Best way to downgrade Blue Iris without losing settings/recordings?

just run the old update file and you'll be fine. all the settings will remain. you can always export the settings as well, just in case. hit the gear button in the top left corner, then hit the export button. i would try the newer version first though, 4.4.8.9 is out now.

    Detached Garage

i would go inside the breezeway as previously mentioned, shouldn't be that hard to get into even if its not accessible. wouldn't be much holding the sofit on. pull an extra cable or two as well, just in case, or use big conduit that's accessible for pull in the future.

ip camera and loss of signal

everything is wired and runs though a cisco switch (with separate poe injection). the power is injected into cat6 at the switch, then split out at the camera which is why i suspected voltage drop. i though it might have been my wire or my crimp, but the voltage drop is pretty much the same on...

ip camera and loss of signal

I have two cameras that periodically drop off and give a loss of signal in BI. the cameras in questions are 12v generic cameras (like the top201) off aliexpress. i thought it might be a voltage issue (from v drop over 50' of network cable) but the voltage measured a minimum of 11.3v at the...

Why does no one set up their IP Cameras in this fashion?

i have my pc/bi and cameras all plugged into the same router, so option C? :P the router/modem that isp's provide isnt usually that robust, so I would shy away from option B. option A works just fine, but you need two nics, and you can accomplish the same things with a good switch and vlans...

    4.4.7.2 BREAKS Speco SIP cameras

no, there is no location for old versions, a number of people on the forum save them though, so you either have to save them yourselves, or just ask here and someone will have the version your looking for.

    4.4.7.2 BREAKS Speco SIP cameras

are you using mpeg4 or mjpeg with the specos? BI had a bunch of errors in the log with my mjpeg cameras (an old tenvis and some old no name) and i rolled back like you did and it was all fine after. i see the specs on the speco says they will do either (mpeg4 or mjpeg)

    Automated Trucks count and reports

haha, i like the selling point 'no phd required'. they do tend to over complicate counters and they usually rely on old technology. i remember using a serial port with a kermit terminal to download a counter less than 10 years ago, well after everything tech wise had gone usb (with exception...

    Automated Trucks count and reports

there are commercial systems that do that kind of thing. the cheap way is probably to go low tech with something like a raspberry pi with some sort of trigger like an ir beam that the trucks break rather than cameras. reading license plates and pulling the characters off the plate is a...

    New home surveillance set-up

conduit is even better! be pricey though and your builder might give you grief, they will want to just drill the holes in the studs and pull the wire (not my area, but if your supplying the wire, get stuff that is rated for risers and no cca). builders don't normally do conduit and the...

    New home surveillance set-up

you don't really have to worry about to much detail right now, just make sure you run enough cable everywhere. and when you think you have enough runs, add some more! always seem to need another run.... when you take possession of the house in 6 months, there might be newer models, or at the...

1 or 2 Camera Surveillance System Using Home Computer

maybe its climate (im fairly northerly in latitude) or situational related? i have 4 bullets outside and only one has an issue with spiders and it only get bad enough once or twice a year to need to pull out a ladder. the other 3, never had an issue and they have been up for a few years now.

1 or 2 Camera Surveillance System Using Home Computer

that will work too! having them separate does have its advantages, namely, it should be more reliably and an NVR does use less power than a computer. BI does have remote abilities for viewing if you ever change your mind. their phone app is quite good actually.

Install advice under soffit for dome camera, I botched my 1st install... PICS

alternately, get a dremel, make the hole an exact match to the junction box (looks like your whole is still smaller than that, space the junction box down with some wood, then caulk the slight seem around the junction box and soffit. if the soffit is kinda floppy, add some wood blocks on either...

1 or 2 Camera Surveillance System Using Home Computer

should work, those computers might not be power friendly but if they are already running, its not an issue. watch out for the hard drives, i would dedicate one of the storage drives to BI's storage needs, consumer drives have a high rate of fail as well, so you may want to look at something...
