Yep. This is exactly when it happened. I was perfectly happy to see Obama win. I thought Bush's presidency was pretty terrible. I also agree with certain planks of the democratic party. But the party in its current form is nothing like the party of even a decade ago. I believe--hope--that the...
Debate was an embarrassment for all parties involved. I think the next moderator needs a button to shut people up--he'd have had to use it with trump who keeps interrupting.
I'm hoping trump wins the election, not because I particularly like him (he is actually a clown as biden kept saying)...
It's finally time. I am updating my install of 6 (?) year old 3 MP HikVisions.
Seems like $400-600 now buys a nice PTZ. I like the DS-2DE4A425IW-DE because it's discreet, and also a hikvision, so I assume learning curve a touch easier than the dahua's I'm not used to. I want one for garage to...
Not Dahua, but I've had a few hikvisions running for years without one. They just need somewhere to store the data--could be a microsd on the camera or some network storage (the latter being what I use for the most part). I manage the cameras entirely within their embedded web site.
Dumb question: what is the use case for a camera that zooms and does not pan/tilt? It's simply to assist in initial setup and get things exactly right with focal length, right? I can't imagine you'd ever be zooming in and out when it's actually deployed?
Here's that dahua, it does look pretty...
I've not been around here much last couple years because my 3MP Hikvisions are still killing it. Super happy with them.
Yesterday a car not from the neighborhood passed a school bus while it was getting kids on it, and that does not fly in front of my house. Unfortunately without a plate I...
HAHAHA
Too bad for them his camera picked up that company logo like a boss.
I do feel bad for the company and I don't believe this reflects on them at all. They fired him immediately, no harm no foul. He won't steal another sign any time soon.
Good to see that two years after I got my first hikvision camera their developers still have no idea what they are doing. I'm absolutely terrified about upgrading the firmware on mine because so much of what hikvisino releases is garbage code. Your QA department should never be the public.
Get the turret, it looks boss as well. Word of caution many have missed events that happened in front of their cams because they relied too much on motion that failed to fire. To reliably catch events odds are you'll have its sensitivity so high you'll get a ton of false positives anyway.
Pretty wild. Bad luck on missing it on the vid. I expect eventually you will have to have software that is using OCR to read plates and insert into a simple database (rather like cops do) instead of just holding images as I presume you do now.
If you didn't find the bullets in your house they...
instant karma, too funny. Fools caught on great video in broad daylight. If homeowner kept the glass they could even DNA match off it once they find the guy.
This sort of behavior from police infuriates me so much I can't even post more about it. These pigs--cop is not fair for them--should be in FPMITA prison.
You sure it was a gun? I thought so too but at 2:35 looks like a cell phone (?).
Best idea when you see this is call the cops immediately, then if you have a camera get by the window and try and get some better images. If they sneak off you could discreetly follow with your phone. Going...
It will, particularly cars coming at you, but it is extremely nice video. What's the price on that, it seems new...
My dash cam situation is acceptable but I cannot grab plates of oncoming cars during the day unless I'm very lucky--and that's too bad because I almost got hit head on by a...
Yep agree on 2.8, it will give about 90 degree angle (irrespective of whether you go with bullet, turret, dome), which is substantially more than the iphone 6 field of view, and perfect for such close distances like a garage.
Could be, but sometimes it goes into the several FPS range. I haven't spend long tracking it down really. Once I get around to it I'll get my ipad, my phone, a laptop, my PC all jamming up on the camera and see what's happening.
I was going to say the same thing. Considering you can buy a multi-megapixel IP camera now for $100, there's just no reason to fiddle around on some 5 year old hardware. Just not worth the time at all. I would dump those and buy some new cams.
Got the Kindle Fire with tinycam. The free version is working fine--I had it overnight running two cameras with the tablet vertical. Frame rate is about 1 FPS for some reason (could be tablet processing power, though I get frame cuts on my iphone 5S also, and even on my ipad air 2, but not as...
That really is too much. I don't really hold these guys accountable for the occasional frisbee or package throw a few feet of something light, but a box of ammo isn't light and he just leaves the whole thing to bust up on the ground. I would also report that.
In general, no, you cannot leave your house and shoot somebody for vandalizing your property. Only use a gun to defend a person's life, not a person's property.
Looks drunk. Funny thing is I thought the guy was english the second I saw him and I think he was.
Thanks for responses.
Although the screen on these things is only 7", they are currently $39. That's basically throw-away. iVMS-4500 which I like isn't on the amazon store (seems a knock off is), but is on google and apparently a trick can be used to load those onto Amazon tablets without...
This sort of thing virtually never happens in my area. If it happened with any regularity I would get something like this. Doing this from cars is quite stupid on these kids' part; if you saw them you could run out and read their plate as they sped off.
I think I mentioned it in another thread...
