    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

    I like this go-for-it attitude! ;-)

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Ditto and LOL that in order to get a "better" sensor, you buy a dashcam and cannibalize the sensor.

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

GREAT reporting @steve1225 - sounds like still TBD on the vari-focals, especially WRT sensor technology, sensor size, and lens ... which has some(!) impact on image quality.

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

I appreciate the education @steve1225 and roger all that ... but it seems puzzling that since there are Chinese dashcam manufacturers (and DJI!) getting "high-tech sensors", why haven't any of those vendors expanded into the camera business as it seems like a would not be technically difficult...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Great info as always @steve1225 and roger that they are different markets/business approaches. What puzzles me is why HIK/Dahua don't at least offer a "premium" line that has the better sensors, SOC, etc. As you point out, Chinese dashcam vendors are using the Sony Starvis 2 sensors. What is...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Interesting chart @steve1225 - we'll find out soon enough what "Large pixel size, Large aperture" means in a vari-focal. I.e. the current fixed focals are F/1.0 with 1/1.8" sensors. So will they try to put that fast of lens in the varifocals (hopefully not closing down much in the tele end)...

    Dahua WizColor COMING SOON!

Ditto what others said that the video doesn't really say/answer much besides it's a WHODUNIT ... or I guess WHATISIT?!? ;-) Regardless, thank you @steve1225 for flagging this since ideally after April 16th, there will be more info and I look forward to reading your usual excellent...

    Where are the 2025 Models?

Thanks again @smiticans for the great info. BTW, since you seem to have great contacts at AXIS, a simple question on the 8MP 1/1.2" sensor versus 4MP 1/1.8" sensor is just ask 'em what the pixel size is - I'm wondering if it's the same, which (along with the sensor technology) defines the light...

    Where are the 2025 Models?

I should have been more clear @smiticans - "make me an offer" if you were going to retire your Q3538-LVE ... great you have a "trickle-down" use for it. BTW, looking at the Q3536 data sheet, it says it is 4MP 1/1.8" sensor ... whereas the Q3538 is a 8MP 1/1.2" sensor. I've seen these "types" of...

    Where are the 2025 Models?

Fantastic info @smiticans - thanks for posting for all to see. Yea, I was guessing that AXIS probably has more advanced image processing in wide dynamic range images. Low-light is my main interest since I run 7/24 full color - no IR. BTW, since you are replacing your Q3538-LVE dome, if you want...

I Ordered an Axis Communications Axis Q1808-LE Camera

FYI FWIW some discussion about AXIS camera in this Dahua thread. As I said over there, thank you @Parley for "taking one for the team" to order this camera and post some great info ... ditto @smiticans who has some excellent commentary.

    Where are the 2025 Models?

GREAT info @tuvow - any chance you have some side-by-side image taken at night with the same/reasonable shutter speed? P.S. Just noticed this thread about the AXIS Q1808-LE ... thank you @Parley for "taking one for the team" to order this camera and post some great info ... ditto @smiticans who...

    Where are the 2025 Models?

Just for grins, I was looking at the AXIS cams - and looking at moderate zoom camera, I saw the 1468 (8MP 1/1.2" sensor) and the 1808 (10MP 4/3" (!) sensor) ... there are probably others (better) that I missed as I'm not familiar with their product line. Now ... as pointed out, those are NOT...

    Mini-Review - 5442-ZE-S3 AKA T54IR-ZE-S3 - Replacement to 5442-ZE

With updated sensor technology (improved low-light capability - not too many mega-pixels) combined with a large aperture lens in a vari-focal. Tastes Great AND Less Filling - the "Light-Sucker" would sell like hot cakes! ;-)

    Mini-Review - 5442-ZE-S3 AKA T54IR-ZE-S3 - Replacement to 5442-ZE

Yea, but hasn't it been a while since the original 5442 was released ... and then the S3 version? There's gotta be something in the pipeline! ;-)

Color 4K-T -- Day / Night... im missing something

Awesome @tmxv4128 ... and if it is protected by the elements, you just pull some "dead cat hairs" and toss 'em on there which I presume is better audio solution? As it sounds like you well know, good audio requires some work (whether from webcams, recording, video, etc.) ... and I never thought...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Yea, I really like the animal detection ... especially now that there's a Bobcat wondering around our neighborhood(!) ... so definitely don't want to lose that.

    Review: EmpireTech IPC-T58IR-ZE-S3 / Dahua 5842T-ZE-S3 - 8MP / 4K Turret Camera

I'm sure I wouldn't be the only person curious to the your list of issues. Glad to hear they are getting feedback form 'ya @Wildcat_1 and rolling 'em into future firmware. A big Win-Win for the users/community and the vendor.

Dahua is going bigger 1/1.8" sensor in lower lines: new WizColor series, 3449-PRO and 2449-PRO lines

Great thread @steve1225 ... one can hope we'll see those larger (and better) sensor soon. That dashcam videos were impressive (albeit looks like some NR smearing in the shadows) ... and are NOT a thousand dollars ... so how come they are able to already have STARVIS2 sensors? I.e. Any insights...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

I've seen the AXIS and yes, they are pricey ... but their camera's are in general. I'm just surprised that after 8 years, a similar capability camera has only come down from $5,000 to $2,000 ... and note the Axis is not even a full-frame sensor. Although I'm guessing with technology...

    Worlds First Review - Dahua - IPC-Color4K-X / DH-IPC-HFW5849T1-ASE-LED - Full Color 4K Camera

Yes, unfair comparison between a camera with a a full-frame sensor (with presumably large aperture lens) that cost $5,000 against a $200 consumer cam with a 1/1.8" (or even 1/1.2") sensor. HOWEVER, as @CCTVCam points out, that was using 2016 technology. While the image looking a bit smeared...

Minor Bug: Encode->Overlay->Channel Title is NOT enabled, but text shows up on snapshots (not on video as it should)

Here's another oddity that I noticed and was able to duplicate on two different camera's. I'd be curious if anyone else is seeing ... or maybe I'm doing something really stupid! ;-) I have a time-stamped overlayed in the top right of the video/image/etc. This is done via...

API Snapshot quality is MUCH worse than Web Snapshots - blocky artifacts in shadows plus overall lightening

Since I just posted this image in another thread, I'll put it here as an example - please see that post for details. Clearly shows the compressed dynamic range when you pull snapshots (versus the video stream). Note this is NOT an image quality/sharpness issue - I would expect those to be...

    How about a new review, what about 2, 3, possibly 4 ?

First, DEFINITELY subscribing to this thread as @Wildcat_1 reviews are top-notch ... thanks for doing. You mention that you are testing "3 new cams" - maybe worth mentioning some details as people may be more interested in one than another which may help you choosing which to do first. 1. Amen...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

FYI FWIW that I tried various combination on a camera that had been up for a long time and the "pulsing" seems to be timed with the I-Frame Interval ... i.e. if I changed that, the pulsing rate changed. It's a fairly "busy" scene with lots of foliage and the encode settings are H.264H, AI...

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

Review- EmpireTech IPC-T54IR-ZE-S3 4mp Varifocal Turret

FYI FWIW @Sybertiger that I've seen something like this too ... doesn't seem to always happen, but haven't figured out any "pattern" I initially assumed it had something to do with i-Frame's (since it's a loss of sharpness)... but (semi-similar to you) since you have it set to 15 (and are...
