    Telephone Dialler

https://notalwaysright.com/ Heh. Darned if I can remember it, but there was a reported case of a 'house' auto-dialing for refilling the coal bunker. It had been disabled, but rewiring turned it back on, and it started to phone home- to a number that had been reassigned. Looked for the story...

    Light Streaks

Those are caused by fine lines/scratches on the surface of the dome. It could be dirt or it could be permanent. You can wet it down with DI water and clean it, and see if it goes away. You'll also see the lines go away if the dome is wet. However if they're scratched into the surface of the...

IP Camera Suggestion for reading licence plate from tree?

I used a pressure washer with a jet nozzle to make my trench. Just keep everything you don't want covered in mud out of the way.

IP Camera Suggestion for reading licence plate from tree?

Yeah that's one of my concerns. Redoing the whole network eventually to have full up isolation. Gonna be problematic.

How Do I Pre-Configure An IP Camera for a Milestone System

Keep friends with the IT staff they said... it'll be helpful they said... Good on you to help out- both career and (interest). There's a lot of neat things there. Maybe you can convince him to buy some additional cameras so you can 'experiment' at your own place ... but when the boss signs your...

IP Camera Suggestion for reading licence plate from tree?

I took a starlight camera, put a fixed focus 50mm on it (35mm equiv of 400mm). I then ran into focus issues and are trying to surmount that now. I have an IR-PASS 850nm filter coming so that during the day the camera is only seeing IR, and at night it'll switch over to the 'clear' window to be...

Simple (inexpensive) power supply solution for 12 volts

My bad- when you said 'woods' I thought this was a shed run. Yeah, you'd be a bit screwed if your basement is like that.

Simple (inexpensive) power supply solution for 12 volts

I would really recommend investing in a meanwell sealed unit. Condensation and the temperature range may be of importance to you too.

    Tendelux 80ft IR Illuminator

Did you, or do you know of, anyone that has taken them apart to see how they're put together?

Please help! Need evidence I was home during accused hit and run. BI clips much shorter than selected length.

They won't let you have the records- they're part of an active investigation. I'm sorry I'm so negative here, just too many experiences.

My wish for a perfect IR light:

Funny that.... I've got some gear coming to play with building an IR light. I'll keep you posted.

Autofocus lenses and Crop Factor/ Equiv

I did buy my 50mm from them- they sent one with an IR filter, so a little 'snip snip', crunch and crackle later.... it was removed. I'm still looking for a 7.6mmx7.6mm IR PASS filter; I found an 8mm, but I don't know of any mounts that would fit that. So I slapped an IR-only (850nm bandpass)...

Please help! Need evidence I was home during accused hit and run. BI clips much shorter than selected length.

Actually that's a good point. I should have mentioned that first. I've been boned before, including have a sworn officer of the law swear he put 'papers' in my hand- when I had photos of them stuffed in my door when I got home, and the video of him doing it from the camera. Still wasn't going to...

Autofocus lenses and Crop Factor/ Equiv

I'm not looking for the right things, apparently, as I'm only finding very small zooms. I was looking for any autofocus lens to see what's out there. Any pointers to where they're sold? Second question: Right now I have a 50mm (6.7 FOV) on the camera, but wanted to check my math. I used to...

Do NOT TALK TO THE POLICE. Get a lawyer. DO NOT MOVE YOUR GEAR. I would certainly provide the iphone GPS data (google maps timeline is awesome). Because that makes it to 'premeditated' if it shows you didn't leave and they'll claim you turned it off/left your phone at home. So get the lawyer...

I love it. Keep it quiet; it would be nice to be able to do some proofing to keep the Chinese government out of my network.

    IR Illuminators in 2019

Actually you can find all sorts of IR LEDs on Aliexpress, and how to swap them around. I'm taking delivery of some IR lasers, set down to a small mw power, and put on beam expanders. I'll take them into work to measure the power to make sure before doing anything with them. Soldering the IR on...

Edgecore 4210 not providing POE to Ali /af compatible board

Alright, thank you Amazon for 1 day shipping. I just took receipt of a POE tester. Without having calibrated it (because, you know, expediency) I plugged in the offensive switch. Interestingly enough it is -53.7V, whereas my other two POE switches are -48V. Both are midspan, and both show the...

Edgecore 4210 not providing POE to Ali /af compatible board

Wait, so wire it like a mid-span as well as end-span? Hrmmm. There are/is an extra pair on there but I don't know if I ohmed out them with the others. Oddly I tested it with another Cisco 10/100 POE switch and it worked fine. So it is only not working with the 10/100/1000 edgecore. Which means...

Flip IR-PASS filters for day/night use

Is there a common IR long pass filter that can be switched into a lens mount? Does this item exist or does the mount exist? Cameras that only shoot IR for (perhaps focus) reasons? I can't tell without disassembling mine, but it appears to be about 8mm square, and very very thin for the IR-CUT...

Flip IR-PASS filters for day/night use

Odd question but one I am not seeing an immediate answer for. I want my camera to only shoot in IR, which means I need the IR filter holder to be active during the day (not a big deal, software) but I need to put into it an IR-pass filter. Also known as long-pass or ZWB2 or ZWB3. Or deep red...

The mystery of the "invisible" license plate on my LPR cameras

"IR" paint is regular paint with tiny beads embedded in it. So... some adhesive targets is best. Look for 'retroreflective' tape. Depending on weatherproofing you can get away with cheap stuff.

The mystery of the "invisible" license plate on my LPR cameras

No, they just don't believe people should know where they are... funny about that. All that surveillance aimed at the general population (read why you should block your toll-tag when not in use) and yet when it might be used on them they balk.

The mystery of the "invisible" license plate on my LPR cameras

License plates include matte beads which are a 'retroreflector'. Obviously something is different with that tag- you should notice it immediately if you park it down the road a bit and shine a flashlight at it. Compared to your other vehicle, it doesn't light up. My guess is that it's just...

Edgecore 4210 not providing POE to Ali /af compatible board

I haven't fully dived into this yet. I have a couple of POE switches, including one that is only 10/100. The Edgecore above can do gig POE, and so can a netgear Prosafe. The prosafe sends POE just fine- I've measured 48v and 12v reliably. However the edgecore doesn't;I have NOT been able to...

    EZViz Camera: CS-CV110-A1, photos, passwords...

Well the chip is of the board. So I can program to my heart's content. What I can't find is a flex of of the board to a socket to program. I know they exist... At least I hope they weren't custom when I used them before. Would make life so much easier.
