Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Here's my backyard camera now in place :) My father had some 6mm thick steel plates around and he welded them together to around 65 degree angle by my request, and then I drilled some holes and made some wooden supports between the metal and shed roofboards to make it attach evenly, and also...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

That's what I thought you meant Looney. Nice setup! Although looks like it uses that standard pole mount that I thought a bit too big :) Meanwhile, I have "ordered" a custom-made metal sheet from my father that has welding machine and metal tools, and that's what I am going to use with this...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

You are right, it's not very sound, but I think bolts trough it (there is an empty space behind it) would hold. I have meant to paint that shed many times but... :D Tri-pod on the roof with a short mast sounds interesting, not sure how to attach it to camera though (and that would mean drilling...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

All right, I have ordered more cameras from Andy and planned where to install them. I have quite a few sheds etc that block the view so planning took time... In addition to few turret cameras, I am going to install two PTZ's (SD49225T-HN) and I am wondering if my installation plans would work...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Ahh okay thanks! I don't have (or plan to) attached any LCD screens to NVR, I thought people use these devices via Web UI or using local network anyway. Or should I buy a small LCD screen for this NVR? That does not seem wise.

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Yeah, I know that turret is not securely attached, I did not drill the holes deep enough for the screws :) But I thought it seems to be secure enough, and it's not that heavy. I tried to use old WD Velociraptor as HDD as I happened to have one extra, but that has extra cooling shield around it...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

So I finished my test rig for both cameras :) I tried my NVR first, and I managed to change the IP address so I can use it via my computer's browser instead of separate monitor. Apparently only Internet Explorer works. I wonder why there is no power button on NVR? Seems brutal to pull power...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

All right, I finally got my "getting started" set, that is: 1. NVR4108-8P-4KS2 (8 channel NVR) 2. SD49225T-HN (PTZ camera) 3. HDW5231R-Z (Turret camera) I ordered them from @EMPIRETECANDY and I have to say his service was as good as you guys have been saying! Also I was very surprised to see...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Thanks! Four masking zones is not much for PTZ camera that can potentially see a lot, but then again, I guess it will be enough as I can basically just draw one big square across my neighbours yard on one side and then another big square to another side :)

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Thanks! I had read those Cliff Notes before I found this thread. A lot of good info there! And yes, I will definetely go for at least 8 channel version. Too bad if Wifi is not reliable though. I wonder why they even make Wifi cameras then if those block your wifi Network so easily? I thought I...

Dahua 2MP 25x Starlight IR PTZ Network Camera (SD49225T-HN)

Hello everyone! I am planning to dive straight to the deep end, that is, going to this world of surveillance cameras from start. I have been overwhelmed about how much choices about brands and models there are, but finally come into conclusion that Dahua is probably the best brand and this...
