    Just ordered the IPC-HDW4431C-A

This forum is awesome for info as long as you do the searching for answers yourself. Some of the older crowd here will jump all over/be very condescending if you ask too many newb questions. I got started here too, have fun...good luck!

Install advice under soffit for dome camera, I botched my 1st install... PICS

Wow. Dude. You butchered that. You should have just ripped a piece of wood and placed it between the plywood and soffit so you could just mount against the soffit. But, it functions so that's what counts!

The POE switch will most likely work and at least you can troubleshoot from there.

Need Help Finishing My Ip Setup

Never heard of BV Tech but the specs look fab. Personally I'd be kinda nervous though spending that much on a brand I've never heard of. Let us know how you make out!! Edit: Now that I'm looking at it seems like a re-branded switch. I don't see that it's UL or CE listed, just an fyi. Netgear...

Need Help Finishing My Ip Setup

12 camera is a lot to record but the 4TB purple will do just fine. If your worried about redundancy then you may want to go with a RAID setup but it's certainly not necessary. When looking for a switch make sure that the POE ports are supply enough power to handle all those cameras. I wouldn't...

    NVR and 6 cams

Yeah that DVR is one of the better(professional) ones and should handle what you want but I would double check with him that you want to run 4@4MP's and 2@2MP to make sure it can handle the bit rate needed.

New here. Looking for first Home DIY setup

Ok, I'll oversimplify it. Aliexpress/Alibaba = good for experiences users, provide some support, low price, quazzzy warranty, mostly hacked English firmware(although for more $ you can get straight English firmware), crucial to find a trusted seller, can take a while to receive hardware because...
