viewing blue iris remotely from another computer continuously

I'd be interested in a more advanced remote connection - i.e. configure the remote instance of BI to point to the directory of the primary instance that is running on a dedicated server. Make it a drop-down configuration, and you could manage multiple servers, mainly as an image monitoring /...

Standalone Java app for dedicated live view with Instant Replay

I see you're aware "Non-LAN only" authentication isn't functioning; I'll keep an eye out for improvements in BI for this. A new issue I've just started getting is no response at all when launching the jar file - just instant crash without any GUI. I launched via a console and saw the error...

Flood Light add on gadget needed.

Or just have a light sensor detect when the floodlights come on, and control the reaction that way. The delay will only be a few milliseconds. ;)

    Criteria for "Non-LAN only" ?

Same subnet. The interface dropdown doesn't have 127.0.0.1 as an option, which is interesting.

    Criteria for "Non-LAN only" ?

From the BI help file... "If you select to authenticate Non-LAN connections only, users connecting from within your local home/office network will not be prompted, while those connecting from the Internet will be prompted." So, does BI use the source IP being part of the standard private...

    Isolating specific cameras for review

Look into camera groups. The experts around here will chime in with more detail, I'm sure, but I'd say that's the area you want.

    Multi-camera playback (for Alerts)

Finally got my v4 platform up - amazing how the CPU usage goes down when you have a decent CPU and present-day o/s. ;) For some reason I thought playing back Alerts would display all my cameras - do I need to make a camera group or something for that, or is it not yet a feature? I wouldn't...

    Hikvision Product Comparison

Thanks again! Reinstated the DS-2CD2332-I row, and the POE column (not sure why they disappeared?). PoE capability is worth noting since most assume it is NOT present in a camera, unless stated.

Standalone Java app for dedicated live view with Instant Replay

I just woke my PC up from standby this (Monday) morning at nearly 8am, and BIV is displaying static images date-stamped as just after 2pm on Saturday. Windows 7 64bit with GB Ethernet back to server running BI3. Checked Log Errors to disk and the following error was shown for each of my...

Standalone Java app for dedicated live view with Instant Replay

Thinking about 'it shouldn't happen' then -- The same symptom takes place when returning from standby, as it does when BI crashes on my server: i.e. the last successfully obtained images are shown, but they remain "stale" and do not update. I just went to look at the error log, but Notepad...

Standalone Java app for dedicated live view with Instant Replay

Love your work, bp - thanks a bunch. Quick question: would it be possible to bind a keyboard shortcut to the function that restarts the imaging engine? I only ask because the 'link' to the server is understandably lost when my PC goes into standby. I've read up on Java detecting...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Thanks Don - definitely read your deep dives when I started, along with this whole thread. Unfortunately I couldn't afford to get buried in pulling this toy open and hacking into it (much as I'd enjoy doing so). Doorbell camera was required ASAP and now it's done - on to the next project. PS...

Review - TOP-201 Super Mini 720P HD IP-Cam (The Cheapest IP Cam So Far !!)

Bought this camera: TOP-201 IP Camera for $30 AUD. Seems like it was the right one: Build Date:2014/10/23 16:54:2 System: V4.02.R12.00006510.10010.1407 Connected it with this PoE adapter for $15 AUD, and I was up and running in about 15 seconds after unboxing. Figured I'd also something back...

Seeing non public IP addresses that don't exist connecting to my DVRs via admin login

Re: Seeing non public IP addresses that don't exist connecting to my DVRs via admin l Can you see any MAC addresses related to the unknown IP addresses? Primitively, checking via arp -a Traffic between NVR <--> Internet might not be triggering perhaps due to another device on your network...

Hikvision NVR with POE ports - bridge to LAN interface?

From what I've read, the POE ports on the back of the NVR (e.g. DS-7604NI-SE/P) are isolated from the LAN segment that the NVR itself is connected to. What are the chances of the POE ports ever being bridged with the internal LAN interface? I'd really prefer to be able to reach the IP cameras...

Blue Iris 4 - Clips and Archiving question

Maybe V4 is better (still awaiting correct licence key from my January purchase), but V3 is a PITA for my newbie self. Simple example: +30 seconds button is the same button used to jump to the next alert*... but, it loops to the beginning again if you don't press it at the right time? I know...

Blue Iris 4 - Clips and Archiving question

I have many, many files. :) I'd be the first to admit I have not got alerts/motion/triggering etc. settings configured 100% right, let alone nicely tuned to reduce all the noise. However for now as well as in the future, my preference is to jump to the date of interest quickly and navigate...

Blue Iris 4 - Clips and Archiving question

I was also curious about this area. I had the intention of a waterfall style archiving, with each folder containing a week's worth of recordings. Not sure to set each dropdown to 7 days, or set them to 7, 14, 21, 28, etc, respectively. To ask the same question in one long run on sentence -...

Is the new BlueIris 4 worth the upgrade at this moment?

I thought I'd actually purchased v4 when I finally decided to go with BI two weeks ago... tried to get it working on the spare PC I had with XP 64bit (a unicorn of o/s versions these days) - I didn't mind that it didn't work and threw v3 on there until I could build a proper 64bit Win7 or Win8...
