Board Type IMX 178 or IMX 185

IMX185 will be better for low light. There was a pic posted before which compared it to the 178 and it was clearer. I don't think anyone here has had a camera with IMX185

Mini PTZ v2: 4x optical zoom version

It might just be the cameras auto setting prioritizing high shutter/more gain rather than low shutter/low gain. Tried manually setting it to 1/25 shutter or setting a gain limit if there is such an option?

    Hikvision's new 4MP 2-series

I saw a similar bug with a turbo hd camera. You need to power down the camera and restart. I can't remember what causes it but the camera acts strange when you access the OSD menu. Updating the DVR might help. It only happens with the D1T . I also have other turbo hd models and it never happened.

    $69 motorized varifocal 4x (2.8mm-12mm) Longse

It does, but youtube videos I've seen of the imx124/s2l look really good in day time. Either its just not great in lowlight or longse are putting low quality lens on it.

ds-2cd3345-I firmware bug and h265 not work

I don't think that nvr supports h265, just h264+ Not sure what the difference is but h265 is much more common in China so to use it, it's better to have a Chinese nvr.

Just got my Hik's - a few beginner questions...

I believe there's many compatibility issues with h265. Most people just stick to h264 but hopefully someone can help you. Any chance of a snap from the camera to see the quality?

Mini PTZ v2: 4x optical zoom version

Switch delay is the delay between switching from near IR to far IR. At least that's what is is on my Hikvision ptz which actually has an opposite issue, too sensitive to light. It switches on too late and off too early. On default settings it kept switching ir on/off if the ptz IR was reflected...

Does sharpness make a picture worse?

Does sharpness make a picture worse? On the left is a Hikvision cam with sharpness at default setting of 50, on right with sharpness at 0. Without sharpness the picture looks much more natural, detailed and has more color especially noticeable on the plant. Do you normally reduce sharpness...

Strange behaviour in image on DS-2CD2132-I

The iframe is much more noticeable if your bit rate isn't high enough. What settings are you using? Put the 'smoothing' option to clear to reduce it as well, but the image may freeze slightly at the iframe interval.

5 MegaGixel 1/1.8" low light destroyer for $90-AVOID LONGSE JUNK

As far as cctv cameras go, that is a a massive difference. It's not what you can see, but the detail in what you can see along with lack of noise.

DS-2CD2732F-IS blurry picture - unable to focus

Yes it is variable zoom. I guess you have tried the other direction? If so, either camera is defective or broken by forcing in wrong direction.

    4Mp ip camera HI3516D + OV4689

Hottest point is surely the vrms which are usually rated well over 100c

    4Mp ip camera HI3516D + OV4689

I wouldn't worry too much about the heat, its probably well within spec seeing as there's so many cameras with the hi3516 chip. The plastic casing doesn't help, the dahua is metal? so it dissipates the heat better.

Images from TVI system very choppy

Most likely the button is a little joystick, press to select and up/down/left/right to navigate. Have you tried restarting the cameras first? Menu should disappear then, the camera should really have a menu timeout though.

Images from TVI system very choppy

UTC means it can be controlled by UTC controller (or it might have one built in on cable with the connectors) but for ptz control, I think its only if DVR and cameras match. The DVR interface looks like a rebranded hikvision but the cameras are not.

How do I figure out what size hard drive I need to hold a weeks worth of recordings?

Re: How do I figure out what size hard drive I need to hold a weeks worth of recordin I'd recommend 1080p, 4k variable bit rate, 12-15fps. Motion recordings during day and continuous at night. Motion always goes crazy at night due to bugs/rain etc.

I don't believe that menu is from a Hikvision turbo hd camera. I have most of the variations and none of the OSD look like that. Can you show me what the camera looks like? With Hikvision cameras you can use the ptz control of the dvr to remotely access the camera menu, even though the camera...

Does the dvr interface on your pc look anything like this? To remove the menu, use the ptz controls on right side once the camera view is selected. +iris is to enable menu, arrows to navigate, +iris to select. You should be able to find the exit using these controls, or try -iris

    New & confused!

Which camera model is it? The top connector isn't something I've seen on mine and I have a good few of the turbo hd. Use the grey bnc for hd image, the black is standard analog.

Images from TVI system very choppy

Are the areas where you're viewing the laggy footage able to connect locally to the same network the dvr is on, for example can you log into the router which is connected to the dvr? If so, all you need to do is setup the dvr/ivms4500 to do remote viewing locally rather than through the cloud...

Images from TVI system very choppy

I have a hikvision tvi system. First off, because its analog, viewing directly on the dvr gives the best quality because its uncompressed and unaffected by bit rate. This is something even IP cameras can't do, the uncompressed 1080p tvi image is amazing. I don't have such an issue viewing...

    DS-7208HGHI-SH + DS-2CD2342WD-I issues

I had the exact same issues as you've been having and modifying the password after disabling the camera lock worked. I didn't use quick add though as I left the camera and dvr with different passwords. Just delete the camera and re-add manually, should work fine.
