Dahua New 5MP Starlight line up?

Quite interesting. On international Dahua page, there is no mention about these models. They seem to have very good sensitivity. 009/09LUX is like my 2MP Starlight 4231EM-AS. The sensor is most likely Omnivision's newly developed OS05A20 with Nyxel technology. I would love to see some image...

    Sensors used in Dahua cams

@Roman G That would be graet. From what I know, most of Dahua cameras use Ambarella S3L/S3Lm SOCs, but I have no exact info. Until recently Hikvision also used Ambarellas, but they switched to some other manufacturer.

Dahua vs Lorex system (IPC-HFW5830E-Z LNB8973BW)

1/2.9" is smaller than 1/2.8". And so, there are more pixels on a smaller sensor :)

    Sensors used in Dahua cams

@bug99 Yes, larger pixel is better as it gathers more light. IMX294 is a monster :) How do I add an image as an attachment? I can't see such option. Can't you just save the image with "save as" option?

    Sensors used in Dahua cams

Hello everyone, I did a diagram showing all the sensors used in Eco Savvy 3.0 and Ultra series from Dahua. The diagram shows sensor size in relation to other sensors as well as camera models, using certain sensor. No PTZ models included and no box cameras – apart from IPC-HF8835F, which is the...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

I thought it would be interesting to see a direct comparison of an object illuminated by IR light and visible light. I took my Xblitz Night dashcam with IR LEDs and a torch to see the difference. I wanted to use some well defined object so that the difference would be well seen. This is me...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

True, but it is available mostly in box cameras, with interchangeable lenses.

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

A ladder :) In fact, there is no way to fix that in fixed-lens version. I have to live with that and get used to it. I was thinking about buying fixed lens IPC-HDW4631EM-ASE. Right now I have a dilemma between this one and varifocal IPC-HDW5631R-ZE. IPC-HDW4631EM-ASE is cheaper (I will not use...

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

Thank you Jeroen1000 for the info. I did't know there is such an option. My camera is only fixed lens. What do you mean by programming? Is it some kind of script? Can it be done by Dahua's own software? If not, than what software you use?

    Infrared focus shift - explanation

While reading the forum's threads, I found some posts with complains about soft image while the camera is going from color to IR or the opposite. In this Testing roundup IPC-HDBW4431EP-AS versus IPC-HDBW5431E-Z thread, TVT73 is complaining about soft focus in IPC-HDBW4431EP-AS camera. Here Any...

    IPC-HFW8232E-Z and the moon HELP!!!!!

Thank you for the info. You can also accomplish timelapse through Dahua’s own software. I’m creating a whole year timelapse from my camera. It started over one month ago with a picture every 5 minutes. The changes in vegetation are already visible :) I download pictures with SmartPSS and combine...

    IPC-HFW8232E-Z and the moon HELP!!!!!

Hi BobW55, What seems to be the problem? You didn’t write, what you are willing to achieve. It is obvious, that the moon will dazzle the camera, and thus darken the overall exposure. If you want the exposure to go up, you need to use BLC and set the reference area to some dark part of the...

What does make so expensive to IPC-HDBW8232E-Z 2mp camera?

Progresive scan means that the image is scanned line by line from top to bottom. It's the opposite to interlaced, where the image consist of two fields - odd one and even one. In case of interalced, you get a comb effect. Anyway.. nothing to worry about ;)

What softwares I need to setup Dahua ip cameras fow Windows PC

The web interface will work in IE and Chrome on Windows 7,8 and 10. I use it everyday on every mentioned system, and it works fine.

Two cams with 12mm lens, but VERY different FOV. Why?

It's all about sensor size and so called focal length multiplier or crop factor. What Philip Gonzales is referring to, is a APSC sensor format, which has a crop factor of 1.5 and 1.6 depending on camera brand. Focal length of a lens is given in a full frame format. So if you mount a 20mm lens on...

Dahua ePoE 6MP Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5631R-ZE)

Thank you very much aristobrat. It is quite interesting to see, that HDW5631 reaches the same brightness at GAIN 100 as 5231. I was expecting something else. Interestingly, when I brighten (with Photoshop levels tool) the image of GAIN 50, I get much sharper result than oryginal image at GAIN...

Dahua ePoE 6MP Varifocal Turret (IPC-HDW5631R-ZE)

Hi aristobrat, I’m glad you will test 6MP model, as I’m thinking about buying exactly this one as my second camera. As you have both cameras (6MP and 2MP) prepared for testing, would it be possibile for you to do some test with very fixed parameters at night? I would be really thankfull if you...

    Dahua IPC-HDW4231EM-AS review

Hi ipeecam, I must say, I had to ask Google what is LPR, before answering your question :) For LPR there are dedicated cameras. These however – in my opinion –are not much different from standard cctv cams. The difference is in software, which is responsible for plates recognition. These cameras...

    Dahua IPC-HDW4231EM-AS review

Hi TVT73, I’m glad you like my review and you’ve responded to it.I’ll try to address all your concerns and explain why I did things, the way I did. I’ve compared this security cam to devices such as GoPro or Mobius, simply because I have no other security camera to deal with. This comparison...

    Dahua IPC-HDW4231EM-AS review

I've been playing with Dahua IPC-HDW4231EM-AS for a few months, so I've decided to share with you some thoughts about it. Maybe it will be helpful for somebody willing to buy a CCTV camera. First, some background. As a total beginner in the topic of security cams, before deciding on the camera...

    Testing roundup IPC-HDBW4431EP-AS versus IPC-HDBW5431E-Z

I'm new to the forum, and not sure if I click it correctly, but the frames, you've posted from both cameras are only fullHD format. Is it possible for You, to post these in full resolution? I was planning to buy HDBW4431 with exactly same 2.8mm lens. Luckly (or not) I went through Nayr's thread...

    Testing roundup IPC-HDBW4431EP-AS versus IPC-HDBW5431E-Z

How did you calculate, the amount of light reaching the sensor? Comparing the lenses on both cameras, the difference between f1.4 and f2.0 is exactly 1EV which means in case of HBDW5431 there is twice the amount of light entering the camera.
