media cabinet in the family room and it is on an input on my 4K TV. If I want to move the NVR it is a one cable move.

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

Since I never had the POE version I can;t say, but if you don't enclose it I would expect that it would be fine.

    Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 / NVR5216-16P-4KS2

The difference in the non-POE NVR is that it is extremely silent as the power supply is an external brick and the fan is thermal controlled and makes no noise. With a single WD 6TB Purple I can barely hear it, the drive is the loudest component.
