Blue Iris or Synology Surveillance Station?

I've been demoing BI for about a week now and while I like what I see (and the UI3 update is great as well) my question to myself is whether I will be better served using BI or Surveillance Station on my DS3615xs. I have had good luck with my limited use of SS and I like it's features but I am...

    Blue Iris UI3

Just downloaded and am playing with the beta. Really liking it so far over the previous UI! Nice work!

how to remotely access another computer

Yep, Teamviewer will be your best bet. RDP would work as well but you'd have to go through hoops to all for remote access over the Internet (port forwarding, etc) where as TeamViewer will pretty much work right out of the box. You also won't have to do any port forwarding to use TeamViewer...

    PoE Switch Suggestion List

I will probably go with a couple of injectors until the beginning of the new year when I start investing in the full camera setup. I have one on order for delivery this weekend and will see how it works out. Thanks for the tip on Camel, I shop on Amazon a lot (too damn much) and this will...

    PoE Switch Suggestion List

Looks like the attic probably a dumb idea... so nixing that idea. Just going to have to run lines together into the attic from the server room/office. Bleh!

    PoE Switch Suggestion List

I looked over the list and it's super helpful. One thing I'm not sure about though is the best choice for my use case. Specifically I am planning on putting the switch in the attic where it can get pretty hot in the summer. So I'm looking at the units with fans and was also thinking managed...

    PoE Switch Suggestion List

Thanks for the list. Just a suggestion but you might want to convert this to a Google Sheets doc and share that out instead. Will allow you to keep it updated easier as well as eliminate concerns that the spreadsheet might contain malware.

    Reolink - good & bad

I still am not sure what you are trying to say as I never mentioned or used Arlo... but I assume you are trying to say they trick you into buying things like the Arlo thinking you are getting something you aren't. I get it. After reading here and elsewhere I can see there are features, like...

    Reolink - good & bad

Orbi is worse than Reolink? Why? I'd really like to understand why you would say that. I have a house that is completely unwired, at present, so wireless (for now) is my only option. The Orbi is the first solution that has allowed me to stream native 4K Blu-Ray video, wirelessly, from...

    Reolink - good & bad

To be honest the most surprising thing to me about this (or maybe not after reading through various threads here) is that you, a staff member, treats nearly every post/question/comment from someone about Reolink with contempt and personal attack. Are you an owner of this site? I would assume...

    Reolink - good & bad

Hi all, just joined the forums specifically because I was looking for camera info. Forget how I found it but... anyway here I am. I have to say I'm a bit shocked at the hate for Reolink. Granted I haven't done a lot of research... but I'm looking for some real info to compare to other...
