    VLAN and OpnVpn

Also mind the gap: a L3 switch càn do routing (but at poor performance), where-as a router (like an Edgerouter) is good in routing, however they often fail in "switching". Look for terms like "switch-offload".

    VLAN and OpnVpn

Some of the Asus RT-XX routers do support vlans, but you have to read the small prints on the Rmerlin forum (Home | Asuswrt-Merlin): my last Asus did have 2 networking chips, one for the hard wired and one for the wifi "wired" connections. One did support vlans, the other not. Even entering the...

NAS for Dahua Camera through VPN server

Cool, so you actually made a "physical" (not virtual) LAN separately for you cam. Well done! But it's not clear to me what you want to achieve: you only want to use the NAS as "storage dump space" for the camera, and you will continue to use the camera to view the footage? Personally, if you...

NAS for Dahua Camera through VPN server

If you missed something, is rather difficult from this side of the keyboard :-) The best way is to ... draw a nice topology. For networks, there are 2 ones: the physical one (how are the wires going, which cable goes into which port of router/switch) and a logical one (how are the...

NAS for Dahua Camera through VPN server

Haai! To my understanding, these dual-ethernet NAS'es only work in LAG (link aggregation) or failover, meaning that basically, if one port/link breaks down, the other one takes over. Combined they provide a double bandwidth to your backend switches. However, that should not stop you from doing...

    intercom VTH5341G

Hay! I looked at my VTO (on the latest firmware), it indeed lacks "dimmer" (where the 3.x firmware did have the option to turn down the light in the nameplate). Which SD card did you inject? 2TB? That won't be recognised. I found a 32MB one from an old digital camera, and that worked fine. I...

    intercom VTH5341G

Couple of things: in the webservice of your VTO: there's something called "dimmer" under the configuration settings, it does not work on my VTO2000A, but maybe that helps you to turn on/off the backlight of the name plates. Secondly: if you insert an SD card in the VTH, it can function as an...

Review-IP Villa Outdoor Doorbell Station & Indoor Monitor Kit

Depending on your VTO type & NVR, this could work when pressing the button. On my VTO2000A however, it was not an option, so what I did was configure the VTO's channel to 24/7 record on the NVR. And yes, it does record all voices even when not pressing the ring button. You sometimes hear people...

***PSA for those with a New DAHUA NVR with Built-in PoE switch

The last time I did an update of the underlying POE camera, the "port X" changed too to "37777 ONVIF". Although all was working well (eg notifications and stuff), I rebooted the NVR a couple of times (who doesn't choke his NVR once in a while) and now all cams went "automagically" back to "port X".

    Dahua DMSS App.

No, I have one NVR on top of all my cams, plus that VTO (which is also connecting to the NVR) and view all this through DMSS. But any app (working with ONVIF) would work fine, except for the notifications, for that you need DMSS/iDMSS

    Dahua DMSS App.

Indeed, P2P is fancy for the non tech savvy who buys this set. Mine is also hidden behind a complex rule based vlan setup, with one (cool) advantage that I can immediately see which vlan is doing crazy things (eg broadcasts to other subnets, or capture that button-push outbount call). Then...

gdmss plus IVS push notification not working

Here you are @Holbs :-) Indeed, if you have blocking outbound port 2195, add 8888 and reboot the VTO. Good luck! CC

    Dahua DMSS App.

More than 3y after my first deployment ([Review] VTO2000A & VTH1550CH & VTNS1060A Intercom Kit), and still not using any form of p2p, not on the VTO2000, not on my IPC/HDW, nor on my NVR. Push notifications do work once they work. Mind if you are on iOS, that specific port forward 2195 did...

    Accessing "Spy" Cam video stream?

Hi! Probably what you are exchanging with the cam is some "p2p" handshaking, all the other chattering is from the cam to the "cloud" and when you watch the video feeds, that will be "cloud" to your pc/mobile. For that, you need some kind of port mirrorring (or through a "plain" switch wireshark...

Ubiquity EdgeRouter X - Configuring to Isolate Surveillance Networks

There are advantages by having your NVR in the garage: noise (especially the POE ones make buzzzz) all camera bandwidth remains on the Switch1 and won't overload your ER-X. Do note that an ER-X is bad in switching, good in routing. Hey, it is a router after all. vlanning may become easier...

Indeed, "Parental" controls on Asus do block VPN access too (because you're coming from outside). I personally never messed with these LAN/WAN filters, but worked hardcore in iptables on my asus. The only drawback is (was?) that changing iptables was not persistent - after every reboot, you...

    Remote Garage Connection

^^ with @TonyR ! If you don't want to go the wifi-high-tech-route, and under the condition that your garage is on the same "power"circuit as your house, you can opt for what's called "powerline" adaptors: they "inject" TCPIP on the power cables. But, we have to face the (ugly) truth: they are a...

    Please Help!

Indeed, good suggestions above : "bad" cables do suffer from corrosion and/or interference. Are these "artefacts" happening all the time or only when you use your microwave oven (as an example). To debug yourself: exchange 2 camera's, and see if the results "stick" to the camera or do they...

Hi @HeresMathew: Is it that black "line" running across the mid-below camera? Is it the sound on the background? Is this only in Live View or is this also in Playback mode? As a first resort I'm tempted to say: do a factory reset of that specific camera and configure it like it was earlier (eg...
