    QNAP NAS and QVR Pro

An outcome of a support call to QNAP that may be relevant as like you I wanted to clarify why QVRPro was overwriting changes I was making to my camera settings. I had noticed that after setting it VBR (to reduce disk space), it has changed back to CBR. However I have noticed that after setting...

    QNAP NAS and QVR Pro

Thank you for updating my lack of knowledge. I’ve not come across QVRPro changing settings on my Amcrest cameras. Have you raised a call with Qnap?

    Backup to the Cloud?

I have been considering this but it does not seem a popular option for reasons of storage cost and data transfer rates. I think fast fibre upload and unlimited cloud space are vital both of which I have but if I go down that route it will probably only be for events rather than 24/7 recording.

    QNAP NAS and QVR Pro

I think I may have misunderstood your post. I thought you were suggesting that QVR Pro was changing the camera settings which is not possible of course. I believe you are saying that QVR Pro is using the second lower resolution stream for recordings. I believe it does this and then switches to...

    Amcrest IP4M-1026EW

Thank you for confirming the firmware issue and product status. The camera functions well with my NVR QVR Pro so I am happy to keep it. I’ve also added a review on Amazon.

    QNAP NAS and QVR Pro

I am trying to understand how what appears to be a camera reset issue could be the result of something that QVR Pro has done. What leads you to think that the issue is not down to the camera?

    QNAP NAS and QVR Pro

It is interesting to read this thread one year on. There are a number of QVR Pro users on the Surveillance sub forum on the Qnap forums. I have installed a new twin (Amcrest) camera system that uses QVR Pro on my Qnap NAS. I have been taking things one step at a time since I started the project...

Am I on the right track?

Have you considered running a NAS or dedicated NVR which I think is more suited to running a 24/7 service ?

    Amcrest IP4M-1026EW

I decided to keep the IP4M-1026EW. It works well and the Chrome issue is not a problem as I use QVR Pro Client to view my cameras. The wider angle lens swung it for me.

    Powerline adapter with POE?

Powerline adapters were ideal for me when setting up the system so that I could try different camera locations before I purchased and ran out a long Ethernet cable run.

New Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW-36MM graphical glitches and freezing runs hot?

I’ve been running this camera for a week on my QVR Pro system for a week with good results and no errors running 24/7. Qnap have a cam pack update that has this model listed. It is positioned under a soffit to the right of our front door about 8 foot off the ground.

    Powerline adapter with POE?

I used this pass through adapter with a separate power adapter when setting up my cameras. It worked very well without any dropouts. https://www.scan.co.uk/products/newlink-nl-hp555ptdl-1gbps-powerline-pass-through-homeplug-dual-pack

New Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW-36MM graphical glitches and freezing runs hot?

A question - Does the over-heating issue happen when using the original firmware that was designed for this model? This thread interests me as I have just bought a IP5M-T1179EW for the front of the house and a IP4M-1026EW for the rear. I have been considering exchanging the IP4M-1026EW for...

    Amcrest IP4M-1026EW

I cannot make my mind up about this as there are +ve and -ve for both! IP5M-T1179EW Turret - Plastic case, overheating issues? smaller/less obtrusive but with larger footprint, 5Mp, 84 degree IP4M-1026EW Bullet - Solid metal (good heat dissipation) case with sun shield, more obtrusive but...

Qnap QVR Pro with Amcrest user from UK

Progress on the QVRPRo client issue above... The onboard graphics (Intel 3000) on my PC will not run the QVR Pro Client. The suggestion from QNAP is to try a software render on the PC: - Find out the QVR Pro Client shortcut on the desktop and this PC and right click on it. - Switch to tab...

    Amcrest IP4M-1026EW

I have chatted with Amcrest on their website. Their rep did not explain the anomaly of discontinued products but confirmed that both of cameras had old firmware that had not been updated! However he did say "Our team is working on the new firmware for this camera and many other so that it can...

Green hat looking for some recommendations.

My setting is very similar to yours. Mounting a turret onto a upvc soffit pointing diagonally across a front door but not as high as yours. I went for an Amcrest IP5M-T1179EW-36MM for front.

    Amcrest IP4M-1026EW

I have just purchased a new Amcrest IP4M-1026EW from Amazon but on checking the firmware update I was not impressed to see it was discontinued. No mention of this on Amazon :-( I wanted to see if there was an update that solved the plugin display issue. I also purchased a IP5M-T1179EW-36M is...
