IPC-HFW8232E-Z motion blur and Amazon Guy

3D NR at 50. I saw some other thread said to "keep it under 50" so I hadn't played with that yet too much, since even a setting of 40 really craps out the video at night in the darker areas. For shutter speed (and then increase gain I suppose)... 1/100 I'd think should be enough...

IPC-HFW8232E-Z motion blur and Amazon Guy

Cam is currently on a test rig, but I'm pretty happy with location. Thinking height is good as well. However, there is some blur on the Amazon guy who walks up the path. When the motion slows, it seems like I should have enough pixels... Right now it's all default Exposure settings...

Old DSC Security System - DIY upgrade?

Those are awesome..... any other great links to cool stuff??? I need impact sensors... glass break detectors... water sensors... thinking of even doing some sensor mats for a couple strategic locations. (maybe not)

    aliexpress starlight?

Sounds like you are making a "lot" of justifications to get the cheaper chinese models. Are all those compromises worth the difference in price? I guess that's the question to be answered.

Old DSC Security System - DIY upgrade?

Yes, good point, and is exactly what I'll need to do. The wired sensors were installed in 2005, and aren't really enough to cover everything that "should" be covered. I'll need more glass break detectors, some impact detectors (someone trying to kick open a door), more motion detectors...

Old DSC Security System - DIY upgrade?

Ok, so i've pretty much decided to go with the DSC 1832 with the Envisalink EVL-4, and Smartserver running on a Pi or even my BlueIris/OpenVPN Win10 server.... so I can integrate it with Smartthings. Smarthings integration link is here Feeling good about this, thank you everyone for the...

    Do police ignore your video?

In my town, a neighbor had a burglary attempt, but alarm went off and they ran. Cops came knocking asking if I had cams/video. So that's why: 1) I'm getting my security system re-setup 2) I'm getting cams 3) I am here

Old DSC Security System - DIY upgrade?

I'm already well down the path with Smartthings. Control4 is out of my league. Thanks for the help @tangent .. yep. already found ELK and just absorbing. This website was a great primer too... http://tennesseealarmstore.com/

Old DSC Security System - DIY upgrade?

Thanks @tangent for all the help. Now that I'm up to speed (mostly) on the security cams... I'm looping back around to this. I just measured that zone5. Using the 200ohm range of my multimeter, it was measuring 3.9. In the 2000ohm range it was measuring 004 So I'm not in that kohm range...

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

Thanks @looney2ns I've been reading there, and places like here: Camera Configuration — openalpr 2.2.0 documentation Not sure I have a better choice of camera placement that is on the house at the moment due to trees and whatever else. So... figured I'd try it out. If it doesn't work well...

LPR Cam - This angle good enough?

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

I have the IPC-HFW8232E-Z with a 4.1mm ~16.4mm lens... going against the 1/1.9" Starlight image sensor. I also am testing with the IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 which is 5.3mm to 64mm lens, going against the 1/2.8" Starlight image sensor. With the 4.1mm going against the larger sensor... there is LESS zoom...

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

:-D Yea, seriously... I do have my test rig doing rounds around the house right now. Definitely glad I did that based on the suggestions here.. Some 8' high locations i chose should definitely be lower at 6' to get the angles/recognition I need. Taught me a lot about the zooms or FoV I'll...

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

Reading up on that protectant.... seems it polishes pretty darned clear. Can't see that it 100% UV protects anything though... but I'm going to give it a go with the wedge. Thinking to have a starlight at the corner of the house looking down the path to the door... zoomed in so I get an ID...

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

Thanks for the reply. Don't think Option 1 would work due to the WF. (wife factor). I'd need to set something pretty ugly up to get that to work. Has anyone used the windshield glass protectants on camera lenses? (see that link) It suggests it has some UV protection... and lasts in the rain...

Is there a good small camera for front and rear doors?

I'm trying to figure out what I can use for my front door and am looking at using the wedge listed in this thread. But.... I have this one problem.... A bright as F@$#CK sun that is DIRECTLY in front of my door.... it seriously burns holes in your eyes when you step outside in the late...

POE Switch recommendation (20 ports or more) for a Blue Iris setup

My brain said bullet, my fingers typed turret. I have the IPC-HFW5231E-Z12 Documentation says “less than 13 Watts” and my POE+ switch measured it at 11.9 with IR on. This particular camera has a 200m IR range and looks like 4 IR lights. With IR off it was 3.9 watts. My IPC-HFW8232E-Z...

POE Switch recommendation (20 ports or more) for a Blue Iris setup

I’m not sure of your cameras, but my turrets pull up to 13watts when IR is on. (I measured 11.9) Other PTZs can pull a lot more. Will 190watts total be enough for you? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    OpenVPN Problem.

Hi Bboy. The dyndns comes from my Comcast Netgear C7800 router... then I port forward the OpenVPN port to the BlueIris machine OpenVPN Server port for TUN. This is purely just so I can access BlueIris via the web UI3 or use the BlueIris app on iPhone.

POE Switch recommendation (20 ports or more) for a Blue Iris setup

Same for me.. house built in 2005, just RJ-11 and RG-6 everywhere. Basement already finished when we bought it. But.. they were smart, and did run a nice big PVC from basement to attic... so I can access 1st floor from basement drop ceiling, and 2nd floor from attic, all home-run to my switch...

    Blue Iris UI3

Regarding framerates.... I just read yesterday in fact on the wiki page for optimizing blue iris.... framerates need to be set on the camera itself. The BlueIris Default max FPS setting seems different... and if you don't have this setting a little larger than the camera setting... it can...
