Minor Bug: Encode->Overlay->Channel Title is NOT enabled, but text shows up on snapshots (not on video as it should)

I've got a IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 running the very latest software ... although I believe it may have been in the previous version as I looked at snapshots from before the recent upgrade. Encode->Overlay->Channel Title is NOT enabled ... but the default value of "IPC" was still there for Input Text...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

FYI that I just upgraded camera #2 (from @EMPIRETECANDY's original software) and don't appear to have any issues. Based on my limited testing (and what others have said), it looks like a solid release - nice work @EMPIRETECANDY One thing I noticed (before doing the upgrade) is under "Storage"...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I went ahead and applied the firmware from @EMPIRETECANDY's site. Remember there are two .bin files to apply (in order - they are labeled as such) as all went uneventful and camera seems to be working fine. FYI that after the first .bin file, the (new) Maintenance Center has a Red "1" (number)...

So just to be clear, the May 16th includes some updates from this week? I.e. you won't be releasing newer firmware in the next week or two?

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Good news @EMPIRETECANDY that the "official" firmware is now available - looks like you just made it available today, but the FW is dated May 16th - right? BTW, per the release notes, there are about a dozen new features/fixes ... I'd post the PDF, but not sure that's "OK" ... so maybe worth...

    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Ditto what @samplenhold said that you can try putting the cam close to the glass and "cover the surrounding area" with black fabric to block interior light/reflections - I'm sure a lot easier with a bullet versus a dome. As it sounds like you know/done, this is a common photography trick when...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

I just realized that the "test" Firmware I installed on June 7th changed the "Encoding Strategy" from "Smart Codec" to "AI Coding" ... and there is NOT an option to have "Smart Codec" I compared to another camera that did NOT have that installed and the "Compression/etc." is the same ... but...

New: These look interesting - HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO

I appreciate the real-world experience/commentary @bigredfish and @CCTVCam. Is there any way to adjust the focus on the 4KT's? I recall in the mega-thread on them that someone said you could open them up, remove the glue, and then adjust ... or something like that(?) And if you pixel peep, is...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Ditto on the comparison ... and to be clear, the S3 version of the 5442/54IR - not the "original" I don't think there is an "S3 upgrade" on the 4KT - right?

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

FYI FWIW that I uploaded Andy's software and here are some random comments - TL;DR is to echo what others said, it was uneventful and all seems to be working well. I use Edge on a Win11 desktop with the camera on the same LAN, so I opted to just "do" the upgrade rather than reset to factory...

New: These look interesting - HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO

Good info from an extremely knowledgeable source - thanks @bigredfish. Some random thoughts below. Depth of field doesn’t immediately change from clear to blurry - there's a "circle of confusion" and it depends on how visually discriminating you are. So I'm wondering if since you have "not...

New: These look interesting - HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO

Roger on the reduced DOF @CCTVCam ... and I certainly do NOT expect a sharp image from a foot away to infinity when zoomed in with large sensor/aperture since that ... violates the laws of optics! ;-) But if you are on the wide-end of the focal length, do you think reasonable focus/sharpness...

New: These look interesting - HDW3449H-AS-PV-PRO

Note specs says F/1.0 lens ... easier to do if fixed focal length. It's a logical response to Hikvision. I'm holding out for the varifocal F/1.0 lens with 1/1.2" (latest technology) sensor - aka the "light sucking monster" ;-)

How to remove web pop out ?

I get the same popup using Edge ... but I can do almost everything without it ... so kinda annoying. It would be nice if a future camera software release provided an option to NOT cause this to happen.

Probably worthwhile @looney2ns to mention what Firmware you are running - I assume the latest (11/27/2023) from Andy's download page? Per this post from another thread, here what I had AS-SHIPPED (late/2023) ... and BOLDING shows the changes after the upgrade: Device: IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 SAME SN...

    2023 and 2024 Models Update

Thanks @EMPIRETECANDY for the updates. Any chance we might soon see a 5442 replacement (4X Zoomer) using latest technology 1/1.2" sensor with just 2MP and F/1.0 lens? That would be a light-sucking monster!

IP Cam <-> Web server direct connection and integration

WRT #4, instead of a "push" from the camera to the web server/cloud, you might consider a "pull"- ffmpeg is your Swiss Army knife here. It sounds like you are well aware of security issues ... so yea, make sure you have 'em locked down well. BTW, I have a some IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3's running version...

    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

LOL on dude wearing full Camo-Gear plus Camo-Hat ... is he hoping that will help him blend in with the surroundings so the Owl isn't "spooked" by him ... versus the dozens of other people milling around! ;-) P.S. More Canon cameras? "Big Whites" are probably 70-200, 100-400, and guessing...

    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Once again, great info @steve1225 - I appreciate that you even mentioned that the image ratio needs to be the same. Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Thanks a bunch @steve1225 for the great info! Got it that Z4E was fixed aperture through the entire zoom range - sorry I didn't fully realize that. Yes, wide-mildtele is more difficult lens design than mildtele-strongtele. Thanks for the FOV data ... and yes, I should have looked this up. So...

    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Yes ... i.e. for the same field-of-view, when the Z4E wide open (8mm), what is the "zoom level" on the Z4 which goes from 2.7-12mm. And the REAL question I'm trying to answer is what is the difference in aperture at those settings - i.e. how much does the ZE close-down? Since for the same...

Ooops ... 16->32mm typo fixed in post above - thanks. Good into @wittaj - you would certainly have an excellent "feel" for the difference. To be clear, those are both S3's - right? And when the Z4E is wide-open, what "zoom level" does that correspond to with the Z4? Here's an example of a...

    Mini-Review - 5442-Z4E-S3 AKA B54IR-Z4E S3 - Replacement to the 5442-Z4E

Circling back on the "how does the aperture vary with zoom" question ... and thanks @steve1225 for your info. I'm debating replacing a ZE (2.7-12mm) with a Z4E (8-32mm). The "Zoom Level" on the Z4's go from 0-2275 (wide-tele)... and one of mine is at 400 ... which I suspect is wayyyy wider than...
