Thanks for posting these!! I'm trying to explain to our friends that have a small farm that they should really have cameras at least on their driveway and the back access road.
My emails to my verizon phone stopped a month ago i get this message:
The response from the remote server was:
421 4.2.0 209.85.166.48 server temporarily unavailable AUP#CDRBL
I'm converting to pushover.
I put an SD card in my 5442, but I can't seem to figure out how to look at the footage.
Do I have to remove the card or can it be done via the browser ?
thanks.
I'm just rereading this today and I'm confused as to what the best option is for a camera with substreams enabled.
To get the best video when something is detected, should I be using continuous + alerts (or continuous + trigger) instead of continuous?
thx.
Right a qr code that activates some app that sends you a message.
You could put a note on the door that says, "text me at xxx.xxx.xxxx" and accomplish the same thing without paying $12.
I had a problem connecting via VPN when my home network and the guest network I was using had the same IP address for the first 3 digits. Both address were of the type 192.168.1.x
I have since changed my home address to 192.168.237.x and haven't had a problem since.
Another great thread.
Here's a couple of tricks.
wire coat hangers are great. need to drill an exploratory hole in sheet rock, say going up through the ceiling or through two walls? Cut the straight long portion of the hanger with wire cutters at an angle and use that as your drill bit. small...
have you looked on ebay? something like this may work.

an easy way to do this is to logon to you bi machine. bring up the command prompt.
at the command prompt use the CD (change directory) to you blue iris folder and do a dir command like this:
C:\Users\me>d:
D:\>dir blue*
Volume in drive D is Blue-Iris
Volume Serial Number is 8878-5941...
I'm not sure this would work, but you could use a scheduled python app to cause blue iris to trigger at the same time every day.
Here's a couple of examples of python scripts that will accomplish triggering a camera. The second one at github has a simple command line interface that could be...
I have a door opening to a deck facing due west. If I put a camera there it will get direct sunlight into the lens for a few weeks during sunset, maybe 20 minutes. Is this an issue for the camera? And, if so, what's a good solution?
I just went to HD and got a 10'6" fence post. It's 1-3/8" diameter and certainly strong enough to support the receiver.
My next project is to start reading and understanding how to set up LPR and fine tune all the settings.
I got my camera installed and working. Thanks for all your help!
Here's a picture. I'm using a pair of Ubiquiti nano station M2 (2.5 ghz) with the transmitter in the attic at the highest point and the receiver 8 foot off the ground next to a tree. Right now it's on a 2x4, but I'm trying to...
Interestingly, I don't see NetTime listed. But I think the issue is caused because my second NIC is an "unidentified network" which defaults to public and can't be changed to private.
One of my cameras has a wrong date and time (year 2018!). How can I check to see if it's trying to connect or failing to connnect? The net time log doesn't show any camera activity at all.
