    Replace failing hard drive

Thanks everyone. First, just in case anyone else reads this thread and finds themselves in this same situation, my problem and solution to the HDD issue was this: I had a failing 128gb SSD HD and wanted to replace it with a 256gb SSD HD. I used Macrium to clone the old disk to the new, and...

    Replace failing hard drive

Guys… it’s working now, and I’ll explain how I fixed it in just a bit. For now and on to the next (smaller) issue… I can’t expand my C drive into the unallocated space. It appears as though the recovery partition is in the way. So dumb. Any ideas on how I can merge C into the unallocated space...

    Replace failing hard drive

Is it common to have a power issue to the drive? Should I replace the power cable from the SSD to the computer? I had to get it set just right at the connection into the computer in order to get the old SSD to boot. Then, when I was able to boot from the USB rescue drive, it was unable to find...

    Replace failing hard drive

Apparently, for some reason, Macrium won't let me create a rescue disk on a USB drive, I'll have to see if I have any CD's available to burn to. I also feel like the connection between the HDD and PC is super unstable- the plug has to be just in the right spot on the PC in order for the HDD to...

    Replace failing hard drive

Also, I have two drives, C: and V: (WD purple for clips only). C: is what is failing.

    Replace failing hard drive

So originally I used a USB to SATA to create a clone of the original HDD through Macrium. I appeared to have copied the entire drive, so I just assumed it would be plug and play. I did not change partition sizes and should probably just format it and start over.

    Replace failing hard drive

So… all is well now with the old drive. I figured out that it wasn’t booting because it wasnt getting power. I reset the cables and now have it booted on the original HDD That’s right. I’m going to go through that original video you posted for creating the direct disk clone. that’s...

Sure didn’t. Unfortunately, when I put the old Hd in, it still won’t boot.

I used macrium. And no, old 128, new 256.

    Replace failing hard drive

So… I cloned with Macrium. All went well. Powered down computer, removed old HD, put in new HD, and now it’s failing to boot from both drives. I get the above when loading the old drive, that’s why it’s being replaced. Do not get this with new drive. Next two I get with new or old though. Have...

    Replace failing hard drive

SMART scan and CrystalDisk are showing that my C drive is failing. I bought another SSD to replace it. I plan on using a SATA to USB cable to clone old drive to new, then installing. Is that it? Will BI transfer over and just be plug and play? Same with camera settings? Will saved passwords...

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

You make a good point- Deepstack is great for limiting the triggers from bugs and dramatic scene changes, but results in major spikes in CPU, especially when there's a ton of activity around the house triggering multiple cameras at the same time. I can only imagine when it's blowing snow. I'm...

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

That sucks. Although the AI is fantastic, I'm not sure an upgrade from fully functioning 5231's to the 5442's would be justified. That's a tough decision. Is it bad that I almost hope by 5231's will start dropping like flies so that I'll have an excuse to upgrade?

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

Oh no. I'm seeing this in the description on Dahua's site. Motion with only face detection, and no human/vehicle detection, then? Just to clarify. Intelligence IVS (optional) Tripwire, Intrusion, Object Abandoned/Missing Advanced Intelligent Functions Face Detection

Who uses Dahua AI capable cameras? Reliable AI for triggering events? Pro's/con's?

I don't have access to my network currently- do the 5231's also have this AI feature? Deepstack is working better for me than just BI motion triggers, but still (clearly) has its limitations. I don't have any plans to replace my 5231's anytime soon so I'm hoping they do have this feature.

Viewing Camera outside of my network without portforwarding.

That's what I was thinking- thank you for your advice, I totally agree (although it would be so much more convenient to use the PC). Thanks @sebastiantombs!

Viewing Camera outside of my network without portforwarding.

One additional question to this- If I use OpenVPN to access BI from outside of my network on my phone, then, if I wanted to access UI3 from a computer out of network (such as a work computer at the office), I would then need to use the OpenVPN certificate or program on that computer, correct...

    Deepstack CPU usage

Thank you, @looney2ns @wittaj. Newb mistake, but lesson learned. Reason why CPU was so high when reviewing footage was because I had activated testing/tuning->add motion overlay, resulting in deepstack overlays going over the entire video during playback. I turned this off and now am back to...

    Deepstack CPU usage

I utilize substreams and my CPU usage generally got down to 10-20%. I just installed and began utilizing Deepstack, and, at times, especially when there's a dozen kids running around my house and cars going by, with Deepstack analyzing all the motion triggers, CPU will spike to 100%. Is this...

    Timeline audio alert

That's a great idea. I didn't know that existed, but it makes sense. I may give it a try. Although it's a good workaround and could work, the leg work involving exporting 8 hours worth of footage seems like a lot. This is good since it's probably the only option as of now, but it would be nice...

    Timeline audio alert

Does BI have the capability to show audio spikes on the timeline? For example, my neighbors house was egged last night. I have no relevant alerts and am unable to find any video by scrubbing timeline, however I'm sure the culprits made some noise while egging the house. It would be nice if we...

Thank you @bp2008. I would assume I just need a cert file on my work pc then? Would I need to download any OpenVPN software to the pc? (Sorry, not super well versed with vpn connections).
