    Shadow attack cat

She's 17. The next shot she gets is the fatal kind. My wife keeps telling me to call the vet and get it taken care of, but other than her total disinterest in the litter box she's still fine :( But then we have another ancient cat puking everywhere, too. Wish it would just die in its sleep one...

    Mini movie. Get your popcorn!

Here is my guess: "Wtf are you doing?" "Hey, bro, it's okay, bro, sorry man, I'll be on my way, sorry bro." "@*#( that, I just called the cops!" "Bro, dude, no big deal, on my way..." Just a guess :) I assume it's extremely scary to be breaking into somebody's car and have them surprise you...

    Mini movie. Get your popcorn!

He should post a sign on his driveway saying "In the past 12 months police have arrested two people burglarizing my property."

    Mini movie. Get your popcorn!

Title of thread did not disappoint. Superb, this is the best video I've seen on the forum, I think. THREE cameras on your driveway. Nice. So much evidence it's sick, what a slam dunk for prosecution on this one. How did you know someone was in your driveway? I've thought about this scenario...

    No support from HIKVISION

I am seriously dying to know this: I understand all the "unauthorized" vendors, but how are these people getting genuine Hikvision product if they are not an authorized vendor? I know they aren't heisting shipments from hikvision warehouses, so how is this even possible? I'm struggling to think...

Opinions for Hikvision/Dahua on front porch

    Just the single ethernet cable.

    DroneHunter!

Yeah it's all profoundly illegal to shoot these things, and telemetry data from the Kentucky shooting indicates the shooter lied by a huge degree about location of the drone (not that it is legal to shoot it in any case, irrespective of where it is). He then threatened to shoot the drone pilot...

Opinions for Hikvision/Dahua on front porch

Do you really think you'll use it, though? Nobody really will talk to other people through the camera's speaker on a typical front door. You can use it to hear what your kids were fighting about off frame I guess :)

HTTP port on SADP grayed out!

I could never get SADP to work. Per some notes I wrote myself: IP to 192.0.0.101 with subnet mask 255.255.0.0 on a PC on the same network (no need to change the rest of the network--just the PC would do it), then login to default 192.0.0.64 with a browser and it should bring up the camera login...

Opinions for Hikvision/Dahua on front porch

If night vision is so important you're considering 1.3, why not put a really low watt LED bulb on the porch and leave that running :) I'd go with the 3mp

    New firmware 5.3.3

On Chrome is Chrome still complaining about this using an out of date plugin?

    Wolf or Dog?

I'm not really a dog person, but it looks pretty wolfy to me. Colors match up as does the head shape I think, though your animal's tail seems to be white--not sure if that's relevant.

Opinions - want to replace Foscams with Hikvision

If you like that FOV the 4mm hikvision should be pretty similar. It would give you a lot of pixels for cars compared to what you're seeing there now.

Opinions - want to replace Foscams with Hikvision

I vote on US based hikvision just so you don't need to worry about FW updates. It's not just vulnerabilities they fix with new FW but sometimes fairly essential functions on the cam. Hikvisions will fit your need well. I'd go with the 3 MP, personally. Now, I see from your truck that despite...

Mounting Cameras on street light in front of House

Wow you weren't kidding. That setup looks really bad ass. To get people so quickly is amazing and also amazing how stupid they are as those cameras are seriously visible.

    Big camera dilemma. Opinion needed

Please for the love of us all listen to all the posts above. Lots of good ideas. I know you want to do wifi and despite some posts above saying not to you may be thinking you can anyway. But if you do you probably won't be happy, and if you are happy it's probably because you won't know any...

Failed Motion Detection - Car broken into...

The thing about glitch free software though is like proving a negative. The best you can do is test for all scenarios you're able to think of, but until all permutations possible have been tested you will never be able to bet everything on it. I wouldn't bet $10 vs the end of the known universe...

    Wifi IP Cameras: router strategy

Yes they are mainly 2.4 ghz. 5 ghz suffers abominable range, even though it's much better at very, very close range. 801.11ac is crap for cameras (no range)--heck, it's crap for a lot of stuff. It also runs on the 5 ghz wavelength, and the transmission power in home routers at 5 ghz is just so...

EZVIZ Does it not work ?

Very little online documentation about ezviz. I couldn't get it to work with a english or china region cam--however, then I read that it only works with their internal cube camera (or similar). The ones I tried were firmware 5.2.0 turrets. I went into the menu on each and did the ezviz stuff but...

    New firmware 5.3.3

I've not kept up on the firmware since 5.2.0--are they still using the old NPAPI stuff that Chrome is about to forcibly expire in two months, thus making these cameras' video completely inaccessible to Chrome users?

Forgot to put it in "Park"

I have a relevant story, and I assure you every word of it is true. When I was a teenager a friend of mine's father bought a lightly used 3-series manual-transmission BMW as a third vehicle for the family, though mainly to be used by my friend and his younger brother when the latter would get...

Good source to buy IP items at

Agree. I have one chinese cam because it was stupid cheap on Ebay at the time, from a US vendor who had been given the wrong stock and wanted to offload it. Otherwise, I'm happy to know my two US cams can take US firmware and not have to worry about it. Sometimes time is money. It was months...

Windows 10 - Words of wisdom with BI

I haven't looked into it much but I think its freeness is being tied in some way to forced updates, but again I've not checked. I kind of hate forced updates on cloud-based software (I know Win 10 is not cloud-based, since it is running locally). They've burned me on Chrome and also on my...

    Hikvision's new 4MP 2-series

Very high, but let's be clear it is unlikely to be "sold by" amazon, but rather a third party, which means either it's US based and they charge a huge premium for that, or it's Chinese based in which case really what's the point (although Amazon will brow beat a seller if they don't respond to...

Blue Iris kills my i7 pc

Probably already mentioned, heck even by me, but no need to record video at 30 fps. 10-15 is fine. You're not filming a movie and you won't lose anything meaningful at that frame rate.

    Amazon/hikvision

You can check vendor ratings on amazon. The problem is if you find a listing and it's not sold by amazon, it can be sold by vendor A today and vendor B tomorrow, because you typically see the lowest price at the top, and some of the reviews will say "This item is fake!" and their's may have...

How anyone can get your WiFi password

I used to turn off SSID broadcast until I downloaded a very popular and free app that is regularly used by people to diagnose network issues (nothing at all secretive or naughty about it) and it shows them all, irrespective of whether they are hidden. So, complete waste of time. IMO hiding the...

Windows 10 - Words of wisdom with BI

The nice thing about it though is that it doesn't auto update like Chrome does. Case in point our Hikvisions, which are about two months away from being completely inaccessible in Chrome :(

Windows 10 - Words of wisdom with BI

IE5 is sure old but I know we still have people using IE 8. Truth is I support an app that only runs natively on IE 8 but runs fine on at least IE 11 as long as it's in compatibility view. I really have no motivation to update that app until I get wind that we're moving to a new standard and I...
