Most PTZ are on the higher side due to everything they offer. I know almost every customer I do a consult for asks for the PTZ camera until they see the price. Most of them dont know why they even want one, pros and cons, and end up going with stationary cameras that end up serving them way...
2 types of people in my experience.
1> Hide the cams so they are not obtrusive to the eye. Catch the crook.
2> (me) Let everyone see that you have cams. Prevent the crook.
Hey guys, I was wanted to pop in here and share my experience with some new led lights I just picked up off Amzn. I recently installed 2x 2mp Dahua Starlight cameras over my driveway to watch my cars. In the pitch black they didnt show a ton of detail even with the IR lights provided in the IP...
First, your response was complete uncalled for to begin with. It was plainly rude. This post has never asked for your level of detail. You are not the OP. I have said what needed to be said and that is all. Hope you get help with your anger issues.
Steve
What a stupid comment.
You can tear down specs of each wire brand, type, size, color... but in the end.... What works and what doesn't work? ALL of them work! ALL OF THEM! So you can take the stick out your butt and stop throwing BS at the new guy who just wanted some basic info on the correct...
I figured it out. On each camera there is an option on the camera settings in BI, under the Video tab, that is checked "Limit decoding unless required" . I unchecked this on all my cameras and no more choppy video playback. My CPU is up from 18% to 41% now tho.
Okay, I woke up this morning and I ran my cat5e from the POE switch to my gigabit switch.
~ SAME ISSUE CONTINUES ~
CAM > POE Switch > Power Line network adapter > GB Switch > Then one cable to the router and one to the BI computer.
CAM - IPC-HDW5231R-ZE
POE Switch - iCreatin 5-port Active...

When I get home I’ll run a wire with the door open and see if it improves. If it does then we will know 100%. If it doesn’t, is there perhaps a setting I messed up with or something I can turn on or off? I’m at 18% with this cpu.
If this was an option I would. Home owner said no drilling his brand new stucco. The recording is flawless, the preview is not. I’ll try and live with it.
All of the cams connect to the poe switch in my garage. The BI is in my house connected to the garage via a “power line networking adapter” I will check the model when I get back home. Perhaps the 1200mbps isn’t enough?
No WiFi! WiFi bad!
The cameras themselves have no lag. When I am logged into it making adjustments it’s 9seconds till I see a change on the BI screen. My BI is running at 12% and 1gb of ram usage.
Hmm, well the recording is smooth. Its the live preview on the monitor thats seems to be lagging. Live preview isn't recorded. Ill have to snap it with my phone or something, i know no other way to show you.
The video is choppy? Stutters? The car jumps with missing frames? like my preview was...
I just finished installing all 4 of my Dahua 2MP Starlights. Everything went amazing.
After setting up BI I notice people and cars going by are chunky on the live preview.
The settings are set to 25fps.
1st thing you do before an install is mock up the setup on your bench/garage/dinner table. Connect it all up and test everything including cables. plug in the cat5 and see how it looks. If it works it works. Chances are you will be fine. The OCD of the more experienced guys who have spent hours...
Well, it was an interesting idea. I have a cam near some trash cans and it would be kinda cool to be able to hook up a loud speaker and yell at them. I had an analog DVR that did it. Speco Tech.
I would take these Speco DVR's take the guts out and install them into a faux power panel I...
