Any pics of disguised / hidden cams mounted on walls near fascia/eve area???

I actually just mounted an ACTi D82 underneath my soffit (ACTi Flush Mount Kit for Outdoor Camera - PMAX-1003) this past weekend. It's not disguised though and looks better than mounting the entire camera over top of the soffit. I also use the 4-inch smoke dome (ACTi PDCX-1101) to try and hide...

    Garbage - Part 2

I have a neighbour and his friends (while not destructive) have made stupid gestures at my cams over the years; His GF as of today too. While this homeowner has asked me twice in 2 years to help him out (vehicle vandalising/residential break-in..plus the police too asking for same footage), my...

Looking for weatherproof (-40F) POE dome camera recommendation

Yes it is; The E82 is still pretty new. http://www.acti.com/product/detail/Dome_Camera/E82 I use Blue Iris, so I can't comment on Zoneminder. I purchase my ACTi products through Cendirect.com (located in Quebec). They normally don't stock products on hand, and will order directly from ACTi...

Looking for weatherproof (-40F) POE dome camera recommendation

Try looking at the ACTi line of domes; I have the E82 and E72 for the exact same reason (need to survive a brutally cold Canadian winter -40C/-40F). And they don't require a built in heater so their size isn't larger than it needs to be (for my residence). They're around the price point or...

    Active Microphone (12v) Recommendation

Can anybody recommend a decent outdoor-rated active microphone (12v) that would be rated for winter (-40C/-40F)? I want to incorporate this into a pure PoE based camera solution by using the power supply of ACTi's DI/DO system (of the camera I have) to feed the active microphone.

    ACTi comparable to Hikvision DS-2CD7254FWD-EIZHS

I'm using an E72a and E82a (will expand to multiple cams of the same overtime). These models don't need a heater so their overall footprint size is smaller than the Hiks. And since this is for residential use, the smaller the better. I'm using Blue Iris.

    ACTi comparable to Hikvision DS-2CD7254FWD-EIZHS

I have a few ACTi 3-MP exterior domes; They are great. The reason I went this route is that they are rated down to -40 Celsius, where the Hiks are not. My cameras need to run perfectly in a cold Canadian winter. Check out the http://www.networkcameracritic.com/ for his many reviews on ACTi...

Blue Iris Vera Plugin - Trigger z-wave devices & more

Thanks for posting. I haven't ventured into the home automation yet (with exception of using B.I. for property surveillance), but this Vera product looks cool (after looking into it following your post).

    Me getting my bike stolen

I'm simply using the "alarm.wav" file located within the \Sounds directory of the BI install. I've modified this to loop over and over (for about 2 minutes) with a simple wav editor. The original sound clip is only about 4 seconds long. This sound file is identical to my wired house alarm when...

    Me getting my bike stolen

I have a few speakers mounted within my soffits. When I'm away and warned via Alerts on my iOS devices (Blue Iris (BI)), I can remotely trigger BI's server sound file (I have my house alarm looped as a WAV file for 3 minutes). In this case I would have alerted the intruder and hopefully he would...

    ACTi

I'm using ToughCable from Ubiquiti which has a drain wire to deal with ESD and is shielded for extra protection. And my pc/PoE switch is also on an APC. I researched this model quite a bit before purchasing and never heard of power failures like you reported (albeit not the same model). Time...

    5MP Outdoor Camera Advice

Thanks to the Networkcameracritic for his online reviews and feedback to me, I'm going with 3MP ACTi exterior domes. So far I've been happy with my E72. I have a varifocal (E82) coming in the next week or two. I'm going with all 3MP exterior domes. As an added extra, I reside in Canada and...
