King Arthur couldn't pull me out of that. ^^^ That's an excellent FB group, btw.

I need a few of these made up.

    Arjun, where are ya?

Now people would be up in arms about the exclusion of trans, etc. You're right. Things were better before. Now I sound like my 90 year old father!

    Before And After

From trap house to legit crib! Stain looks good. Much better than the 'Ponderosa' colour stain I put on a deck a few years ago. Came out slightly pink!

Masters of the Air –Why so many bombs in Episode 7? - Fact Checking the March 8, 1944 Mission : WWII US Bombers

My father's uncle was in the Merchant Marine during WWII and did many, many Atlantic crossings. He mentioned exactly ONCE to my father about how they had to keep sailing past sailors in the water after their ship had been sunk, often by a U-Boat. No stopping otherwise your ship was next. Told...

    Arjun, where are ya?

I can't say I blame them. A bunch of young people, absolutely fit and at the top of their game, looking to blow off some steam and release the stress. Jealously is more where I'm at! The Onion did a great video on this exactly 10 years ago...

Masters of the Air –Why so many bombs in Episode 7? - Fact Checking the March 8, 1944 Mission : WWII US Bombers

Considering how fast they had to turn out new pilots, some of whom were in their late teens, this is understandable. Hard for many of us to imagine the responsibility of flying such a large aircraft with a large crew in those conditions. And submariners is another group which deserves our...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Here's a relatively recent article detailing power generation in Cuba. I remember the government making a big stink about Block 2 at Felton being finished some big maintenance plan. And then, in front of the national press, they fire it up and it burnt to the ground. That was around August...

    Arjun, where are ya?

For @Arjun and the rest of you pervs. There were two of them, probably sisters or cousins, but those pics are just for me!

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Yes, thank you for pointing all that out. 1) Yes, 4GW generating capacity. We'd be in big trouble if it was only 4MW! lol 2) Yes, 15Kwh battery. And an excess of panels. The only time we lost power for more than a couple hours was during the hurricane (name escapes me) in late September...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

Oh, I should mention that the island's national grid has about 4MW generating capacity. Demand in the summer usually peaks around 3500MW giving a fair bit of leeway for lack of generating capacity for X, Y and Z reasons. Demand right now is about 3300MW (unusally warm for March) and generating...

    US Elections (& Politics) :)

The boilover has been caused, primarily, by the deficit in electrical generation. Two years ago, it was the power plants that were in need of repair and caused widespread blackouts due to load-shedding. Now, the power plants are in better shape (relative term) but there's a shortage of fuel to...

    Hall of shame

I've seen a lot of 220/240v devices with standard NA plugs. Cuba operates on both 120 and 240 and "usually" the 240 receptacles are marked as so. My buddy accidentally plugged a 120v angle grinder into an unmarked 240v receptacle. The grinder almost jumped out of his hand before the BANG you...

    Let's see what today holds

OOOOOOOHHHH! Night after last, some foreigner was following a transvestite up the street asking for something back. Sounds like "they" robbed them of some jewelry because he said it was his deceased father's. "They" left and then a patrol car rolled up (maybe coincidence, maybe not), he got...

PoE extender and two cams on 1 wire

I had the same issue with the NVR port when I installed my first POE duplexer. Setting it to Bridge Mode in the settings fixed it. https://ipcamtalk.com/threads/dahua-nvr-only-one-camera-per-port-solved-nvr-must-be-put-into-bridge-mode.66561/

Airbnb bans the use of indoor security cameras....

Correct. Which is an issue for many, especially if they live on the property. Oh, and outdoor pools can't have cameras covering them which is a HUGE issue for some insurance companies. I wonder if AirBnB will backtrack a bit on this.

Airbnb bans the use of indoor security cameras....

I can see the use of indoor cameras in certain indoor areas such as stairways and hallways where rooms or small apartments are rented to different people. Think more of a bed-and-breakfast situation. Being on a few Airbnb host forums on FB, and being a host myself, most people are against...

    Doubling Up CAT Cables

As others have said, pulling more cables than you think you'll need is the ideal situation. Failing that, I've been using a couple of these for a couple years. They're in large junction boxes and these same boxes are often exposed to the hot Cuban summer in excess of 12 hours. The boxes get a...

    1/2.9" vs 1/1.8" vs 1/1.2" Camera

As already pointed out, the difference is night and day between 1/2.9" and a 1/1.8" or 1/1.2" sensors. I'm swapping out Dahua 2431 variants with a 1/3" sensor to Dahua 5449 1/1.8" sensors. Not only is the night image much, much better but the technology is much, much better on the newer/more...

    Remote/Wireless POE Switch?

I don't use my Nano M5 for my cameras but my primary internet is supplied by through a Nano M5 from a distance of 2km away. As long as the antennas are aligned, the signal is flawless.

    EmpireTech 2024 Spring Sales

How many other suppliers provide such great service and couple lotteries a year? Andy is the only one that comes to mind. Can't wait to start sniping the refurb list. Bought two refurb cameras off of him and never had an issue! Always a great deal!

Worlds First Review - Dahua DH-IPC-HFW5449T1-ASE+D2 - Dual Lens Full Color 2.0

If you're dealing with inconsistent lighting, I'd go with the 5442 series. If there's not enough light any given night, it can go to IR. Too bad your neighbours aren't more open to more lighting. Pulled this off the 4K/X and 5449 last night. Going to drop both gain and NR a touch more on...
