    Found my problem. My cameras are set up with a static IP address and I screwed up the default gateway address. Fixed it to match the router and now I can reach my camera from outside my network too.

    You make very good points. I wonder if their $35 analog camera has the same drive mechanism (probably). I think I'll buy one - at a minimum it will fun to take apart. Might prove to be a good source of replacement parts for the PT portion.

    Pretty sure they're not steppers. They certainly don't make the noise of one. Much simpler to drive brush motors.

    Thanks - this helps. Can you now post a photo of the cable you were provided? Sounds like it isn't right as it doesn't have a separate PCB connector to plug into the 12V jack on the board.

    Got mine today! (E-packet, 1.5 weeks after shipment). Just been playing around in the house but so far so good! I thought the camera was constructed with more metal so that was a bit of a surprise. Now I just need to find a spot to mount it on the house.

    I know you're getting a replacement, however can you tell if the camera 'clicks' when going from day to night mode? If not, then I would think it's your IR filter mechanism that has failed.

    I'd like to know too now that I have some IP Hikvision cameras. I'm leaning towards NVR for overall integration, smaller size, no windows security to fiddle with and lower power consumption.
