    Lightning

Electricity always flows in a circuit back to the source. Lightning can overcome the insulation between the sky and the ground, so there isn't much a mere mortal can do to prevent the current flow. The sky is one capacitor plate, and the ground is another. Lightning is a pinhole breakdown in...

Setting up PTZ and choosing Spotter cams...

I am new to this myself and intend to do something similar. To this end, I intend to use thermal cameras as spotter cams.

Successful change of 1/3" Dahua lens from 2.8mm to 25mm

I prefer to keep things simple. So I'll try the 16mm and the 25mm when I get around to playing with this.

Successful change of 1/3" Dahua lens from 2.8mm to 25mm

Thanks for the reply. It would seem you might gain another mm or 2 with longer screws. I am guessing about M3 x 15mm should do it.

Successful change of 1/3" Dahua lens from 2.8mm to 25mm

@CanCuba, I read this thread with interest. I may be able to get multiples of new old-stock of this camera in 3.6mm. (below) A focal length that doesn't interest me. A bit of time on the web, and I see (5MP) M12 lenses 16mm, 25mm, 35mm & 50mm. ( sometimes for a slightly larger sensor). I am...

    Blur on specific spot 5442-ZE

The crystals aren't anhydrous, they are very hygroscopic. Since I made the post I read somewhere on the web that they can absorb seven times more water than silica gel. Baking the water content out of the crystals makes the crystals into an anhydrous powder. Doing it at about 200 degrees C...

    Blur on specific spot 5442-ZE

I have just tried an experiment that seems to resolve in-camera condensation unobtrusively. It was far worse than what you are seeing. In the past, I once used bath flakes, not bath salts. Bath flakes are magnesium chloride as opposed to bath salts which are Epsom salts ( magnesium sulfate). I...

Mini PTZ v2 - Time Zone Setting reverts after 24hrs

No, it appears the camera is resorting to Beijing time, no matter what I do. Looks like a bug.

How to setup second location to access and control Dahua NVR

I am interested in achieving something similar. Initially, I thought I'd like to see my cameras from any TV in the house. It appears that HDMI over IP achieves this easily, but you don't get controls just vision. So I was browsing yesterday, and this guy seems to be going in the right...

Mini PTZ v2 - Time Zone Setting reverts after 24hrs

Well, my initial NVR changes didn't work. I checked after a few hours, and the cam time was still correct, but it defaulted to Beijing time the next day. This is a PITA, because all the day/night times don't move relative to this time shift. So, I did something else, which has seemed to have...

    Help tweaking 4K-T

And yet look how good the 6mm image is on the Hikvision camera on the first page of this thread. So it is doable.

    Help tweaking 4K-T

I don't know where precisely on this forum, and I may have understood it wrong. But I thought there was a reference by another forumite saying that @EMPIRETECANDY no longer stocked the 6mm because of image softness issues,

    Help tweaking 4K-T

@wittaj, do you know if the 1/1.2 sensor 6mm Dahua issues are being addressed? It is a useful focal length, that leaves a gaping hole in a lineup that has no varifocal option with that sensor.

    Help tweaking 4K-T

I thought I picked up on this forum somewhere that the 6mm Dahua has image issues. That 6mm Hikvision looks good, though. Will it maintain full functionality on a Dahua NVR?

On that basis, I have just adjusted my max shutter (ms) and my FPS to prime numbers.

I made some changes at the NVR end, we'll see in 24hrs.

Mini PTZ v2 - Time Zone Setting reverts after 24hrs

Any progress on this? I am experiencing the same thing on the recent Dahua Full-Color Dual-Lens 180° as well.

Direct orders from Europe - more information is needed for new customers

As I have recently made my first purchase from Ireland through Andy directly. I paid the couriers a fee (Vat + 15 Euro FedEx handling fee), and the transaction went smoothly. FedEx sends a text message, and you pay online before delivery. Custom duties were not listed on the receipt, but the...

OK, I'm stuck, no live view on new NVR, but camera is working.

I can't explain that, but all that ends well. Thanks, everybody. Oh, and I can see this in the Chrome browser, by the way.

OK, I'm stuck, no live view on new NVR, but camera is working.

Thanks @wittaj, I don't have a "P" version NVR , but I didn't see your post in time. I did change the NVR's IP address to suit my network, just like before AND...... Now, it works.

Ok, I am going to reset the NVR to factory defaults.

OK, I'm stuck, no live view on new NVR, but camera is working.

Agree with you that the ima I have double- clicked till I’m blue. I don’t have a Poe NVR the camera and the NVR have their individual IP address. I also have a choice of a main stream or 2 sub streams from the NVR. So it is not necessarily the same stream as the camera’s.

OK, I'm stuck, no live view on new NVR, but camera is working.

I have tried it on various PCs and bridged virtual PCs, windows 10, windows 7 and even windows XP, with the tiniest bit rates at the lowest fps. I have tried to stream minimal bandwidth substreams. There is only 1 camera and my Wi-Fi is strong. I don't think it is the connectivity. I have made...

    ptz vs eptz

Eptz is currently working on the IPC-Color4K-T180, but only in the camera interface. It is intended to be included in the new EI versions of the Dahua NVRs. But it isn't available yet; awaiting a firmware upgrade.

Done that, didn't work. As I say, it works with DSS express v8.

This is what I got: Cam's view on the left, NVR view on the right.

OK, I'm stuck, no live view on new NVR, but camera is working.

OK, it looks like I can get the NVR image through DSS Express, but it was quite a palaver to set up. But some progress. Ideally, I just need the client, not the server mode. (I assume that is for cloud service for big clients). But the client download only becomes available after the server is...

OK, I'm stuck, no live view on new NVR, but camera is working.

I am going to install DSS express. A forum search for this new message error seems to point to SmartPSS being buggy.
