    NVR questions from NOOB

never mind, I found your wiki page links in another thread..... I have Bi on my system but this is not my call but i might be able to persuade him to find a P.C. to do the job. Let me ask this: If he did use a P.C. running BI 24/7 what kind of speed/ processor would be needed to view 8...

    NVR questions from NOOB

Anyone care to take a crack at this? 3) Do most NVR's come with apps to access the nvr realtime via phone, ipad or computer? Aftermarket app recommendations? Most people want to view events that have triggered the system.... We plan on using a Hikvision 7600 series NVR. Thanks again in...

    NVR questions from NOOB

Hi there. Haven't posted in a while. I have a relative that dragged me into his "project" of installing 7 IP camera's on his exterior. I use BI but for him that's not an option. He's looking at the Hikvision 8 channel NVR sold on ebay. He plans on using 7 channels of 1080p cams. So I told him...

I have one license- How many PC's can I install to? I know I read someplace how many but can't find now. I currently have it installed on 2 PC's......One runs slow and make me wonder if it's not a legit installation. Bob T.

BI aspect ratio appears to be 640x480?

Just realized that 1280x960 is the same as 640x480 aspect ratio.....The funny thing about these el-cheapo cams is that I had to use their supplied phone app to install the cam to my network but had to use P2P ID finder and IE9 to access the cam to set it up in any meaningful way. The phone app...

BI aspect ratio appears to be 640x480?

Camera's resolution= 960...Only two choices: 960p and vga. It is set to 960p. Camera resolution says: 1280x960 I'll try the anamorphic option.... Well, definitely changed it. I'll have to place something round in the view of the camera to see if the distortion's been mitigated. I'll wait for...

BI aspect ratio appears to be 640x480?

I looked and it's camera 1 on both cams (the third isn't plugged in). I didn't change the cam number myself but I looked anyway...... How does one know if one is 'pulling video from the substream'?

BI aspect ratio appears to be 640x480?

I just installed 3 new bullet IP cams, 960P, (generic) and installed them to BI. All's well EXCEPT in BI the aspect ratio appears to be 640x480 and the video is distorted (stretched top to bottom). The cam's display correctly in the setup browser (P2PID finder) in a wide screen format. Is this...

    VPN Primer for Noobs

My Linksys router has settings that imply it will bypass the firewall (default) for VPN "passthrough". There's checkboxes for: IPSec; PPTP; L2TP and they are checked by default. They are under the Firewall TAb and under the heading of "VPN Passthrough". Perhaps the ASUS has similar settings?

    VPN Primer for Noobs

Firstly, my grandkids are dumber than a rock and declare that they're 'expert' in proficiency in computerese because they use many social media apps and download music.....They don't know, what they don't know, as the saying goes and I find that true of many of the last couple generations...

Flash Sale!! 2MP & 3MP Vari-Focal Dome IP Security Cameras!

Well, I got it recording. I had to figure out the goofball way to fill in the schedule (no checkbox for all) and then waited. It's recording. I like to record continuously on the camera because now and then something may happen in the background, like a dog or an animal knocking over garbage...

Flash Sale!! 2MP & 3MP Vari-Focal Dome IP Security Cameras!

I am using both. I'm pretty savvy with BI and have no issues with that. My only issue is setting up this camera to record on its own, 24/7. I stumbled on the browser issue so it took my attention away from the recording issue. When I get home I'll take a second look at it, now that I can see all...

Flash Sale!! 2MP & 3MP Vari-Focal Dome IP Security Cameras!

Thanks to Ryan for making the suggestion regarding browser. It did occur to me last last night at 3am but I was too tired to go any further...... I still need some insight regarding this setup, though. Maybe I have a misconception but I thought all cams recorded 24/7 "continuously", around the...

Flash Sale!! 2MP & 3MP Vari-Focal Dome IP Security Cameras!

Yes, I mean the browser...I'm using Google Chrome Version 59.0.3071.115 (Official Build) (64-bit), which I noticed just updated itself as I went to locate the version...... What I meant by app is that I open SADPT tool and launch the browser from there by double clicking the IP of the camera...

Flash Sale!! 2MP & 3MP Vari-Focal Dome IP Security Cameras!

Sean, I just bought a couple of the 2 megapixels from you about a week ago. I'm going to need some help with some things in the setup, specifically the record function. Firstly, I have the camera activated and it's streamed to BI and is visible. My problem's with the setup apps for this camera...

    P2P Finder- active x controls

Well, given no one answered this I'll answer it myself. I took an old 12" Samsung laptop running WIN7 and rolled back its IE11 to IE9 and loaded up the IP cam software, including the OCX (active X used for the IE interface to the cams) and all is well.....If you go this route you have to go into...

    P2P Finder- active x controls

I have a couple of SRICAM's bullet outdoor types that I used to be able to access via the P2P app that used IE and active x controls. Needless to say this stuff hasn't been updated in a few years so it doesn't work anymore. I can't use the IE interface anymore and when I use Chrome I don't have...

How do I connect doorbell to IP camera?

I know this is a really old thread but it caught my eye because I have neighbors nearby that are looking to mimic the "RING" doorbell. I don't know why anyone would only want to record only when the doorbell rings (and I don't think that's how the 'RING' works either) but here's my small...

inhibiting win 10 upgrades from rebooting pc

No, I don't have it checked off. My original intent was to open it, at startup, as the 'normal' launch with UI on the desktop. Why windows treats it as a service I don't have a clue but it indeed runs in the background and is viewable in my client on my phone. I haven't looked at the Task...

inhibiting win 10 upgrades from rebooting pc

I have read some of this by googling. I do not have windows pro on this pc. The PC I use for my cams is an older laptop running ONLY BI and virus s/w under win10 Home. It's dedicated to only the cam system. EDIT: I found that article last night, Fenderman, and I skimmed over it but again, I do...

inhibiting win 10 upgrades from rebooting pc

Aristobrat: I'll have a look at that thread. Thanks. Well, there's a popup that says it is running as a service but it isn't launched until after login. The popup says that BI is running as a service but you can open the UI by clicking the shortcut, or something like that.....I tested it by...

inhibiting win 10 upgrades from rebooting pc

So, I want to know how to prevent win10 upgrades from interrupting and shutting down my cam system as a result of an update? If I'm travelling I want my pc to be powered up 24/7 and not interrupted by win10 reboots. Yes, I do have it attached to a UPS. I know about the 'scheduled restart' option...

Alerts and Clips not working on Galaxy

Well, having played with this app for a few days now I can say that there are bugs in it and one is that the ALERTS list never populates. The only way to see the clips is via the calendar icon. Not a complaint because this is 1000% better than what I had before. I just installed this app on my...

Alerts and Clips not working on Galaxy

Snapshot and record work in real time only. Why do you say that I will never have to email when on the road? When I say 'on the road' I mean travelling.....I travel to D.C. and sometimes to see friends in Virginia. If there were some activity going on that's been saved to a clip I wouldn't...

Alerts and Clips not working on Galaxy

Oh, I got that idea from looking at the little red recording icon on the screen. Guess that's what's happening on the PC. Makes sense though. So if one's on the road then the only way to email a clip to say the police would be to remotely access the PC and do it from there. Got it....
