Anyone running a Intel NUC Kit (super micro computer) for Blue Iris?

Wait it decodes the byte stream? That's incredibly CPU intensive and resource intensive! My understanding was that Dahua's NVR receives the byte streams and writes it out to HDD. This is based on their "320Mbps" bandwidth. Then there is a separate rating for their decoding, usually only up to...

Anyone running a Intel NUC Kit (super micro computer) for Blue Iris?

Edit Looks like this thing is 2.70GHz base frequency and turbos out at 4.5Ghz... It may be good enough 16 channel @ 4K recording and maybe 2 channels of 4K decoding... I really won't use much of the decoding. It's meant for streaming to it and saving the footage on the byte level. Then I...

Anyone running a Intel NUC Kit (super micro computer) for Blue Iris?

I'm thinking soon about making a switch from Dahua NVR to a blue iris pc server. But I want something with an incredibly small footprint. It's basically the intel NUC8i7BEH computer and wondering if it is more than capable enough to power a Blue Iris server... It

how many of you records in color at night when there's adequate back lights?

Every single camera of mine records in color at night. That's because our street is very well lit. This includes two of my HFW-1831E 8 megapixels as well. They pick up so much light/color at night, there is no reason for them to be in B&W

Problem with order from Andy (Empiretecandy) and need advice

I hope the package was insured. $1800 is a big order. The package would be big, difficult to just "lose". DHL shouldn't have given it to USPS. If they couldn't deliver, they should've called you to come pick it up by hold for pick up. Also, you claimed that the USPS main office barged it over...

How does Ring/Nest cam establish connection without port forwarding?

I've been trying to search on this and it is not clear. My sister has Ring and I'm damn near positive none of them know how to set up port forwarding, let alone their router. So then how does the app on the phone know how to access the Ring/Nest cams? A quick search reveals that Nest and Ring...

Just installed turret inside kitchen ceiling!

I am installing a second one this weekend in my upstairs ceiling hallway. Same camera, circular gang box, and PFA200G. This install is going to be more tedious because I have to climb into the attic crawl space and then route the wiring (being very careful to not step onto drywall and only the...

What happened to Live Cams Pro on iOS?

I have this app running 24/7 for a year now on iPad. It's great. But I cannot get ahold of the developer/owner. The app is also gone from App Store.

Lost set screw for 5231R-ZE turret. Where to buy?

While installing the 5231R-ZE turret for my mother-in-law, I guess the set screw was too loose and fell out half way during install. I was unable to find it but fortunately found a bolt that was the same thread and size. Does anyone know where I can buy replacement set screws and what size?

    Time overlap problem at 12AM-1AM

Hi I have a time overlap problem on a Dahua (amcrest) NVR which I just noticed. It seems to happen when the clock rolls over to 12AM. Basiaclly, the NVR has continuous recording but I noticed that when I click after 1AM, it jumps back to 12AM area. This tells me there is a time sync problem...

    WTS Dahua NVR5216-4KS2 For Sale

I may be interested.... couple of questions... Is this thing loud? (the fan) I have the 16P-4KS2 poe version which I'm using for my sister and MIL's house. That thing is loud just sitting on the desk. I've been wanting to upgrade my NVR but since mine is in the closet, I can't have it be loud.

What causes fixed-cam to go out of focus 2-year later?

Yes, both the cameras affected are east and west facing and could be under direct hot afternoon sun. The rest of the cameras are at different offsets, more SW and NE.

What causes fixed-cam to go out of focus 2-year later?

I have 5 fixed Dahua (Amcrest) 3MP bullet cams. They are the IP3M-943 which is a 3MP fixed cam. They are Dahua based and are about 2 years 6 months old. Anyhow, 2 of them out of the 5 started to develop blurriness in the background. Anything beyond 20ft+ it gets blurry. License plates begin to...

[Pictures] SD59225 struck by lightning... Warranty? DIY fix?

I fried one of my cameras when rain got into the RJ45 connector and the pins shorted. It was my fault. I cannot imagine any electronic device to survive a surge of a bolt of lightning downstream. Even then, I think one would need fuses on each individual wire within the 8-wire CAT cable to...

Ceiling access panel for mounting ceiling camera

Has anyone used a ceiling access panel to mount a ceiling camera? I need to cut the drywall in the ceiling... but since I'm cutting a whole anyway to be able to fetch the rj45 cable through the wall, I might as well not patch it but install a door access panel. Then mount the camera on the door...

    Review-OEM 4mp AI Cam IPC-T5442TM-AS Starlight+

The extra megapixels are worth it to me. I had 3MP 3.6mm amcrest bullets that struggled to capture license plates of cars parked on street and coming into our shared motor driveway. Upgrading to 4MP Amcrest fixes and 8MP Dahua 1831 subsequently fixed the problem. I don’t have to sacrifice wide...

Can I use 12TB in Dahua 5216 NVR?

I know the spec sheet says up to 10TB capacity. What happens if I stuck a 12TB capacity hard drive? Would it work? Would the NVR only write up to 10TB LBA range and not use the remaining 2TB ?

    iDMSS 4.50,000

I'm glad Dahua is starting to invest a bit more in their apps. I used to have a lot of problems with push. The way the push notification works now is that the NVR or camera will send a tcp packet to apple's APN push server. You can run a packet tracer by setting the gateway of the NVR to your...
