I have the 4108p. Its a nice little nvr. It works with the smart features of the camera. The 4104 should suit you just fine. Get the biggest HD you can as it only holds 1.

@tygun if youre feeling really adventurous i was going to play around with a solar motion light and ir pass through plexiglass. I was going to swap out the lights clear cover with the ir plexi so its only visible to the cameras. Before i started this project my power company switched my...
I have a poe nvr. From my experience go with non poe nvr. Its an ease of use issue. The price difference between poe/non poe will cover the price of a switch.

Why cant you just put 1 camera where you propose the ir emitter to cover both doors? Or both cameras from there?
Im assuming you are mounting the emitter on something.

Okay i was planning on placing cameras on each of my doors and utilizing face detection but i might have thought its more than what it is. I know face detection triggers on the camera seeing a face and will record, alarm and snapshot. I also thought that it isolates the face only in the...
Has anyone tried this? I have firesticks galore and am thinking this is the cheapest way to have all of my tvs able to view the cameras?

My house is over 100 years old. When it was renovated in the 70s the owner never pulled the old wiring. They just ran new stuff. Running wire internally would be a nightmare especially for a person that has no experience doing it. Paying someone to run it isn't an option either.

I was hoping there was another option besides a switch. Maybe ill use the 1 to 4 poe extenders i saw in a post. At most ill run 8 cameras and that will mean only 2 wires coming through the wall.

I'm running all my cables on the outside of the house in conduit. What i would like to do is put a patch panel in a junction box and have 1 line from the box going into the house. I'm network stupid so i don't know what this is called. When I Google patch panel it seems they are all 1 to 1...
No im not. I have a hole neighbors that have already called the cops concerning my cameras and he told them that as long as im not recording audio i can have as many cameras i want. I know PA has goofy wiretap laws and even conversations in public aren't necessarily recordable without consent...
Ok thanks. Yes i have dahua equipment. Guess mic cameras are a no go. Since its tax return time its ordering time.

With cameras that have built in mics is it possible to listen without recording the audio? PA has very strict wiretap laws and i don't want to risk it.

You're going to have to forward the ports and to connect from outside your network you'll use your cable modems ip.

I agree i had a hell of a time getting email to work and its overwhelming in its output. Spend the money buy the premium app and use the alerts on that.

Connecting to the camera while on the network at work is simple. Its also easy to connect to cameras from outside the network but there are steps to be taken first. Since you're at work youd probably want to run it past the it guy first as you'll be exposing the cameras unless you go through a...
Does anyone know if the Dahua branded corner brackets and dome wall mounts will match up? Im thinking of just going with the ptz domes mounted on the 4 corners of my house.

I second point 1 and 2. Being in this hobby only a year now i wouldnt have bought a poe nvr again. Although at the time it was a money decision as i didnt want to purchase a seperate switch. My next nvr will not be poe.

Ive been contemplating the harbor freight solar motion white led lights and buying a sheet of pass ir polycarbonate. Ill either remove the light cover that comes with the light or fix the pass ir over it. The ir sheet I'm looking at should pass no visible light.

My comcast router died in an electrical storm. I got their new box and it's ipv6. I'm trying to get my remote access back through gdmss but I don't know if I can plug it the ipv6 address. I found my ipv4 wan gateway address on the router. Will this address work?
