    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

I do not have this model but I have a much lower spec Annke one. So no where near as good as this, but while I thought I would hate the concept of the always on LED, it doesn't have to be bright and out the back it's actually a nice ambience. I have also found that a decent solar light, motion...

SSD drive vs conventional hard drive

For general use cases, I absolutely agree with this approach and this is the approach I use and believe it would be applicable to most people. If you do have a high resiliency requirement, raid 5 is suitable for CCTV providing you use a dedicated raid hardware controller. No way would I rely on...

SSD drive vs conventional hard drive

While I would not recommend striping, it does NOT increase drive wear at all. Striping Raid 0 distributes writes evenly across all disks in the stripe, in many ways extending the life span of individual disks. Lose1, lose all the data. Raid1 mirroring, doubles writes, but that isn't striping...

Okay, those cameras are actually not too bad, with that much artifacting I bet you are using RTSP, move to RTMP (for some reason with Reolinks rtmp is more stable and less artifacting) I believe the format is as follows...

Blueiris lag despite low CPU usage

From this you are not using sub-streams, and without that your PC won't cope with that many 8MP cameras. I also note that only a few of your cams are working with hardware acceleration. If the lag occurs after a few hours, and you notice a FPS drop, could be associated with memory leak and the...

BI already has that functionality today (sending images to Sentry and LPR). I assume the biggest blocker would be any current commercial agreements (if any) with Sentry. From a financial point though, it would be risky to pass images directly to DeepStack, They would need something far more...

SSD drive vs conventional hard drive

Yes, but it is negligible depending on the HDD brand. Much bigger power savings elsewhere, not to mention the initial $ savings would offset any potential power savings down the track.

    Hikvision ColorVu + 4K (DS-2CD2087G2-L)

If using sub-streams and the frame rates are not the same between streams then a delay occurs. Mine is pretty instant, but there is a 1 sec delay before bi switches from sub to full stream.

Resolution is fine, but increase the bit-rate (quality) of whatever stream you are sending to AI Tool, there is a lot of artifacting. Experiment with exposure options such as HLC. Experiment with contrast. That angle detecting a car at night 100% of the time will be tough

I think this has been covered to death before, but you do what's best for you. Parking legal requirements because they vary by region, it comes down to reliability and introducing more points of failure. Just search this site for motion events issues. I have had BI set to trigger on the...

Yep so many people are going to be disappointed, recoding only from clones. That being said, although I do constant recording with AI Tools flagging alerts, I have now setup clones to record a "timelapse" daily video summary of AI validated events in a single video per cam. Then when I watch the...

What do you think of Dahua's "Uyghur Warnings"?

Shikes this is absolutely disturbing, but conforms what I suspected. A lot has been made of the amount of cams being installed in China, but here in Oz we have always had lots of camera, who really knows how the government uses them and for what.

Sure is, I found this by accident. Under actions, populate the "Objects" field to send telegram alerts on only specific objects. ie: I get telegram alerts only when a Person is detected (refer below), I still have all relevant objects selected in the actual camera. I go further than this and...

Purely personal opinion, I explained the reasoning, the majority of the post was an attempt to provide the outcomes you required. ie: Have BI record only on external motion, but you did not comment on that part of the post. I will add though, that the typical HDD used in NVR setups uses <5...

Advantage to running individual cables to NVR vs POE switch and using a single cable back to the NVR

I have the PoE switch concealed but in the house close to the ceiling on a custom enclosure in a closet and NVR downstairs. Sort of a compromise, as the attic / roof space gets hot here in Oz. Single cable run for the nvr downstairs. In my case running multiple runs downstairs would get messy.

Peace of Mind - You really want to go to all the effort of setting up CCTV, Configuring BI, DeepStack and IT Tools only to likely miss a key event. In all seriousness that is the outcome you can expect. You are entitled to your view, however anyone with experience can only advocate for 24x7...
