My suggestion with regards to the router would be to check whether DD-WRT or TomatoUSB supports it and load that instead.
Agree with the above suggestion to use turrets over bullets.
Can't beat the Cyberpower for bang for your buck. I've got 2 separate 1000VAs, one for the POE switch and the other for the Synology NAS. I've not had to see how much runtime I can get out of each but they were ok for a 10 minute outage while I isolated the supply to hook up a couple of new...
I tend to use these over the wallmate pictured above

It involves making a pilot hole but can then be set by screwing down completely with a screwdriver or driver bit in a drill or you can set them with the anchor gun. What I like...
+1 to the Brady Labeller. I have the Dymo Rhino Pro 5000 which is the equivalent of the Bradys and is able to print on to special heatshrink that you're able to slip over the sheath.
I've also used numbers and letters on a plastic ring that you've able to slide over cables to make up words...
Hi Flightrider
I've recently been using the Platinum EZ-RJ45 connectors for CAT6 without any issues. A point no one has mentioned is possibly the potential of crosstalk being the cause of the issue. How much cable are you leaving untwisted in the RJ45 connector? Don't quote me on it as I'll...
Hey lingnau
Nice install there. As another Surveillance Station user I'm keen on your thoughts of it. Are you utilising the motion detection in the cams or you letting SSS do the motion detection?
Thanks BP2008,
I was only just thinking that I might need something of the sort but had yet to hunt around to see what was out there and you post up your findings and experiences. I appreciate that you've taken most of the work out of it for me.
Cheers
I'm unsure about where you are but in Australia, we aren't even allowed to secure to the ceiling hangers due to someone previously bringing down the entire ceiling.
I've used these in the past which allow it to be secured to timber or masonry and a strip of velcro to secure the cables to it...
Damn I think it's going to be worth the punt to save almost half of getting a bunch of 2732s. I'll put in an order in the morning and will report back to this thread when they arrive.
Great ideas all, I'm currently considering installing a 12U cabinet under the staircase to house a couple of ethernet switches, patch panel, UPS, any power supplies and alarm panel rather than having it sitting up on top of one corner of the walk in robe in the master bedroom. The idea of...
I had 3 cams up but took them down over the weekend in preparation for demolition starting at my house for the renovations. I'm just waiting for some funds to clear and will put in an order on AE of 5 varifocal domes, another turret, a mini dome to replace the turret I had at the front door and...
Hi All
Thanks for the replies. As cable is a cheap commodity in the overall scheme of things, I may as well run the extra cables as suggested just in case.
To Paarlberg, what's the logic behind all the conduit if you've got cavity walls?
Hi
This post is directed to anyone who might have one of the Dahua eco savvy PTZ cams with the following model # SD59212S/220S/230S-HN. I think Nayr may have one???
How are you powering yours? Looking at the specs it says 24v AC / 12v DC+POE plus. Can you confirm if it'll run off POE+ as...
This is easily achievable with a couple of control relays and a time delay relay. You might need to advise how you want to start the control circuit.
With regards to what Nayr has said, if the winch motor was of a decent size, chances it would be fired with a contactor for forward and reverse...
I personally don't see anything wrong with that Vector, I've made up similar things previously to mount floodlights to. All I would suggest is to fix a full saddle over the conduit on the vertical above the box to give it extra support. You might need to stand it off with something if the...
Thanks for that, I'm still debating if I actually need 30x zoom on a PTZ or if I could get away with 10x or 20x.
I'll have a hunt and see what's for sale on aliexpress.
IP cameras utilise 48v when powered over ethernet. I can't really comment on the operating temperatures of the camera although I don't recall mine being that hot to touch. I will check tomorrow and advise.
