    Driveway alarm? 1,200 feet.

I have installed some Dakota alert sensors further than that with good luck, as long as the obstructions aren't to bad. They are the only one I know of rated out to a mile free air, if they don't work I doubt anything will.

    Looking for USA made cameras

The advantage of vlans being that you can reuse hardware. So the same infrastructure of switches, cabling, bridges, etc can be used for your cameras and general network connectivity.

    SMD 3.0 dahua

You can request it from Andy if you want it. The only advantage of this firmware over the last release version is letting you use a backlight program and smart ir at the same time in your situation. I just think it will be a mistake to post it as a release firmware as some unsuspecting person...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

There are still smd/IVs issues with this firmware, I don't think it should be considered ready for release yet. I have it on a tester but haven't deployed it to any cameras in the field.

    Looking for USA made cameras

You have to trust something at some point that someone else made. Whose to say whatever you're using to create that vpn can't be compromised? You just have to decide for yourself who you can trust. If we could only trust and use things we made ourself, we'd all have to be software and hardware...

    Looking for USA made cameras

Basically any device that you can remotely access these days will "phone home". It is so customers don't have to deal with configuring firewalls, port forwarding and public ip addresses just to communicate with their device. Whether it's a camera, thermostat, or door lock, they all phone home...

2021 April Dahua Full Color Camera

Yes, I did see that comparison, but I would rather have the two cams with the same FOV. It is immediately apples/oranges when you have one fixed lens, one varifocal, and then both of them at different FOV's. I do have an IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED mounted right beside my IPC-T5442TM-AS, and I agree...

2021 April Dahua Full Color Camera

Ya, I really want to see a 4MP 1/1.8" Sensor cam and a 8MP 1/1.2" sensor cam, go head to head in the same spot. From those videos above it looks like there is lots of ambient lighting available which will help. I messaged Andy to see if there is any chance to get my hands on one. I have a...

2021 April Dahua Full Color Camera

Ya I know it's not a direct comparison, but alot of my cameras go in rural areas with very little ambient lighting, so I'm always looking to get the best image with as little light as possible. My concern isn't how well dahua or hikvision can implement the same sensor in low light conditions. I...

2021 April Dahua Full Color Camera

I haven't kept up on the hikvision 1/1.2" colourvu cameras. What is the consensus on their night time performance vs a 5442? With that size of sensor it must be pretty close? In my quick search it looked like the hikvision version is about $200-$250?

    Dahua T5442T-ZE in-depth review

I've often wondered about the lens ratings. I always felt the varifocal didn't give much as much of an increase over the 6mm version as I thought. Really if you're wanting more zoom than the 6mm offers might as well just jump up to the z4e. I wonder how accurate it's ratings are.

    SMD 3.0 dahua

Sorry I should have been more clear in my initial post on when I took the screen grabs. But yes, all screen grabs are from the first time the camera picked me up when walking into the scene. It should be essentially what you asked for, just without showing the IVS rule as I used "Visitor...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

Yes, I do have SD Cards in both cameras. Those screen grabs are from the exact time the box turned red on me when replaying the recording. I couldn't do show them in an exact side by side comparison, due to the time being an hour out on one (I had just set the time, but it must have jumped on...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

I should add, I have yet to see one of my dogs trigger it. I only setup the IVS rules right before the test above, but I did call my dogs through the scene a couple of times to see if they could trigger any motion. I have had dogs in the past trigger IVS rules. I didn't get a single trigger...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

So I have two cameras setup side by side right now. They are: IPC-T5442TM-AS running 21-05-06 FIrmware IPC-T5442TM-AS-LED running 20-12-03 Firmware Both are setup the exact same. IVS Rule using an Intrusion, Enter/Exit & Appear. Human/Vehicle detection is on both, the rule takes up almost...

OH ya, dogs occasionally gave smd 2.0 issues. I have two dogs in the yard I'll get IVs setup tonight and test that out.

    SMD 3.0 dahua

I haven't had a chance to test out IVS yet, I'll get that setup and check it out. Are you just noticing it on humans or on vehicles as well?

    SMD 3.0 dahua

Yes I agree with that. All I stated is it seemed improved over older versions and cameras. I apologize for stating an opinion. I never advocated or even said I was going to leave it on auto. Just observing in this instance it seemed they have auto performing closer to something useable than in...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

Here is a video using the 21-05-06, with exposure set to 0-10ms, gain at 0-50, smartIR on, everything else left to default settings: Whiteout doesn't seem to bad in this video. And as far as auto is concerned, I know, I realize you can get better results from tuning, all I was saying is it...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

Hey, yes I know I was in auto, I just flashed the firmware and I like to look initially with the settings on auto just to see what the camera thinks it should do. I was honestly surprised how decent the auto settings looked out of the box with this firmware. It was 1 in the morning though so I...

    SMD 3.0 dahua

I'm playing around with the 21-05-06 firmware right now, and I'm not seeing an issue to the same degree as Wildcat and Looney. Settings are complete auto. When I switch Smart IR off, I notice the IR light intensity actually increases during a static scene. I can walk right up to the...

    5442 picture quality issue

Are you using ssa for your backlight setting? I've seen this sometimes using ssa before as well. I think it can sometimes choose an overly aggressive wdr setting.

Setup a IPC-T5442T-ZE and have a couple of Questions

Ya I use the 52 series nvrs often, and don't experience any of the issues listed previously in this thread. Capable of high bit rates, high resolution, and really fairly easy to review cameras on.

    SD49225T-HN Rebooting

Ya I saw you mention that in the other thread. I tried it, it unpacked the install file but it was still blank. I don't think it's important though, I think it's just used when doing a normal firmware update.

    SD49225T-HN Rebooting

Hey, no SD Card was installed in it. So, after reading the other thread some more, I saw that some people had luck changing the hex address, and manually specifying which files to load from the tftp server. So I changed my command.txt file to look like: tftp 0x02000000 kernel.img; flwrite...
