Raspberry as storage for my videos

some cool stuff, a little more than what i need though! my stuff is pretty basic, im trying not to over complicate it too much... :P as the old engineering motto goes, if its not broken, it needs improvement!

Raspberry as storage for my videos

my pi2 is running ok now, they are pretty flexible little devices. i have it tracking my wan usage (via snmp), tracking local weather (temp, humidity, pressure, and dust) via some adruinos i have around the house, monitoring some door sensors (and triggering blueiris accordingly), acting as a...

Any cheap tricks to run cable in attic through soffts like a 18' tent pole or ?

running into a similar jam, i have taped a few of those bamboo poles for potting plants with hockey tape together and it worked fine. needed 3 or 4 of them. once running through a ceiling i used a 12' piece of molding, although that wouldn't work for an eve. didn't know they had special...

Zyxel ZyWall firewall router worth the $

no experience with the product you mention, but with that money you could get yourself setup with pfsense. not the most friendly firewall to setup, but solid and lots of options once you have it up and going.

Tapping into the Ethernet Cable to give Power to an IP Camera

hows the volume of the fan? thats usually the killer with poe switches.

Tapping into the Ethernet Cable to give Power to an IP Camera

you need an injector or poe switch as well. there is no usable current in the cable if your using just a regular switch/router. a number of NVRs will have built in poe switches as well. you'll also need to watch the voltages (for the injection and the cameras) as well as watch the poe...

Raspberry as storage for my videos

the pi can do some neat stuff for sure! im hooking mine up to some door sensors as well as temp sensors. I also have a relay going in to trigger my garage door to turn my phone into a door opener remote. the door triggers will report status back to my phone as well as trigger alerts in...

Raspberry as storage for my videos

The raspberry runs a version of debian so ispy wouldn't work. Raspberries don't have much processing power either, so youll run into issues on that end quickly, I/O is also limited with everything going though a usb 2 chip.

    POE switch 802.3af

hikvision cameras need 48 volt poe, so that won't work (it only does 12v or 24v). for cheap ive had good luck with this place: http://wifi-texas.com/ you can also pick up some cheap used gear on ebay, some of the old netgear poe switchs or procure poe switches, although probably not as cheap...

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

I was thinking the same. I'm not sure I want to offload work to my nvidia card anyway (when it is supported) when the CPU isn't taxed and I use the machine for occasional gaming too.

    4.2.8 - January 7, 2016 - Hardware Acceleration

There was a new one last year, steam had it on sale over Christmas for $10 so I gave it a go, and it's actually really good. I don't think you can run a nvidia card and Intel gpu at the same time. There was an option to run two gpus like that on an older chipset, namely as a power saving...

Can BI be installed on 2 computers but only record on one?

right click on my computer and click on properties, it should tell you the model number, for example, mine says i7-4770k. the bit after i7 is the important bit to understand what your processor can do.
